View Full Version : The Revenge is waiting for you!
Sanis Prent

So, I suppose y'all know by now that the freighter Layla, a character in her own right and a setting I've wrote in for a decade, was destroyed in a blaze of glory. Since then Sanis and Cirr have been adrift without a ship, without a mission, and without a cause.
That's about to change. They're about to be assigned to a Rebel Marauder Corvette (with Cirr being promoted to Commander to be Sanis's 2nd). Their mission? Hit & run, kick sand in the eyes of the Empire, and do as many dirty tricks in a place before running away to fight another day.
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p156/LoungieMu/Maraudercrv.jpg
So what does that all mean? Well, for one, a ship the size of a Marauder Corvette ain't exactly a Star Destroyer, but its a helluva lot bigger than a YV-666 freighter. It's got a real crew, sized over 100, even a squadron of fighters to support it. The Revenge needs a crew. Whether it's by-the-books Alliance career optimists or devil-may-care alcoholics who may not salute straight, but who can shoot straight, the ship represents a new setting for potential shenanigans for characters both old and new to get acquainted on. I'm looking for folks who may want to create a minor character or bring one along for the ride. If you can't find the time or muse to jump in a RP, that's fine. Maybe you're on the ship during a planetside op, or maybe you're in bunk and the other crew rotation's at your station. Either way, it's a no pressure gig.
Crew we have so far:
Sanis Prent - Executive Officer
Cirrsseeto Raurrssaatta - First Officer
Aris V'larr - Helm
Tera Uolmi - Squad lead: Suicide Squadron
Regan Altink - Chief Engineer
John Glayde - Chief of security
Kidd Smix - Pilot: Suicide Squadron

Any room on that little ship for a Sikarran star pilot/helmswoman?
I figure a corvette operating independently at the front lines wouldn't have its fighters in the air nearly as often as if it were running a picket for a battle group, so the Revenge's fighter pilots likely need to serve other roles on the crew while they're not flying. Aris could provide fighter support as the plot demands and still be available to quote regulations to Sanis about using thrusters only while in spacedock.
On the subject of fighters, any preferences on the loadout? Given the rather cavalier nature of the ship's mission, it might be fun to have a mixed squadron - eight A-Wing IIs and for B-Wings, for instance, so we can decimate enemy fighters and still pack a punch against capital ships.

An alternative might be to have an atypical loadout - pick fighters that aren't the typical -wing types that the Alliance uses: a Marauder Corvette presumably isn't the highest priority for the newest and shiniest fighters in the Alliance... and atypical fighters might create a bit more of a "Privateer" feel (rather than a "proper" Rebel ship), which might fit with Sanis' nature, and add an element of deniability.
The Preybird (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Preybird-class_starfighter) has the same predatory/winged look as a Marauder Corvette and would make a potential X-Wing alternative, while the Cutlass-9 (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Cutlass-9_patrol_fighter) is a compact patrol fighter: a poor man's A-Wing, possibly. There are CloakShapes (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/CloakShape_fighter), various types of Z-95 Headhunter (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Z-95_Headhunter) (some with hyperdrives; some with X-Wing s-foils)... and if the Marauder was "obtained" from the Corporate Sector Authority, it could even be packing IRD Fighters (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/IRD_Fighter).
Edit:
Quick extra question. With the Layla, Sanis and Cirr were involved with the Wheel a fair bit. How is the Revenge going to tie in with the Wheel? Are they a bit more distanced from the Jedi; or are they going to return to the Wheel between missions?

Tera's days flying with the Rogues are over, but maybe she could be of some use on the Revenge?

The Revenge's modus operandi is going to be speed. It's a fast ship with a nasty uppercut, but it's got a glass jaw. It's got a sublight rating on par with an X-Wing, a Class .55 hyperdrive, and carries diamond boron missiles. The armor and shielding are stock, and not likely to be upgraded due to weight and/or power plant requirements affecting the speed rating.
Had initially intended on stocking her with exactly the same 2:1 A wings & B wings combo you mentioned, but I like Jace's idea of making the loadout a bit more motley.
In that vein, I could totally see them using 2:1 Cutlass 9's & Cloakshapes. Given that the cloakshape is a massively customizable placeholder for whatever fighter we want, there's no reason we couldn't make it a mobile bomb platform like a B Wing. It doesn't hurt that the ship's getting all sorts of bennies courtesy of KMG so this is definitely doable.
The only real requirement of the fighters we'll use is that they've got good comms and good hyperdrives. The ability to hyper in, report an enemy's vector back to Revenge on the sly, and have the corvette drop realspace within a few kilometers to cap off a face full of missiles is exactly the sort of dirty deeds I'm after.

