View Full Version : The Siege of Carshoulis

Okay, so basically I've got a plan this weekend, which is a two-front assault on a lot of the backstory of the Cizerack Pride. A good chunk of that happens to fall into the Clone Wars, where the Cizerack were signatories of the articles of secession, and a member of the Confederacy. To facilitate that, I think it might be fun to have a series of Shadows threads where folks maybe write out the Republic attack on the Carshoulis Cluster as a part of the Outer Rim sieges. Anybody down for this?

Right now, I'm thinking that Fey'dann and Kepaa Brens would be direct targets, but maybe some other actions on other planets and in the space of the cluster itself. Kepaa Brens would be the major target, as I plan to write it as a major staging area & droid manufacturing center set up by the Confederacy as a whole. Expect lots of ships, droids, Cizerack Marines, and all kinds of danger.

I can contribute a Jedi - A'na Eldhil.

Or... do some grunt work as whoever you need. Cizerack matriarch, whatever. :) Or both! :eee

Want me to toss Tionne in?

I think she would appreciate a society where women are in charge. :lol

Wouldn't mind doing the clone commando thing. Give me orders and I'm down.

All interested can join, I figure. If we need to make it a three or four planet campaign, that'll be just fine.

I figure this will be one of the first stages to the sieges, battering the door down on the Hydian Way to allow the Grand Fleet of the Republic a bit of passage onto Felucia, Mygeeto, and Saleucami

I even came up with an awesome title for it: "Pride Comes Before the Fall" which has the right amount of delicious plays on words.

What point BE is this taking place?

Possibly Salem could be with A'na at this time?

This is probably 20 or 19 BBY, so 23 or 22 BE

Adia did recon for the Republic then with non-clone troops.

Salem, Adia, Tionne, and A'na are all a go. With Zem and s'Il that makes six Jedi, which should provide for plenty of fun.

Somebody mentioned clones too. I plan on making at least one clone character for this. Heh, will probably make a few Confederacy accounts too.

This weekend is gonna own.

Sorry I did not see this thread. Looks like I missed the shuttle. Seven Jedi on a mission in Shadows era would be a little over the top. I could make a Clone Trooper, or run fleet command, or a Separatist unless you just want NPC slaughter.

Or... looking at the list again, anyone else besides Sil still a Padawan? If so, then Drin might be the guy after all. I don't see anyone in there that Drin has supposedly NOT met yet in the future. Where's Doc Brown?

I need to see if I'd be breaking any flux capacitors by stating that Zem was Rahm Kota's padawan. I think that would just be a namedrop if it even came to that but I don't think I actually named a master for him.

Aug 19th, 2010, 09:12:46 PM
There are some folks who established in a post somewhere that they did not already know Drin personally from the days of yore. At best we have only heard of each other or maybe ran across each other in passing, but not on a mission...

Serena, Sol Iman, Inyos, Barton, aaaand..... That might actually be it. Anyone who was a little youngling at the time is easy to write off as just forgetting the big kitty.

I posted once that I did not immediately recognize Sil, but that's because I had not read her back story yet. If she was Mace Windu's padawan, I knew her. We can say I didn't recognize her with the scar.

sweet, that works for me.

Now, here's some formative settings for our big battle:

Keppaa Brens - orbital "tunnel". Keppaa Brens' orbit is full of asteroids and other orbital detritus, and the planet is only easily accessible by a series of kilometer-wide "shield rings" that project a passageway through the rubble. Think "A Bridge too Far" and Operation Market Garden to some respect. Republic special forces (Jedi & ARC maybe?) would probably strike covertly to take control of both rings to control passage to lower orbit so the Grand Fleet of the Republic could exit hyperspace and begin invading. The tunnel would be narrow enough to force Venator cruisers to pass one at a time through the causeway, which would create a bottle neck, leading to...
Keppaa Brens - high orbit. A huge cock-up and a trap sprung by the Confederacy. Banking Clan frigates and Korri Galleons basically mauling the Venator cruisers at their flanks. Probably heavy losses and a lot of ship invasions as the Cizerack love to punch into ships and let their Marines fight man-to-man. Of course, this trap doesn't fully cut off the Republic and a few of their cruisers do manage to make it to...
Keppaa Brens - low orbit & surface. The Republic can hold a defensive perimeter, possibly in an abandoned city, but realize that their position isn't tenable forever and they will need to be reinforced eventually or face destruction. Meanwhile, the rest of the fleet masses near...
Fey'dann - OR - Calan. Here, the Republic licks their wounds, maybe makes a few allies on the way, and finds a way (somehow, not figured out yet) to really catch the Confederacy off guard in a second push on Keppaa Brens to link up again.

