Tatooine

Being lost in a sandstorm is not a laughing matter as Enya had found herself in. Sand lashed at her bear arms and legs and stung her eyes, but she kept on her way. Enya was a young girl probubly arownd the age of 14 she had lived on Tatooine her hole life but she longed to leave. Her parents had died when she was very young. ~ how am i ever going to find my way?~she thought coughing from the dust and sand. Enya's long blond hair blew in her face as she kept her back to the wind, but it sadly did not seem to help much. After what seemed like hours but had probubly only been a few minets Enya clapsed. She had been lost for days with out food or water. ~ why did i ever leave home~ she thought weakly before passing out.

What had he accomplished ultimately? His tan eyes traced the paths of the sand dunes while his mind traced similarly through the rolls of time. Tatooine was his home, but not his true home. The boy genius had been born to simple people, on a simple planet, ultimately destined to wither and die here with his talent unspent. Instead, this child of Anchorhead took his destiny in his tiny fist and made it his own. The following adventure took him across the galaxy and he studied under men of knowledge and intellect, but it had not been enough to sooth his hunger not just for knowledge, but for everything. His destiny mutated again, taking him in turn to the secret order of Force users who called themselves the Sith. They taught him many things. Horribly things, but also useful things.

Now he was back here, where he started. On Tatooine. He had promised himself he would never come back here, but the abandonment of his master Baralai Lotus and even the other mentors he had picked up had left him with nowhere else to go. His parents welcomed him home, but at the same time they kept their distance. While almost an adult himself, he was still a child in their eyes, but his eyes had become harsh and cold, as did his demeanor. His frightened them. So he was out here, in the dunes just outside Anchorhead. A dangerous place, what with sand people and other beasts loose in the wild, but he was unafraid. He was more than just a boy with a short stature. He was capable of horrors other's could not even understand.

A sandstorm began to kick up, the wind grabbing at the loose tan clothing he wore and caused the numerous jewerly in his ears and around his neck and wrists to jingle madly. Let it come. He found an outcropping of rocks to use as a safety net and removed a blanket from the pack he had brought with him. He pinned it down with stakes and then stepped out into the fury of the sandstorm. Concentrating his mind he concentrated the all powerful force around his person, attempting to push the sand back, to create a bubble of safety around his face so that he could still breath. It was difficult, but he was getting better at it. He always came out here in the sandstorms to practice and was becoming quite adept and using telekinetic properties of the force to make a safety bubble around. A sort of particle shield similar to those on a starship to keep debris from damaging the hull.

However, something was different. He felt a lifeform out there. Not an animal one. He would he hard pressed to pick up something so small and unintelligent, but a human mind on the other hand flared up like a fire in his mind's eye. Someone lost in the storm? Perhaps. He cared little but it could be anyone. Could be his mother or father coming to save him in a sandstorm they might believe he was lost in himself. Bother. Taking a step his bubble fading around his face. It was hard to control while moving. Instead he took his sleeve and held it in front of his face, using the force to guide his sandaled steps as he moved through the sand. It was getting really bad out here now. If he was using his eyes he would be incapable of seeing beyond his nose, but the force was his guide and let him true. He came upon a body on the ground, slowly being covered with sand. Crouching down with his back to the wind, he grabbed the body and half carried, half dragged it back toward the way he came. Normally this would be an impossible feat, but the force led him back to his rock and his shelter. He carried the person underneath the cloth and did his best to pull the makeshift shelter as closed as possible to allow as little sand to enter.

Clearing the sand from his eyes he saw the person was a girl. Young. He hardly cared. It was not his mother or father. It was not that he was an apathetic person, he just found it hard to care about people he did not know, and this person was indeed a stranger. She seemed okay despite her narrow escape from the storm. The storm only lasted an hour and moved on. Ezra slipped from the shelter to survey the damage. His tarp was pretty broken up from the storm and he would have to replace it. Again. The dunes had been ravaged and changed, and would make it difficult for a normal person to find their way back to town, but not for Ezra. If one mind was easy to find, a hundred were even easier. He knew the way back, but he could not carry the girl, not with his small stature and lack of strength. He could use the force, but that was risky. He would rather not give that away and have the Empire or worse coming down on his head.

Using the back end of a hammer, Ezra set out to remove the stakes now that his rescuee was conscious. Ezra was no doctor but he had studied the human body quite a bit and did not see anything wrong with her. As the first few stakes were pulled out the tarp fell away and let the harsh Tatooine sunlight in. The sun was starting to go down as evening came, but it would be some hours after dark before the heat of the sand cooled. "You are on the edge of the dune sea. To the west lies Anchorhead." He said as he pulled the tarp free finally and rested his tan eyes on the girl again, only now noticing the wings. In the confusion and dark of the sandstorm he had not seen them. Now he was infinitely curious, but perhaps for all the wrong reasons.

