Luminos

As the Exile traveled through hyperspace, Luminos had her mind directed towards what laid ahead of her almost a much as where she was coming from. She didn’t know much about the Force, but it seemed to always be working to include her in its path of chaos.

It wasn’t like Luminos hated the Force… no, she have no feelings either way. Luminos, like most Chiss loved order. The Force couldn’t be calculated or quantified in a scientific way so how it worked was beyond her comprehension.

But that didn’t mean it didn’t work.

Since her exile from Csilla and <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comhttp://sw-fans.net/forum/ /><st1:PlaceName w:st=Chiss Territory, she had encountered a few Jedi and had seen them perform wonders that science would never be able to explain. She had even gotten a chance to talk to a couple of them and the most scientific answer they came up with was some DNA bugs called midichlorians. At first she thought it was a species specific ability, but then it was revealed that the Force was present through most species. She learned about what they stood for and what they wanted to accomplish in the galaxy and knew this was the group for her.

It was as if the Force had sealed her fate for her. Every where she had stopped on her trip toward the Inner Rim had always had her come across Jedi that needed a ride. Didn’t these Jedi have any ships?, she had thought. The Jedi she had been transporting at that time had just laughed. She smiled at the thought of that encounter, but it sobered as her thoughts drifted to her most recent and last encounter.

She had stumbled upon the battle by accident. It was a small courier ship that must have been even older than her own. It was damaged and under fire from a flight of TIEs. Off in the distance was an Imperial Patrol ship. She had decided to engage the TIEs. Why??? She had no idea, but it just seemed the right thing to do. Her laser turrets had made quick work of the TIEs and the patrol ship was too far away to stop her from pulling the courier onboard.

She remembered running to the small hangar as the Exile jumped to hyperspace again. The one crewman was barely alive and he was an old grizzled man. His brown robes were worn bare, torn and ragged. Luminos recognized them as Jedi Robes. She helped him out of the ship and immediately rushed him the only Bacta Tank on the ship. He was submerged for 4 days for his wounds. In the end, it didn’t help, but it did give her a week to sit and talk to him.

His name was Ulric Sal’Donna and he had been a Jedi Master during the Clone Wars. During the Purge, he had been out in the Outer Rim and had hidden from the Jedi Hunters. He had recently received news of the Wheel, a mobile Jedi base and was returning to it. Knowing that he wasn’t going to make it, he had recorded all his information on a datapad and given it to Luminos, who promised that she would deliver the message, his belongings, and the holocron that he carried to the Wheel.

That was 3 days ago, and now, she was only 3 minutes from arriving at the last known location of the Wheel. The belongings of Ulric had been sealed in a container in her quarters. Luminos had been there for his last breaths.

She had been awed by his peaceful nature as death approached. He had told her that death was not the end of the journey, merely the next step and that most Jedi didn’t fear it. She had told him that she would miss him, but he had given her a sly wink, as if he knew something and said that they would meet again.

That had confused her. She had chalked it up to his dying mind, but it had stayed in the back of her mind since that date.

Then his body had disappeared… it just vanished. That was spooky and had really left her unsettled. Did all Jedi do that? It would explain why there were no Jedi Cemeteries.

Shaking her head, she brought her attention back up to the here and now. It wouldn’t make a difference if they blew her out of the water upon arrival.

“We’re arriving Commander.”

“Thank you helm. Steady as we go.”

The timer stopped and the Exile dropped from hyperspace. Sensors began to scan the area and shields came up but all weapons were left cold.
