View Full Version : Gettin' Ink and Punchin' Holes in Miami

After much discussion, Jenny and I have decided that - while in Miami - we are going to get tats (I won't be a wussy this time) and possibly new piercings (the piercings would be at the end of the trip however ;) ).
Now, for the tats, we threw around a few ideas; from Spiderman to crop circles. In the end we decided it might be awesome to have matching tattoos that are a sort of design meant to be for Fans. Could be little tiny matching lightsabers, could be something else. We couldn't think of anything at the moment, so we thought that, in the event that anyone would want to join us, it might be a good idea to ask for help, suggestions, and ideas.
It doesn't necessarily have to be anything directly SW related, like the Imperial wheel or Rebel insignia, but those are always good jumping off points I suppose. We're really looking for something that would be meaningful and singular to Fans. It doesn't have to be big - heck, I was wanting to put it on the underside of my wrist, if that gives you a good idea of the size. Simple black would be preferred, though minimal color will be considered as well. Doesn't have to be complicated or anything, so just keep that in mind.
But, if you have any ideas post them here! I'll be putting up some doodles in a few days to throw stuff out there, and others are welcome to do the same.
No one has to do the actual getting tattoed part, but I know for a fact that myself and Jenny will be sitting our happy asses down into that chair come November :D

I just want the next step of the piece you're making for me, but I guess I'd also be down for a Rebel insignia somewhere since I've always kinda wanted one

I would have liked something unique to us, but a little Rebel insignia would be alright. I'd probably get that on the underside of my wrist too. That way you could hide it with a watch if needs be ^_^;

I'm always down for more ink! :3
Especially if it's small/affordable lol
I have no issues with the rebel/imperial insignia but I too would like something a but more unique/semi meaningful if it's gonna be somewhat of a group thing

I'm fine with something that we come up with as a "fans" thing, so sure.

A Rebel Emblem as the primary, with the Imperial symbol occupying the empty space with a stretched SWF in the top part of the Imperial Ensign.
EDIT: Are we going Deep Sea Fishing one day?

I think we're wanting to avoid any lettering.
Here's a small few things that I threw together in PS; the one with the red I'm more partial to, and I'm scribbling some stuff up at the moment that sort of expands on it.
It's hard to think of a way to compress this place into a little symbol, but I know it can be done. Heck, I'll even throw together some little bits in my tribal style later on.

If you can design something, that would be absolutely preferable to any existing SW logo. Having seen the design you made for yourself, I'm sure you can come up with something simple but awesome :D

I like 7 and 20 the most, and 11 was a shoulder tat from a drawing of Ogre I did that I thought I'd put in there, heh. Course, I like parts of 26, 27,18, and 6 also.
I'm still gonna tinker some more, so if you see some that you want me to try to meld together, speak up.

IX.IX.MMIX - Jenny's less lazy version of Scorpion Day immortalized in roman numerals.
IX.IX.IX - my very lazy version of scorpion day immortalized in roman numerals.
XIX.XXIII.VI - the corresponding numbers for SWF in roman numerals.

Where you thinking of getting this done?
Sanis Prent
Sep 18th, 2011, 01:44:45 PM
Where as in the parlor or where as in body part?
I don't know about parlor, we can find one with a good reputation I'm sure.
Body part I'm thinking about on the inside of my right wrist. Something that I could potentially cover up with a watch if I needed to.

I meant body part, yes - and that's probably where I'd go for too!

I'm totally for the underside of the right wrist.
And when we get them done, gotta take a picture of everyone holding their wrists out for the camera 'Starship Troopers' style ;)

actually that would be hilarious if we got the Starship Troopers mobile infantry tat, lol

In all seriousness, my sister has some ink and she knows people. It shouldn't be an issue to find a shop.

I'm down for 1 if we have wording... Would prefer no words though *nod*

Well, it's not really wording specifically, but the Aurebesh characters for S,W, and F :)

I like it!
The nerd in me wishes that it was a design such that, if two of us did a handshake at the mid-arm, the tattoos would overlap. But either way, it is coolsville. :)

Quick question with #2, Christin - which way up is the writing? ie. Is the writing the correct way up when you're waving, or when your hands are at your side?

Ah, one of the endless debates in the tattoo community.. should the text face you so you can read it and everyone else sees it upside down, or should it be designed so that anyone looking at you can read it?

Sep 24th, 2011, 05:43:38 AM
Yeah, that was the big thing I wasn't so sure about, hehe. I'll throw together some overlays when I get home and post them up so we can see how each would look.

I would rather have the text facing me, since no one else is going to be able to read/understand it anyway :lol

Also I probably should've mentioned it at the tattoo shop, but Neutrogena makes the most badass non-scent moisturizing lotion and I recommend it highly. It makes scabs no problem at all.
Just make sure that in about a week, you resist the urge to scratch. After a few days you'll be all good.

Are you still on the 'sporin?
Don't use that stuff all the way through. Make sure to switch to a good lotion.

I pretty much put that on once a day right after I wash it off. Other than that, just a nice uber moisturizing lotion that I am pretty sure I used the last time as well.
Now to just wait to see how it peels... the last one I had almost came off in one big piece... was kinda cool/creepy.

Mine isn't itching too badly. So far so good.
Sanis Prent
Nov 22nd, 2011, 11:24:10 PM
Yeah as long as you keep it moist (I apply dabs of lotion twice a day) it doesn't get too tweaky until right at the moment the scabs are ready to go. Mine always seem to kinda erode away with each lotion application, so I don't peel as much as it just kinda whittles down and then disappears.

Do you know what the exact product name of this is? Like, what it says on the bottle?
Neutrogena has so many moisturising products, I can't tell which one you mean
