Star Wars Technology As You've Never Seen It Before
Strip away the coverings of Star Wars space craft, weapons and
the Rebel base on Hoth with these never-before-seen intricate
blueprints. See X-ray-style analysis that reveals the inner
workings of iconic technology and find out how it contributes
to the Rebels' resistance against the Empire.

This is a book that I picked up at Comic Con. Both of the artists were there, so I got my copy signed!

I checked out the artists on Wookieepedia and Chris Trevas (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Chris_Trevas) especially has done some impressive stuff. When we were chatting to him, he mentioned that he had been involved in some other Essential Guide type books but I didn't realise that he had done so much character artwork too. There is a gallery of his stuff on the Wookiee or on his own site: http://www.christrevas.com/starwars.html (including The Jedi Path, which is posted about here previously)

Both artists are also working on something else called the Millennium Falcon Owner's Workshop Manual which is due out in 2012. Sounds like it will be cool.

It's a big, 32 page book which looks at the designs of various Rebel-specific techologies. Included is the T-65 X-Wing, with a breakdown of the ship itself, the cockpit controls, the flight and navigation systems, offensive systems, engines. Also in there is the Y-Wing, the Blockade Runner, Chewie's Bowcaster, a DDC Defender Sporting blaster, a BlasTech DH-17 rifle, BlasTech A280 blaster, plus a floor plan of Echo Base. Here's a couple of shots:

There are also five poster-sized copies of the plans. Here's a size-comparison with my cat:

By the same name, there is also a more detailed book coming out in September which is a limited edition of 5000. They are very expensive, naturally, but the trailer and site are worth a peek:

Sweet! I love that they went so far as to give a breakdown of the cockpit in the X-Wing :D

I know, right?

It was funny, we had a brief chat with the artists and I asked how much free-reign they had when it came to designing what went inside of the ships and weapons, or at least how much they had to confirm to some Lucas enforced guideline, and their answer was essentially: they just made it up. They were just given the go-ahead to make up whatever names and designs they wanted. Chris Trevas seemed as amused by that fact as I was :lol

Welp, if that isn't one of the best jobs ever I don't know what is :lol

That's really awesome, although I would have worked with the guys at LucasArts and Lawrence Holland (X-Wing, TIE Fighter and XvT)
