Because this seems like a fun concept and I like hopping on bandwagons. I won't post an entire list of people here because it'd just be obscene. Instead Here is the Magic List (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?t=19353).

So yes, any questions about any of them that you'd like answered, fire away!

Why don't we ever RP together, aside from the thing with Taa & the Twins and the occasional Rogue Squadron fling?

I did want to ask about the Twins, is there a bigger plan at work in that thread? I'd like the chance for a little intrigue at some point :)

Questions, questions, questions... Hmm.

Quite a few of your characters seem to have been transferred across from other boards. Which ones are oldies from elsewhere, and which ones were new for Fans?

I don't know much about Reginald and Desmond, aside from the fact that they're all kinds of crazy and awesome. What's their story? Given the ages... are they Padawans from the Old Order, or are they just random Force Sensitives that slipped through the cracks?

Cleo's accent is totally crazy... where is she from? Is the accent based on anything (a real, regional dialect), or is it something you've made up? Are there "rules" to help you work out how to write it?

Also, Sadie has an accent too. Do you find it more fun to write in accents? Do you just follow particular rules for what letters to change and what-not? Do you find yourself reading what you've written out loud to make sure it sounds right?

:ohno I don't know. We should fix this.

I'm totally open to any ideas there! Think maybe you, me, and Jenny need to brainstorm a bit! I don't have any initial ideas for anything bigger there, but with the KA, there always seems to be some sort of ulterior motive so we can take it a lot further than just some simple meeting to fix trade agreements.

Quite a few of them were brought over, really. Most with minimal changes! Emelie, Cleo, Desmond, Reginald, Sadie, the Twins and Vikki are pretty much exactly how they were on the other board they all came from. Ariana came over as well but has changed from being a Jedi to now having no force abilities at all. Leliel has...kinda changed. Kinda being the key word. She was hard to describe over at the other place...I think Jenny and Dani can vouch for that.

Charlotte was the first character I actually made at Fans for Fans. Which might explain why I've found it far easier to integrate her into everything. I didn't have preconceived ideas for how I wanted her to be. She evolved here and that has worked out nicely.

Slipped through the cracks indeed! I really wanted to keep my original idea for them in tact and I think I've managed to do that. Basically I had it in my head that at some point during the Old Republic, there was a Jedi who saw it necessary to preserve Jedi ideas and such, but without having it actually tied to the Jedi Order. Maybe he had a dream about Order 66, maybe it was just a whim. Either way, he established essentially what is a force-worshiping church on Dantooine, monks and the like. They weren't force sensitives, just simple scholars in some backwater part of the planet. Naturally they didn't attract much attention.

Desmond and Reginald were brought to that monastery when they were young. Desmond probably a small child and Reginald no more than an infant. I figure their mother was something suitably scandalous and couldn't afford to take care of her children and so passed them on to the place to be raised and taken care of.

THIS is where their story got different. On the boards I brought them from the Jedi and Sith were out in the open, Desmond originally went to go join the Jedi upon being chosen to do so by his order after they pretty much figured out he was force sensitive. Reginald got angry that he wasn't chosen, convinced he was "better" and so destroyed the place and ran off to the Sith.

Over here at Fans... we worked it so that Darth Saevita was on hiding on that planet, pretty much sensed Reginald out...figure he had anger issues and basically was an ass to begin with out of general jealousy over his brother being treated better because he...well...wasn't an ass. Same result - Place was destroyed, Reg is off with a Sith and Desmond...well... we'll get to him here in a bit. ;) I've got plans.

Cleo... deserves her own post, I feel. :lol

Cleo is from Nar Shaddaa! Born and raised.
The accent... well... THAT takes a bit of explanation. Cleo suffers from what I call the "not quite 1st person" narrative that I basically hear in my head when I go to write for her. I've toned it down somewhat (ok, so only sometimes), but basically even her narrative refused to be normal and ended up becoming more like 3rd person from Cleo's perspective so it gets a bit off-topic and rambly at times. Basically - in my head, she refuses to be normal and sensical.

Where her accent came from? My head. Seriously, I can't exactly pin-point where it came from or why I started it with her. I've just found that it fits the character. I don't really have any set rules written down, but I'm sure their in my head. I haven't had to "speak" any of her lines, but I sometimes re-read them over and tweak things that often result in them being even more scattered.

As for the actual story-based reason as to why this impish girl from the Smuggler's Moon has this effed up accent and a brain that can't seem to focus on anything other than a butterfly... that's tied into her force ability that I haven't quite gotten around to writing out yet. A few people have been told about it, but I don't quite want to toss it out to the entire board just yet.

Annnddd...

It depends on the character. If I feel an accent fits, then they get one. Sadie went to an extreme early on that...like Cleo... the narrative started to suffer from her personality edging in on it. Sadie's has more of guidelines I follow. "ing" always loses the "g" and so on. I watch a lot of Firefly when I need inspiration for how she sounds like. :lol

Stuck in prison. :ohno Ky never came to save her. :lol

Actually I read up somewhere that the planet I'm using was liberated by the Rebel Alliance at some point, though the wiki didn't provide an exact date. I was actually going to toss that out to the Rebels as something to do after Serena is rescued and things calm down a bit on the massive story thing. Maybe not so much as "Go save the intel operative!" but as a "let's go liberate this prison-planet....Oh, you're here? Bonus."

What made Em defect from the Alliance?

