Season 4 of True Blood arrives this Sunday!
I did watch the first 8 minutes of the first episode last Sunday after the season finale of Game of Thrones, and I have to admit to being underwhelmed. I've not been totally happy with their depiction of the faeries, and the goofy aspect was kind of off the chart in the first 8 minutes. But I trust the rest of the season will be better than that clip. :)
I'll be curious to see how much this season will follow Book 4 in the series. If it follows it closely, then Team Eric will be happy. Very happy. :D
BTW, my copy of EW that arrived today actually had Eric in the picture, not Bill!

Ive found with this show that each season there is always one of the story aspects that I really dont like very much, ( for example, hated the Marianne thing and also the trashy family of Sams) but its all the rest of the goings on that keeps me hooked. The faery thing might just be the one for me for season 4..
And, more of Eric is always a good thing.

Um...well...that wasn't worth waiting 9 months for. :\
I'm totally used to the stories diverging from the books, that's okay with me, but now they've made one change that's just too weird, at least for now: Bill is now the King of Louisiana? Er, no, I don't think so. O_o

Felt like I was watching an episode of Buffy the vampire slayer at the beginning. I was completely underwhelmed and disappointed with the premier until the middle'ish when Eric started his monologue for the camera. After that bit the show seemed to start clicking back into trueblood mode.
Diggin' it.

The season premiers for True Blood were never that special in the first place. It is the cohesive whole of the full season which is so entertaining, and kinda drags you in like a magnet after a while. I am not worried. :)
Good to have this show back.

It was the first season premiere I've been disappointed with, and it's the first episode of the series ever where I wasn't left salivating with anticipation over what will happen next. I felt overwhelmingly "eh, whatever" at the end of the episode.
But don't get me wrong, I'll definitely be watching the rest of the season, and I do hope the quality of the episodes gets better. I'd hate to think that this show is jumping the proverbial shark already. :\

If you have HBOgo (you should its so wonderful) the second episode is available to watch right now. I've heard its really good - but I haven't watched it yet. I don't like having to wait two weeks for a new episode :lol! We watched the early HBOgo episode of GoT and it was torture waiting, hahaha.
The fairy land bits at the beginning of the premiere reminded me of Star Trek or Buffy, but it was ok. True Blood usually gets stronger and stronger and better and better as the seasons go on.
I also liked the year fast forward, it was a cool way to refresh the characters and scenario, I think.

I liked it. Always, their episodes start off slow and then a whole lot happens in the last 5 mins.
I havent read any of the books, so thankfully I cant compare when the show deviates.
I like whats happening with Jason. Thank God, as his character usually makes me crazeey in a general, overall, all the time kind of way :)
On a side-note - A guy that sometimes rides the bus with me in the morning looks just like Andy Bellefleur.

The second episode was much better, although it's still not completely jelling for me. The Sam/Tommy storyline is still really weak. But I do love baby Mikey :evil.

Good grief Arlene is going to mess that poor kid up. Terry has his work cut out for him.

Poor kid? It's the devil! Burn it with fire!
On another note. I know you ladies saw Jason Stackhouses Abs. Good lord. Those things were insane. He needs to share that secret.

The witches are the best storyline so far. I am looking forward to where they are going with it. It is ironic that Fiona Shaw who played a person who hated witches in Harry Potter now playing a witch.

Season 4 finale. Awesome. Sad. Exciting. Hilarious. I've come to the conclusion that true blood finales are about everyone losing their god damn minds.
My review in earnest:
Holy fuck.

Couldn't have said it better myself. :eek
I enjoyed the season, although it was probably my least favorite so far. But the season finale...what a damn freak show. An insane rollercoaster ride that was way, way, WAY better than last year's finale. That, my friends, is how cliffhangers should be done.
Jesus gone...poor Lafayette. Debbie gone, pretty much in the way she went bye-bye in the book. Nan gone, dammit, I thought she was awesome. Tara gone? I don't know for sure...either she could be saved via vamp blood, or maybe she'll be turned vamp herself. This storyline isn't in the books so I have no clue.
Steve Newlin with fangs!!!! Halloween costume or really turned vamp? Who is the werewolf who showed up growling at Sam?
And my favorite of all...Russell Edgington is BACK, baby!!!
Despite the fact that this season wasn't my favorite, there was more than enough in the finale to leave me already salivating for season 5.

Tara - I'm pretty sure she's dead. I don't think you survive long after a shotgun blast to your head and there was a LOT of blood. (plus when I watched it seemed like part of the side of her head was blown off - looked not as bad when Sookie was holding her.) And you can't be saved via vamp blood when yer ded.
Lafayette - I heard the actor is in a new show? Is he doing both? I want Lafayette to be sassy again, poor guy, just had his closest family killed and his partner too. :(

There's definitely a good chance Tara is dead. If that's the case, I'm okay with it...I think in a lot of ways the character has outlived her usefulness. But it would be kind of interesting if she were turned vamp. After all, she hates vamps, so it could be a potentially intriguing storyline if she became what she hates.

Tara spoiler next season - I did read, can't find the link now of course, that she will be back in some fashion next season. Maybe as a vampire? Could be interesting!

Yup, just saw a link to an interview with Rutina Wesley, although I didn't read the whole article itself. Her contract option for season 5 has been picked up, so Tara WILL be back. She just doesn't know in what fashion, she says Alan Ball is being very coy about it.
