Weird - we've got ten early games on Sunday instead of the usual seven, and that includes games in Dallas and St. Louis, while the Pittsburgh game is late. I guess CBS might have been clearing its schedule for the Steelers-Jets game, which is certainly the biggest match-up they have this weekend. Meanwhile, Fox has a few marquee games with the Eagles at Giants, Ravens at Saints, and Redskins and Cowboys (always a big draw even when the teams are doing badly), all at 1:00 eastern. Wouldn't have thought the networks would take so much trouble to keep out of each other's way.

Sorry, just had to satisfy my psychological need to comment on minutiae.

The Monday night game will be played outdoors in Minnesota. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5926661
I don't get the complaints, I have always thought the Vikings should have an outdoor stadium. Football is meant to be played outdoors. It should be an interesting game to watch. Perhaps we will get another ice bowl.

Liam Jinn was totally supposed to make my pick for me. I have the texts to prove it!

You can keep the point, though it really would be easier if you two would just pick your own darn games when possible. :mneh

The refs have made some big errors in the Jaguars-Colts game. First, they let the Jaguars run a third-and-four play (stuffed for no gain), and then declared that third down had to be replayed because "there was no foul on the play." The Jaguars failed to convert on their next third down try, but they converted on fourth (fifth) down and ended up scoring a field goal.

Now we just had a Jaguars punt return for a touchdown after the returner appeared to wave for a fair catch - he waved his left arm in a vague circular motion around his head level. Now, by rule, that is an invalid fair catch signal, which is a penalty (to call a fair catch, you're supposed to fully extend your arm above your head and wave side-to-side). That penalty is almost never called; instead, refs broadly interpret any sort of waving motion as a fair catch. Either way, there is no way that return should have been allowed to continue. The NFL is going to be issuing the Colts an apology after this game.

EDIT: Oh, no! Austin Collie, who already missed five games with a concussion, was just hit very awkwardly going up the seam and is down and motionless on the field. A Jaguars defender came rushing in and did not hit him in the head, but his arm got caught very awkwardly around Collie's neck, and Collie's head hit the ground very hard. It wasn't a dirty or reckless play, it was just very unlucky, one of those that they're not going to be able to take out of the game.

Collie was able to get up and walk to the locker room under his own power. Here's hoping he recovers quickly, but I'll be surprised if we see him again this season.

EDIT EDIT: Wow. Despite the refs helping them score ten points, the Jaguars are looking absolutely inept. I think the Colts are going to reclaim the AFC South after all.

The end of the PHI- NYG game was stunning. Absolutely stunning. Joe Buck just described it as a collapse, and I think that's putting it in kind terms.

Overall I've botched a lot of my picks so far today. :x

Ugh, two plays in a row the refs allow Antonio Rodgers-Cromartie to interfere with Mike Wallace without a flag. Hopefully Tomlin talks to them and asks them to look for things like yanking on his player's jerseys and shoulderpads while the ball is in the air...

Looks like it's about time to shuttle the Broncos off to the Glue Factory, not that I didn't see this one coming. Agree with Rutabaga though, I've missed a lot of picks today myself.

As much as I dislike the Patriots, that kickoff return by Connelly was without a doubt the funniest thing I've seen all day. :lol

Crazy day overall, although the Eagles-Giants game will become a classic with the Jackson punt return the play of the year. I was glad the Chiefs beat the Rams, they really needed Cassel back and looked great considering he just had his appendix taken out. They just need to win their last two home games. I am not worried about Tennessee (I know they won today but they still don't impress me), Oakland worries me. I remember them knocking the Chiefs out of the playoffs years ago.