Emelie Shadowstar
Aug 20th, 2010, 05:10:55 PM
Honest answer? Boredom with a pinch of greed. It wasn't that she defected so much as "this not the life for me", she really didn't care about the Rebellion when she joined it was more a means to an end at the time. Fresh into the "known" world it was easy to get wrapped up into something that sounded so worthwhile, but when she realized she cared far more about herself than she did the galaxy as a whole? Meh...bye bye Alliance.

Being a mechanic paid, being a smuggler paid better and it was more exciting. ...Then again, she was a teenager at the time, so you could chalk it up to just being flighty too.

Since Kale has set a precedent for silly questions... :mischief

You've seen enough Stargate to get the gist of what goes down. If your characters found a large, superconductive metal ring capable of establishing artificial wormholes across interstellar distances in the sands of Tatooine... which of your characters would make up the team to explore the mysterious alien world on the other side... and why?

XD Ha. I like this question.

Who are you kidding? Em would sell the damned thing before any of the others could go through :p

Are you serious? :P There's far more money to be made in capturing and keeping such a piece of technology to yourself. Sure there's risks, but if you found anything advanced on the other side and found out how to reproduce it you could sell that. Not to mention if you found a more agreeable world through it that no one had ever been to - sell vacations! Charge people to use the damn thing. Nah...way more money to be had by keeping it.

Hmm... the team...

;) Can I say that Samuel Magnus heads it up? rofl... nah, I haven't even written as him yet so I'll leave him out of it.

Really I think the team would realistically be made up of like... Ariana, Charlotte, Zelenka... and then somehow the not-dead NPCs of the Cresh Taskforce. They seem like the only ones that would take it seriously enough and have it all planned out well enough that they wouldn't die if they came up against something less-than-desirable on the other side.

If it was purely from an ooc standpoint so their alliances didn't matter I'd toss Vikki Tavik and Anastasia on the mission too... Vikki simply since she'd keep people in line and focused, and Anastasia since it might be nice to have a doctor around.

Are there any regrets Em has over her the course of her life so far?

Are there any regrets Em has over her the course of her life so far?
Short answer: Lots. Not that she'd admit it... not even to herself really.

Longer answer: There's a few very specific things I think she looks back on and really has issues with. Probably has spent several drunken nights over them but attempted to basically say she was upset over something else at the time. Strangely a lot of them have to do with men. o_O

The first is definitely when she basically caused her psychiatrist to uhh...kill himself. It's one of the few times Emelie has ever used the pheromones from her Zeltron side to get anyone to do anything, and then when a male friend offered to take the blame she just kinda let him. She was about 16 at the time... but hey, she was in an asylum...what do you want? :lol

Another is when she spent some time on Zeltros... ended up getting real close to another guy, he actually ended up proposing to her and she walked out on him in that very moment. :ohno That was during her smuggling days, she basically didn't want to get tied down to anything but she still feels bad about it sometimes.

I'm sure she regrets how her relationship with Jimmy (the guy who took the fall for the psych's death - he had a brief appearance in Em's first thread here... which was after she had attempted to pull the same "trick" on him that she did to the psych in the first place. Complicated.) and the fact they've pretty much blown that to hell, considering he was pretty much her only "friend" for the vast majority of her childhood. Yeah the guy probably deserves it, but there's still the occasional pang of guilt about it, I'm sure.

...Yeah... all this probably explains why she's also terrified her current relationship with Xavier is going to just fail miserably. She figures karma will come back and get her at some point.

Leliel seems like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. What can we expect from her in the future?

What are Tavik's goals? Does she want to move into a more senior role someday, or is she the type who will be flying until she can't fly anymore?

I'd love to say I have some grand plot for her like I pretty much did with her other version over where I brought her from, but I haven't really quite figured out how to bring her out. Where she came from she was one of the more prominent "evil" figures. I basically had her blind to repercussions... at one point, apparently the Jedi felt threatened by her enough they were going to capture her apprentice just to lure her into a trap and I think they were even willing to kill her. o_O It's strange taking a character like that and bringing them to a universe where they pretty much have to keep themselves secret. I think keeping her more as the little child version is helping a bit... though I'm sure she'll start fussing with illusions and bringing around the "older" version before too long here.

I had a thread where she's arrived on Onderon, I should revive that since I was bad and just let it slip away. I'm not sure what she would do upon meeting Salem (I know we were doing it more for giggles sake), but I think that's an interesting road to go down.

I've been pondering pestering Charley and seeing if Decepsis would want anything to do with my little freak. I've always had it in my mind that Leliel was never one to be like "I use The Force", she's always been more of a "The Dark Side uses me" more that she's just a medium for it to move through type thing. I'm not sure how I want to go about changing that/translating that for Fans just yet.

Either way, I'll be doing something with her... I'm just not 100% sure what though.

What are Tavik's goals? Does she want to move into a more senior role someday, or is she the type who will be flying until she can't fly anymore?

I think being a pilot is so integrated into Tavik's personality that if it was taken away from her she'd throw a fit and be rather lost, even if it was a promotion. I think she was the kind who had model fighters up in her room when she was real little, basically dreamed about being a fighter pilot and when she was given the chance excelled because of her passion for it more than anything else.

I honestly think that she's quite happy where she is now. She gets to fly in two different squadrons, Bloodfin for the most part but she does go lead with Nightshrike every so often, especially since I get the feeling those two do run different missions without each other at times. In larger battles I'm sure she sticks with Bloodfin. But either way, she gets to fly and get to be in charge of her pilots. I don't even think being stuck on the Kalidor really bothers her any given the unique opportunity she has there.
