Bargain Hunters (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?t=21212)

The setting is Lethe, a little-known junk world out of the reach of the Empire. The Wheel has rolled into system looking for scrap and parts to repair the damage they've suffered from the attack of the ISD Decimator.

This is intended to be a sandbox thread for any Wheel personnel who want to join. I fully expect there to be divergent storylines as different groups pursue different goals. I've landed the Exodus, which probably can realistically carry six or seven in addition to the scrap it'll be hauling back, but if someone else wants to land another ship nearby with another foraging party, that's just fine.

Think of this sort of like a school trip. We've got objectives to fulfill (equipment to find at a wholesale price), but I'm sure we'll have stir-crazy Jedi looking for a little excitement away from the Wheel. I already have some ideas for trouble that Akasha's going to get into.

For clarification, each group will have a copy of the equipment we're looking for, but only Sol's group, which includes Anbira and Cirr, has the authority to buy any of it on the Wheel's tab. You'll radio in what you find, and we'll either approve the purchase or say to keep looking. Of course, everbody's free to buy what they like out of their own pockets if you see something that suits your fancy.

I'll throw in Tink with the Exodus team, if that's cool with y'all.

Time to fire up the Knightfall :)

Great! The Knightfall probably will end up doing most of the scrap hauling, as Solomon's shuttle isn't that large. It's more of a spacegoing Econoline van.

Yes, but do we have to love the mountains?

I think people have figured this out, but just to make it explicit: We've got several groups searching independently, and each group has its own list of parts to find. Feel free to find a workable posting rotation within your own group. Also, for ease of reading, you can use the "reply title" field to let everyone know which group you're with.

I believe at the moment we have four groups: Solomon's, Anibra's, Tink's, and Barton's. Though Barton and Cleo are welcome to join Solomon and Cirr if they like.

^ *Seconds* Kinda... fell behind with the group I was going with (with both characters I posted as, shame on me) but...not sure if I should even post now...?

I don't understand ...? Does the dark turn of Kala and Akasha's part of the thread cause you consternation and confusion?

Yess.... yessssss... give in.... to the DARK SIDE of the posts.... bwahahahaha *coffcoff* hahaaaaa *coff!*

Ahem, anyways... >_>

Yeah, I was just wondering if there was some plan we were supposed to be following here. I thought this was supposed to be like.. a light-hearted, random thread? :huh

I...attempted to write this to sound as like...non-confrontational as possible but I'm failing miserably but I feel that if I don't post something I think my head will explode. So pardon if I come off as a bit of a bitch. If I don't...well..whoo for me just feeling paranoid! Anyway...

I don't think the turn of the thread is what's causing the "whaa?" so much as...well... it's become the thread?

Which... plot twists are good... but I'll be flat honest in that now I feel like any "random junk hunting!" post I would/could make with the character(s) I have in the thread would now be an unwanted interruption to that.

Obviously no one is stopping anyone else from posting what their character is doing... I just can't help but feel that it would be wrong to post anything like that at this point. And considering I thought this was a big group-outing Jediish thread, I guess I am just very "...what?" about the entire thread now. :ohno

Its my understanding its still a random thread :) For everyone else....

dun dun dunnnnnn

I don't really know, I'm not involved, but as far as I can tell the other narrative lines (Sol/Cirr, Barty/Cleo, etc) are still to go on as they were.

I'm enjoying the sideline story. It was a twist I hadn't expected. It's like watching any ensemble t.v series. You've got side stories going off everywhere and sometimes the show lingers in spots, or on a particular group, but eventually carries on.

The description of the orbalisk by the way was effin' disgusting. Made me cringe. Good job :lol

Can... can I play too? I mean, it's okay if you guys say no' cause I am kinda butting in. I'm getting tired of never ever leaving the ship and only being obliquely referenced. Y'know what happens then, right? DEATH. Soon after the oblique references, people will just stop talking about me; I'll never take part in any of the activities. I'll just disappear! Nuh uh, no way. So... can I play?

By all means, continue with everything else! I had planned to do this from the beginning of the thread (if it's not clear, I also play Solomon and Idesca). I wanted Akasha to skive off in the middle of an otherwise innocuous mission and have something horrible happen to her.

As for unwanted interruptions - well, that's why I hurried through that scene last night, where the pacing and tension was so critical. :) Go ahead an interrupt away, I really don't mind!

The fallout is going to involve Anbira, who will come to the rescue, and Solomon, who has the medical equipment aboard the Exodus. Anyone else who wants to get involved is free to do so. Otherwise, the Wheel still needs supplies, and even if the Exodus has to make a medevac, there's plenty of room on the Knightfall for any of Sol's passengers who get left behind. I'm sure a call about Akasha will go out so everyone is warned to take care.

Sorry to cause confusion; this was in part an experiment to see if I could drop a huge character event in the middle of an open thread. And, in my defense, the thread has been around for a month now.

However, I'm open to the idea of now splitting the Akasha/Idesca/Kala action into a separate thread, as we used to do in Yog's Bar and Grill when the plots diverged.

Yeah... For me this is sadly another case of a thread "getting away from me" - it's progressing, evolving etc and there doesn't really seem to be much need for Barton aside from driving a taxi load of people off Lethe if they won't all fit on someone else's ship.

Have fun guys and gals :) I was barely in the bread anyway so you won't miss me ;)

It's your call, but the whole idea of splitting up was to be able to pursue multiple storylines from the germ of a central idea. The fact that I've pushed Akasha's story on shouldn't prevent other people from developing their own stories.

Anyway, the thread remains open to all! I tried to make it very open-ended from the get-go, but I can't help noticing that the last post by anyone not directly interacting with me was on August 16th? So apparently it wasn't the Akasha storyline that stopped people from posting. :(

I just split off the entire Idesca storyline into a new thread. Still happening at the same point in the continuity. When Solomon gets called in to help with Akasha, I'll have him radio the other groups so they know what's going on, and then he'll run off to the other thread, too.
