This is finally available in the US. Over 15 million tracks streaming for free (or a small fee if you want to remove the ads or listen to em offline/on your iDevice). I don't buy any music at all anymore since I subscribed to the premium version, since basically anything I ever want to listen to is on Spotify :D
Here's a cool playlist to get you started, with music from Fallout New Vegas and BioShock: http://open.spotify.com/user/xbouwman/playlist/0TZfkY8kYoHtrcmawWbs8Y

I'll definately give this a shot. My internet connection has been a little shoddy lately so I'm curious to see how it handles streaming music. But if all is well, I'd be tempted to get a premium subscription, too. Mind throwing us an invite please, Jen?

People in the UK can just sign up for free anyway. You shouldn't need an invite :)

Got it! Though I'll have to run it under Wine, which is not my preferred method of running software, and the Linux preview is only available to premium or unlimited subscribers.
Gah. I'll get it working. Thanks!

For fans of Mass Effect, I made a playlist with all of the available pieces from the game soundtracks: http://open.spotify.com/user/furiousboar/playlist/5RY4DcTIX2pDu66sRNRWTq
Right now, it's just ME2. There's nothing from the first game on Spotify :(

Hmm... I guess it isn't available in the UK. We don't have access to all the same music/artists.

Ahh, I'm finding all the gangsta rap of my youth that I'm too broke to buy track-by-track currently

I predicted a long time ago that once Spotify spreads to the USA, it will be the death of iTunes and other per song payment services. A subscription based service with option for free listening with adds, with very fast and instant loading P2P based streaming, and pretty much the entire collection of every record label is simply vastly superior to any other thing out there. A service so good that it makes music piracy an inconvenient irrelevance.
This is what the record industry should have introduced like frickin 10 years ago, instead of suing the crap of Napster, and 12 year old girls for millions of dollars.
The only complaint I have is, there are still some artists / bands which are not represented. The Eagles, Pink Floyd and The Beatles spring to mind (and those are some of my favorites too :(, but I suspect this will change eventually.

You took the words right out of my mouth, Yog. Now if only there was something like this for films and television.

Ever since I started to subscribe to Spotify, the only music I have actually bought on iTunes is a couple of Beatles songs. The fact that even when I am out and about I can just load up Spotify on my phone, stick in an artists name and within 30 seconds be listening to almost any track is fantastic.

Okay, I'm subscribed and in love with this thing. Mahler's Fifth Symphony sealed the deal.

I'm liking this a whole lot. It's superior to every other service I've tried. I may just decide to do the pay subscription since having access on my Android phone would kill any reason to use an iPod or other mp3 player. It also means that I can potentially ditch a lot of my ripped mp3 files and reclaim some storage space.

I'm sticking with the free for now so I can at least try out all kinds of music without having to buy anything, and if I just really can't do without something when on the go, I can get it on itunes.

^ That was my stance too, until I realised if I bought one album or more on iTunes, I would have (90% of the time) already spent more than the cost of a Spotify subscription :lol

yeah but I hardly ever buy music these days so it's cheaper for now to occasionally snipe itunes
