I'm a bit confused is it Orginal D&D? Or is an up to date new version of D&D with the old style red box?

To simplify what I want to know is it TSR (Aka Gary Gygax's D&D) or is it Wizards of the coast D&D? Cause if it's up to Date wizards 4th edition bah even at it's relativily cheap price.

Taking a closer look it looks like it could be orginal D&D reprint by wizards there just isn't enough info on that page.lol

As far as I'm aware, it's 4th Edition material inside the old style box.

I wish I had people to play pen-and-paper rpg's with.

So you have never played D&D before or have you never played a pen and paper game before?

Me too :( I'm on the lookout... do you and Droo fancy a nerdy weekend playing sometime?

Both!

I can't speak for Droo, but I'd be all for it.

We did some Vampire a while back, but I think he's lost interest in that stuff. I've got several rpg books that I'd love to get stuck into. But sadly it's not much fun on your own.

I love the excitment in the room when everything depends on one saving throw.

When I have to do it myself I normaly stand up throw the dice and turn around...I am such a drama queen :)

Since you will end up as a game master Jenny one advice for your gaming sessions. ALWAYS hide your dice throws.

It completly destroys the atmosphere if your dark elf queen throws a 1 at her first assault and ends up on her face for 2 rounds.

The Epic Encounter on the lava bridge became the memorable moment where all heros grabbed one limb of her and threw her into the lava. Shortest epic encounter ever.

I haven't looked at the GM material. I didn't know whether it would spoil my first experience playing the game with others.. whenever that is ^_^;

I haven't played D&D myself but the rules of the Dark Eye are pretty similar so we could play this over VOIP or on BN one night :)

To bad I don't live closer I haven't played a Pen and Paper rpg in weeks and I'm kind of jonesing for a fix. Oh well got rifts on sunday I hope. I would suggest playing before GMing. For many reasons but the main one is playing first is a great way to learn the system where as to some exstent DM need to already know the system.

Vent + some kind of chat program that allows dice rolls and some form of drawing would be perfect for this.

Might be worth a look. I'd seriously be up for that. Tabletop RPGing over the net would be a lot of fun. With Google Images and Youtube for setting the scene with pics and music, it's be really accessible.

I've got a number of RPG books. Star Wars 2nd Edition (West End Games, not WotC), Vampire: Dark Ages and Vampire: The Msquerade, Star Trek TNG RPG and Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying. With your DND there's a nice mix of genres. I've even got the Aliens RPG book! :)

I would be up for giving it ago sometime this week, if we can find a workable program :)

I love pen & paper. Me and the guys I play with end up exasperating our DM because we somehow always manage to get into a bar fight. Last time it was gypsies and I was dragged down the bar counter and then thrown like a sack o' potatoes (BOIL 'EM MASH 'EM STICK 'EM IN A STEW) onto some poor fella.

Or the Castle Ravenloft adventure where my buddy's girlfriend played a pixie and convinced one of the enemy guards we were secret agents for the big boss and we went through the entire level without fighting more than three people. The DM was slowly going insane at all the traps that wouldn't now be set off because of the pixie.

When I play the DM I normally laugh at all the suggestions what players might try in certain adventure books because I know that my group will always come up with something completly different.

And everytime I want to give them a friendly ally for an adventure this character will always get bullied and considered a douchbag while on the other hand they will always get along with the bad guys very well although this was not intended in the first place.
"Hey Peter we thought the guy with the black cloak and the goaty was our friend why does he betray us now?"
"Guys, he slaughtered half a village 3 hours ago and his cloaths have the smell of death around them."
"Oh I get it now... We just thought he had an attitude problem and that he was just one of your red herrings."
"Nope this was pretty straight forward"
"Don't tell me now that the woman we hung 2 hours ago was not a witch and that she honestly wanted to help us."

So I was in Waterstones and saw it for £15.99. Bought it and got given £4 change I wasn't owed. So it cost me £12 - score! :)

So I've got my own copy for whenever you wanna give it a go, Jenny.

Peter and I have designs on some Vampire: The Dark Ages "pen & paper" if anyone is interested :) We are still working out the best way to do die rolls online.

Speaking of: http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/ - this doesn't seem to be, here's a test roll Charisma 3 + Music 3 (6d6=27) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2713491/)

That site, plus something like Ventrilo would do. Ideally some sort of chat client that allows rolling of dice plus some form of shared drawing feature would be great. Keep an eye out for anything that might work. I've done some searches and so far the good ones are a bit extortionate.

That Invisible Castle is quite good because it keeps a history of a characters rolls (if you sign up for free), and you can add notes in there.

Nice! You did better than I did; I didn't die, but Fyodor the Minotaur didn't kill one person throughout the entire thing. Fyodor pretty much beat them within one inch of their lives and someone pushed them that one inch. |I

Also, bad one liners:

Bad Guy: "Fools! You cannot kill me! I am forever!"
Fyodor: "Only diamonds are forever." *stab*

When playing D&D (and most other games) I always get stuck playing the tank or the support/heals. So I never get any kills. At least I get to play out my Dwarf fetish.

I always choose something a bit different, to the point where my friend noted that it seems that I like to make characters more than play them.

I've made quite a lot of characters. Most of which have never been played, but I haven't played much D&D for truth. My group hasn't gotten together in a year. Best moment was having to roll a check against getting a STD, and winning.

I always end up playing paladins or lawfull good knights when I do not do the GM.
