Apparently Joss Whedon is a sneak bastard, because he's secretly cast, directed and filmed an adaptation of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing.

It hasn't yet been picked up for distribution, but there's a site: http://muchadothemovie.com/

Not only is it staring Amy Acker (Fred from Angel), it's got a number of other Whedon alumni in its cast: Nathan Fillion, Sean Maher and Tom Lenk.

So, supposedly Nathan Fillion is playing Dogberry. Emma Bates is Ursula... No other cast speculations yet.

Lionsgate films bought the publishing rights for this and it premiered last week or something like that.

I kind of hoped that Joss would market this like Doctor Horrible as a straight to Itunes/Hulu/Netflix release. So now we will have to watch it at the movies first. A black and white Shakespeare film with B-movie actors will be hard to market overhere so this will take some time till we get a chance to watch it.