Sorry, I meant to answer this all in one post and got distracted.
He's going privateer on this. Basically it's a small mission platform designed for things that might require a capital ship, but aren't expected to be a fleet engagement. Think of it almost like a pirate ship in that way, with Sanis being a Sir Francis Drake character, having the equivalent of a letter of marque from the Alliance to kick Imperial freighters and take their lunch money.
Not saying there can't / won't be missions that involve the Wheel, especially considering the Jedi are probably going to want to have a liason more trustworthy than anything close to Dan's 4th fleet group.

Y'd have tae negotiate it wi' the Commodore... but I wouldnae mind getting ma' hands on the Revenge's diamond borons, if you'll pardon the engineering parlance. ;)

I'm well up for this, it gives me the perfect opportunity to get an old character off the ground, provided Sanis doesn't mind having an ex-Imperial pilot/HRD as part of his crew. I figure that, giving Sanis and Cirr's first and only encounter with Kidd, they'd have have an interesting foundation to build upon.

Since Charlotte Tur'enne and Kyran O'Hurn are off being awesome in different parts of the whole Decepis arc, Glayde is stuck at home alone with Charlotte's brother.
Please. Save him. :ohno

Cirr is going to lose sleep at night knowing somebody other than him is tinkering with the engines :(

By the way this thread (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?t=22028) is the introduction of the Revenge (even if the ship is currently named the Novgorod, since Sanis will change the name later)
If you want your character to be aboard at the beginning, feel free to post!

Well damn! Ben would make a helluva pilot for that, but I don't think he'd be too at ease there. perhaps Serasai Onashi as a Red Shirt?

Well now, that's not very nice, John. I can call you John now, can't I? What have I ever done to earn such enmity and disrespect?

That's a good question - what have you ever done?
I suppose there's an easy way to check - do morally bankrupt soldiers-for-hire keep sales reciepts for their work? :colbert
And call me whatever you want, 'Nash... but remember two things: I am constantly armed, and I'll be the one searching for your body when you mysteriously disappear.

Well, Grace is a very physical kind of gal. She has a penchant for gambling on and often times participating in illegal shockboxing matches, and has been known to travel around the underground circuit to fight for extra credits. She likes older style slugthrower pistols and building her own explosives, and generally being contrary and set in her ways. She's a smoker, and an impressive grouch when the mood strikes her just right.

Eh, don't worry about it. If you take too much pleasure in your job, they keep you from fighting and send you to a shrink. If you take too little pleasure, they'll keep you from fighting and put you in some boring little clerk position.
Either way, they'll look down on you from their high positions while they say that you're unfit for duty or some such bollocks.

You're quite correct, Mr Onashi. I am a bureaucratic sniper. My weapon of choice is reassignment, and my victims are the happiness and enjoyment that resides in the heart of anyone who strays too close to the Alliance SpecForce.
You are my next target, Mr Onashi. I suggest you escape while you still can, lest another second spent in my presence spells your positive emotional doom.

Amen, sister.
As regards Aris's involvement with the Revenge, now that the action with Rogue Group is picking up, I think I'd prefer to keep her with the Wheel at the moment. I may cook up another character for your motley crew later!
Judas Voss
Mar 21st, 2012, 06:26:52 PM
If you have need of a slicer, Judas is a rebel that needs a cause. His underground radio station was finally rooted out and he only avoided a prison term thanks to the heroics of a good samaritan. The only thing that tops his genius is his laziness. He's an accomplished Slicer but because of his experience with communication equipment while running his own underground rebel radio, he could double as a Comms Officer.
He doesn't really run with the actual Rebellion at all. Choosing to rebel more on his own within the criminal underground. He'd most likely have to be picked up somewhere or rescued from certain danger if you wanted him on your ship. He was last seen fleeing Ord Mantell after his operation was busted.

^ There is no Engine Room. Does this mean I get the day off? :ohno
Would anyone mind if I tinkered with that graphic to make something a little more Novgorod-friendly? I used to do stuff like that a lot, so I may be able to add in some appropriate customisation.