Salemescro is A'na's padawan.

Some tentative assignment planning is in work.

I think Zem will be witht he ARC force that goes in to capture the shield tunnel. He and his clone commander (either NPC'd or picked up by someone) will be forced to sabotage the shield when overrun and flee to the planet.

s'Il and her clone commander (played by me) will command Zem's star destroyer, which makes up part of the invasion fleet. If any other padawans or clones want to pick up ships too, that would be awesome.

Ground force probably would need a couple of Jedi there at least, too.

Lilaena De'Ville
Aug 19th, 2010, 11:03:33 PM
A'na and Salem(escro) are probably well suited for being on a ship, or on the ground but not in the action. We'll go where you need us.

Cool. I was hoping Drin would be a lead-from-the-front kinda guy ;) Tionne's also a good candidate for the spearhead.

I think Adia's recon background would probably get her tapped for holding one of the tunnel rings, which would mean that she, along with Zem, would make a fighting retreat down when things go bad.

A'na and Salemescro could also probably be on one of the Venators that get cut off and ambushed. That gives you a lot of options depending on how you like to play things.

Does this sound good? Is everybody accounted for and happy with that?

NO!! I am compelled to root out minutia to nitpick and argue ad infinitum as that is my purpose in life. For a thread without OOC drama is a thread without sunshine.

I, uh... no I got nothin. Sounds great. Carry on. :D

Am I just wholesale slaughtering droids or will there be a player writing the enemy on my end?

Charley
Aug 20th, 2010, 10:21:29 AM
I'll at the very least have Parack Bell in there for some enemy action. If folks want to get involved with Confederate characters too, there's no problem doing that whatsoever.

I believe that Sarrtarroa is still Sor'Arr'Fai, but to the previous Pride Mother. That would mean he could very well be involved too.

I somehow missed this scheming. If there is space, a younger Vansen Tyree was an XO aboard a Victory-class Star Destroyer at this point. I'll have to check with Dee to see if she's game for writing as the CO... but maybe we could mix in some Victory Fleet action with the Venators, for a bit of versatility? Or perhaps some eleventh hour navy reinforcements?

I'm guessing you've got too many characters for me to try and squeeze in Inyos and Mandan somewhere. >_<

I'm totally down with having Victors in the fleet for added heavy gunning to augment the carriers.

Formative ideas for fleet size:

1 x Imperator Star Destroyer
3 x Venator Star Destroyers
2 x Victor Star Destroyers
4 x Carrack Cruisers
8 x Acclimator Assault Ships

VS

1 x Lucrehulk Carrier
1 x Lucrehulk Battleship
4 x Korri Battlegalleons
6 x Munificent Frigates
8 x Seeva Pickets

Sound sexy enough?

If you'd like, y'all can be aboard the Imperator, maybe have it show up out of hyperspace in your opening post. Right now I have the flag of the fleet as the Liberty, but if we have an Imperator in the fleet, flag would pass to that ship.

Zem-El Vymes
Aug 22nd, 2010, 01:10:45 PM
I don't think we need to. We're gonna calve off the action into a few threads similar to how we did the Rescue series, so by then it should be a much smaller crowd in each. Plus, posting order KILLS threads from what I've seen. I give somebody two or three days to post. If no, I push the plot along.

I think we're fine with this many Jedi.

FYI... Drin Kizael was not a Master during the Clone Wars. He achieved the rank within weeks of Order 66 just before being sent on a solo mission. At this point he's a Knight, early 30s like Zem.

I can see where a Padawan might still refer to any Knight as "Master", though. There really is no "title" for Knights that doesn't sound awkward. I cringe at the idea of someone referring to me as "Knight Drin". Guh. I am grateful for the Lucas gaff of making everyone General in this case, ironically enough. :)

Just saying in case of confusion. The differences are subtle in the Shadows version of the character, but they are there.

Captain Untouchable
Aug 22nd, 2010, 01:49:00 PM
They're called Master, because it's traditionally the unmarried form of Mister.

Presumably, you'd also be able to refer to a female Jedi as "Mistress Jedi", or "Mistress Thanewulf" in an equivalent situation. I just think that all of the female Jedi who have been addressed in that way were Jedi Masters, so...

*shrug*