"Are you a Diathim of Lego?" The so called 'angels' had not been a sight he had ever beheld. However, in his studies with Baralai they had covered a lot of known species and their applications to what they called Sith Alchemy. The Diathim's had come up several times. As the most prominent humanoid race with natural occurring wings they would a prime ingredient when grafting a new species with alchemy. Not that he intended to haul this girl off and experiment on her. Hardly. He did not have the facilities or supplies for such a thing, but he did want to know if she was, in fact, an Angel, or some other unheard of species, or perhaps a product of some twisted experiment.

His mind was abuzz at the possibilities.

"Diathim do not occur often outside of Lego. The Empire does not like them very much. I heard they even went as far as putting a blockade on the planet at one time or another. I have never seen one in my lifetime. Some consider it good luck to meet a so called 'Angel' of Lego. However, there are more important questions to ask, such as what were you doing out here on the cusp of the Dune Sea during a sandstorm? It is dangerous enough to be out here without a sandstorm blowing. Krayt Dragons sometimes get as bold as to venture this close to the city, among other beasts."

Banished? That would explain why she was here. A fallen angel, then? He would laugh at the irony later. Somewhere alone where no one could hear his verses of giggles. Ezra shook the sand out of his dirty blonde hair and then proceeded to smack the sand out of his clothes, the sand coming off with dust clouds. "It's not hard to get lost out here. Every dune looks the same. You should probably get indoors before you die of exposure. You can follow me to Anchorhead if you wish. It's the closest city. Just over the dunes, that way..." He pointed. If you found a tall enough dune you would be able to see the city over the tops of the other dunes. It would take maybe an hour to walk back. In the meantime he started folding up his tarp and getting his bag ready to leave. His training session had been interrupted and he was not too pleased about that, but this was Tatooine. There would be other sandstorms. Other opportunities.

"They will. You can have no doubt of that. Diathim are rarely seen in our galaxy anymore. If you can I could procure you a coat to cover your wings." He said as he started to walk toward Anchorhead. The city would be in an uproar. Anchorhead was not Mos Eisely but people would see this Angel and only think to their own angles. The religious fanatics and the sex slavers would come pouring out into the streets to battle for the right to such a legendary creature who's very appearance was something unnatural in this world. Ezra was not so enchanted. He was a man of science and logic and saw nothing to gain from this girl. Although, he was feeling quite generous today or he would not have offered her such help. Perhaps he was falling into the enchantment, ever so slowly.

"I am called Ezra."

"Your choice." Was all he had to say on the matter before continuing on his way. "Anchorhead is not precisely the most lawful town in the galaxy. By Tatooine standards it's a beacon of civilization. Unlike cities like Mos Eisley. Just bare in mind that you may get some unwanted attention once we enter the city limits." That was about as precise a warning as he could give. They may react in a plethora of ways. Reverence, jealousy, or greed. "May I be allowed to ask what you are doing out here in the middle of a sandstorm?"

They walked without another word for the almost an hour trip it took to climb up and down the fresh dunes the storm had shifted. Ezra remained true to the course and soon the walls and rooftops of Anchorhead came into view over the top of the dune horizon. Trudging on the entrance of the city was soon before them, and then they were inside. There were no guards here. The greater danger was inside the city, not outside it. The occasional wild animal may wander close, but most stayed away. Hutt gangsters and petty criminals were a more commonly found danger. This was no Mos Eisely, but it was hard to find a town or settlement on Tattooine that the Hutts didn't have their tails in.

However, he was still undecided whether he would help her if any trouble arose. Deep down he wanted to keep his identity was a force adept as secret as possible. In a galaxy dominated by a military tyranny that hates and kills force adepts, there was no such thing as too secret. She did not seem to have a care in the world at the moment, but that could just be because she had absolutely no idea where she was or what was at stake. Ezra was young, but he had lived with monsters for a few years and thought he knew the way the galaxy worked now. He could be wrong, but he is a genius.

"You have nothing I desire." He concluded as they entered the city walls. The entire sprawling city stretched out before them. Stalls setting up, shops opening their windows, and the buzz of newly awakened people out looking for a deal. The bazaar was as good a place as any to leave her. She could find anything she required here, provided she had the necessary currency. "I must return to my home. I wish you luck on your journey." And with that he turned and headed off down one of the bazaar streets which would eventually lead him to his parents' home.
