That'll be a day trip to Key West. I've been down to Key Largo before, I don't know if I've been down as far as Marathon or not. Unless we're spending a night down there, I guess we won't be snorkeling the reefs?
That sounds dirty. :mischief

What's the weather been like there, Morg? I am attempting to figure out what clothing I will need to drag with me and if I can get away with a larger carry on so I don't have to check the "suitcase of doom" :lol

High of about 80 F (26.5 C), low about about 70 (21 C).
Next week is looking cooler, with the high of about 70-75 (~21-22 C) and the lows 55-60 (~13-15 C).
T-shirt and shorts weather for the most part. I would be really surprised if it ended up colder than 55 at night, and colder than 70 in the day.

I've seen it, it's one of the Sci-Fi original horror movies. I think Megashark vs Supergator or something like that has some scenes in Miami and then the Caribbean/Panama as well.

Nov 8th, 2011, 09:56:05 PM
We could but I'm not really sure where we will find the time to hit the range. Also, the range here requires a safety course.
On the other hand:
While it's a pain in the ass for everyone else to get a range card (the class is almost an hour long), the range is nice, inexpensive ($10 flat fee for usage) and not hard to get to.
My Dad has put together some decent pieces of Eastern Block milsurp (SKS and Mosin carbine) plus a Marlin 918 bolt action 22, an awesome Stoger semi-auto shotty, and a few other things I can't remember off the top of my head. I still have my 24/7 9mm. It's ok. I'm thinking about selling it an getting a CZ-75 instead.
7.62x54 is awesome fun. When you shoot it people know.
The other range is indoors and honestly it's just too loud and much more expensive.
TL:DR - getting everyone a range card is kind of time consuming but if most people are down I've got no problem making it happen.

I'll pencil it in as a maybe, pending other interest. We had fun poppin targets in the desert wasteland, so might be worth a go.

You bet they do...
The H&K G3 used to be still the standard rifle when I did my draft. The G3 is a full recoil reloader unlike the M16 the locking piece does not have gas support. So if you fire that gun your shoulder gets an idea what devastation those 7.62 rounds will leave on the other end of the barrel.

Did you complete your Visa waiver application yet, Peter? You will need to provide the address we are staying at on there, if you don't have that already.
You don't need to print the Visa paperwork out and take it with you to customs, but you do need to be electronically registered: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/

I will be wearing a black T-Shirt that says "These are not the droids you are looking for".
I will arrive at South Terminal J at 14:40 (plus customs)
Where do the others arrive? Do we have a general meeting spot or will we pick up each other one by one.
Morgan Evanar
Nov 9th, 2011, 05:59:03 PM
I'm going to have to go through everyone's arrival times again but it looks like mostly single-shots. You and Jones come in 2-3 hours apart, and I'm close enough where it doesn't make sense to sit in the airport for 3 hours. Brian comes in tomorrow, and Em on Saturday. Charley and Christin are driving (you poor bastards) and so is Kraken.
I need to get my wireless controller back from a friend, but I have a wired one.

There is wifi in London Heathrow so I will email you to confirm that my flight is leaving on time, however I will just apologise in advance for however long I take to clear customs. It took my entire flight 2 hours to get through LAX, due to some scheduling fuckups that had about 2 customs officers dealing with about 6 flights arriving all at the same time from Europe.
Hopefully, my mobile phone will actually work in Miami, so I can just give you a call once I am out of the terminal. If not, I will once again be relying on the kindness of strangers to let me borrow their phone to call you.
Also, on a slightly more cheerful note, I discovered I will get 25,000 bonus air-miles with American Airlines for this trip!
