I'm excited and nervous and I have a final in 10 minutes and contractions look damn uncomfortable and man this is nuts.

As in how far along, she was due on the 5th, her contractions are currently 2-3 minutes apart and they seem to last about 20-45 seconds.

Congrats, welcome in the club of crazy awesome uncles!

Oh I forgot that she is giving birth next door at your house... You will have some long nights ahead of you or you are like me and my girlfriend and you are able to sleep with a baby crying in the room next to you(future parents of the year... I doubt it).

I hope your sister is doing well - sounds like she had a very long day. Epidural or natural?

I hope your sister is doing well - sounds like she had a very long day. Epidural or natural?Natural home birth. She's fine now, but it took 26 hours with the last 12 were super-intense.

Ah! I had a suspicion that it was at home, since you were within earshot the whole time. I can totally empathize - I labored for 24+ hours with Owen at a birthing center but he was stuck at the wrong angle so we had to go to the hospital to get him out with forceps because I was too exhausted and he was still stuck and his heart rate was dipping. So glad your sister had a better experience than me! (also my midwife was TERRIBLE and is the reason I'm all hospital birth all the time now lol)

(sorry, can't resist getting a birth story in haha it's like a sickness once you've been through it, you MUST SHARE)

This midwife was trained by one of the midwifes who basically helped make midwifery legal in Florida at the college here. She was excellent. My mom had an opposite experience with my middle sister. The doctor they had for me was on vacation and his backup was lackadasical and his delivery nurse was awful, plus their equipment wasn't working etc etc etc.

My OB currently has been in the business for a bazillion years. I feel so comfortable knowing he's in charge, and Sophie's birth was SO much better than Owen's. (My doc actually delivered Ty's youngest brother 21 years ago.)

It's great that she got such an experienced and good midwife. Mine was pleasant and personable and we got along great at our prenatal checks, but for the actual birth she was a non-entity, took naps in her office, went shopping, and then waffled on whether to reccommend or not that I go to the hospital finally. Plus she never checked up on me after we finally got Owen out and she left the hospital. PLUS we had to pay her AND the hospital. Owen was worth it, but good grief.

Ahem. Anyway.

This thread needs some pictures of the wittle one.
