Doktor Klaus Heidegger

Doktor Klaus Heidegger stood in a large laboratory underneath the Jericho Center. The Jericho Center was referred to as The Jozua Clinic of course, and the secret lab was referred to as "down below."
No one could know of the lab's existence without the proper clearances. And once you knew about the clearances, you didn't leave until you were let go. Let go could mean retirement, or it could mean becoming part of the experiments as a test subject rather than an experimenter. Klaus hated to do it, as it meant he had to waste time looking through resumes, getting background checks for clearances, training, and then making sure the new hire had the constitution to continue the work the previous scientist started.
He had not had a new hire in years. The current experiment had been three years in the making, and passed all preliminary tests. Now it was time to perform a field test.
"We have the control mechanism?" Klaus asked the lead technician.
"We do, Doktor. Will you be testing it yourself?"
Klaus smirked. "Soon, but only after I've collected some data. You say the control has a 50 mile range?"
The tech nodded. "Yes, though that range only extends from the Jozua Clinic. Without our machines to push the signal farther, the current maximum range of command is about thirty yards."
Klaus nodded and took the device. "First I need a mind that is cunning, clever, and almost as smart as I am." Klaus pulled his Droid and sent an e-mail to his newest employee: Julie Moon.
Field testing a contract project involving the nature of the psychic mutant X-Gene. Need a focused, clever, disciplined mind. Meet in Lab 2-A at 1400 to consult with me.
