I just set this up to give myself a forum to explain some things and for criticisms, though most of them will be from myself, as I don't think anyone's really reading it.

NOTES
Ben doesn't have a country sort of accent normally. The planet he's on speaks a number of different languages, Basic for the moment is actually an ancient language, kinda like Middle English. He's learned the local languages from what would be the equivalent of hicks, thus his accent reflects that.

Also, this is not meant to be anything more than something that Ben might tell other people. Much of the more ridiculous things will have bases in truth, but are highly exaggerated as Ben would exaggerate them. More serious parts will be subjected to the untrustworthy narrator criterion too.

I first started writing this as a short story, but now I'm writing it as a sort of narrative comic book. I'm not very happy with the way the beginning's come out, but I wanted to post something or it would likely just sit on my hard-drive getting the crap edited out of it for nothing more than my own anal-retentiveness.

So far the beginning is an homage (or more accurately almost a complete rip-off) to one of my favourite author's stories, called Guardian. I also adapted the main idea of Guardian (again more accurately: THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, or pretty much all of it) to Ben's tale too, though it won't stay that way for long.

I'll be ripping off a fair number of things during the course of this story, mainly for comedic effect, sometimes for actual plot development. Here are the ones I have somewhat written out, as a run on sentence:

Street Fighter Bioshock Top Gun Doctor Who Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure/Bogus Journey System Shock 2 F.E.A.R. Ranma 1/2 You're Under Arrest! Call of Duty Fallout Twilight/Vampire Chronicles (Rice) Journeyman Need for Speed Jurassic Park Resident Evil H.P. Lovecraft Star Trek

...and many more! Which will be added when I come up with them.
