NOTE: This game's based on a movie, hence the topic tag. I'm sick of using the GAMES tag in the Gaming forum, lol!
I'm not surprised nobody's really mentioned this aside form myself here and there. It explains why there's not been a thread up yet either.
Here's the teaser trailer form a while back:

The premise of this drop-in, drop-out co-op first person shooter is awesome. Remember in the movie Aliens, after the marines are ambushed inside the hive? They retreat back to the colony and are discussing their options when Ripley asks how long after they're declared overdue they could expect a rescue. Hicks's reply is "17 days." Well in Aliens: Colonial Marines, you are a member of the team that is sent to investigate what happened to the crew of the Sulaco.
It's basically the sequel we never got, or Gearbox Software's take on it anyway. I've read somewhere that as well as exploring the ruined colony that was destroyed when the atmosphere processor went critical and exploded, you'll get to explore the military vessel the marines in the movie arrived at LV4-26 in - the Sulaco, and I've read you may get to find out what happened to Hudson after he was dragged underneath the floor paneling in the pitche dbattle when the aliens swarm into the colony through the ceiling accessway.
There's also a 10-minute-ish walkthrough of one of the game's chapters, with Randy Pitchford delivering some narration in parts, as well as geeking out over the Aliens franchise itself. Check it out below:

I'm trying not to get my hopes up after the farce of Aliens vs Predator last year, but the footage above, along with not only Randy Pitchfords and Gearbox's passion for the source material but their experience with co-op shooters and FPS games in general (Borderlands and Half Life: Opposing Force) has me optimistic. And even Half-Life: Opposing Force plays a bit like an Aliens videogame in that you're a soldier sent into the Black mesa research facility to contain the situation (aliens crossing over trans-dimensional portals and running amok). And as for Duke Nukem Forever - I don't hold Gearbox responsible for that awful title since they basically just stitched together and polished what was basically a finished game that took 15 years to cobble together.
Thoughts, guys?
