So we need a place to discuss the newest ASoiAF book, separate from the TV show. And, here it is! PLEASE use spoiler tags until August 12th. Unless other people think its necessary, it should not be necessary to tag anything from the other four books.

But really, if you haven't read the other four books, what are you doing in the ADWD thread? ;) I don't have my book yet so I won't be posting again in here until probably July 12th. Can't wait!n Or rather, I have been waiting since 2005, so a few more days isn't likely to kill me.

Because I didn't know that it was one of the books :shakefist - I just thought you'd been dancing with dragons or something :p. I'll leave now. :angel

What? He's finally releasing it? Took him only what...six years to finish it?

Yeah, just 10 more years until we have the full story. Fortunately and I think this is not a spoiler he unites the story lines from ALL the first 3 books at the end of this book.

I don't know how many pages I'm in, since I'm reading on Kindle, but I've read 3% of the book so far :lol I tried to read a bunch on the plane home from LA but I had a small child irritating the fuck out of me for the whole 11 hours, so concentration was hard. I'm going to bed now to try and read myself to sleep.

I've read up through the second Dany chapter. Second? Maybe third, actually. The chapter I'm on right now is Jon, and he's just been forced by Stannis to accept Rattleshirt on as an ally.

I'm about halfway through now - page 449 to be exact.

Big reveals!
Rattleshirt's true identity! OMG! And of course baby Aegon IS alive, just as the internet said. ANd Davos is NOT dead, just as I hoped. I also hate Ramsay Snow/Bolton with a passion. He is so evil.

lol you are at the same page that I am now. I read a lot slower in English, I guess.

I am a little concerned as to what Roose Bolton's intentions are for "Reek." I know this series doesn't generally reward characters who make bad decisions but I would like Theon to have some sort of redemption arc!

I think Theon is Geoge R R Martins Gollum. He still has his role to play at the end. Just like Ilyrio Mopatis Theon has been there for a reason right from the start.

A little bit more and I will be done. I might end up finishing this book tonight since if I did not have to be at work right now I would be reading.

If GRR Martin pulls a Wheel of Time on us now before we find out if Jon survives I will personly dig him up and rape his eyeballs. I had to call my girlfriend in the middle of the night to tell her that they just stabbed Jon Snow...oh and BTW WTF Cersei finally understood what a cunt she is... 47 pages to go...this will be a long night since no one will make me put away this book now.

Varys is still badass. RIP Grand Maester Pycelle. It is very likely that Petyr lost his best puppet in king's landing while Varys' master plan unfolds at least partialy.

I think GRRM did the same thing with ADWD that HBO did with GoT he skipped all the battles.

Who will win the skirmish at the wall? The old or the new night watch?

What happened at Winterfell? Is Stannis still alive?

Will Ser Barristan Selmy successfully defend Mereen? Will Victarion and the ironborn join this battle?

Oh and BTW where is Jaime, what is to happen with Bran and how is Petyr doing at the Vale.

And the most important question: Will Samwell realize that he is in the middle of a maester conspiracy?

All those questions will be answered in 5 years ;)

So glad you guys are done!

Jon isn't dead. Or, at least, not permanently. He is Azor Aszai (can't spell it off the top of my head), so he'll be revived by Melisandre most likely, probably after warging into Ghost for a bit.

Ramsay is a bastard. Ugh, what a horrible human being. Theon's chapters were the best in the book. I am pretty sure most of Ramsay's letter to Jon was bullshit, except maybe the part about Mance. :ohno

Lord Manderly is so cool. I am not sure if he's alive or dead but I hope alive.

Dany... Ugh. I understand GRRM's problems with getting her out of Mereen (double ugh) because it's a case of a character being stubborn. He couldn't just write her leaving because Dany was determined to stay and rule. Drogon came and carried her off, but although she seems to have had some sort of epiphany she is still no closer to actually leaving.

Of course in the next book Tyrion will rise up with his Second Sons, Victarion will arrive with his giant fleet and help Dany tame her dragons, and they'll hopefully burn Meereen to the ground.

Ser Kevan. :( RIP.

Pretty pleeease put speculations for the next book in separate spoilers tags to stuff that has actually happened in ADwD. Even if they aren't confirmed 'spoilers' - I just don't really want to read any theories about what is coming (...5 years from now) ^_^;
