Changes to 'The Hive'

As Cloud City is being absorbed by the Empire, both IC and OOC in that its forums will be moving, it only makes sense that we look at the rest of The Hive. As staff will know, each forum has an annual hosting fee so for those of you who are staff at either the Black Sun/Nebula or Nar Shaddaa, your input is particularly important here.

Neither forums have seen a great deal of activity, but you are of course entitled to keep them if you would like to do so. My suggestion would be that the BS/BN and Nar Shaddaa move from The Hive to share Dark Mosaic with the KA.

I personally do not mind and it makes sense. Since there will be an impending merger of sorts (I believe after talking with Mac) hopefully we some house cleaning as well, it will just be Black Sun again.

All Cloud City roleplays are now located in the 'Cloud City and Beyond' setion of the Galactic Empire forums. Port of Entry and the CC private forum remain untouched for the time being, until someone tells me where those threads should go. I'm guesing that Port of Entry at least could have its bios either pushed onto the Bounty Hunters Guild forums, or deleted outright, given that most of the information there is probably a duplicate of the wiki.

Putting The Hive stuff under the Dark Mosaic makes sense. Effectively, it'd be a collection of all independent / underworld stuff.

In that vein, would it make sense to -

a) combine the two Nar Shaddaa forums into a single one, in a similar vein to the "Cloud City and Beyond" one? There's perhaps not enough activity to justify both, but it might still be useful to have somewhere for the Bounty Hunters, mercs, and criminals to hang out, given the Imperial clampdown on CC.

b) create a single IC "Carshoulis Cluster" forum, in a similar vein? Charley is pretty active playing Taa at the moment, and there has been talk and planning of them supporting the Independents. Would it be worth giving them a forum to get all those kitty posts in once place, and make them easier for idgets like me to find and read?

A Cizerack Pride forum is possible, but I don't really know if it's practical for just us, since I think there's all of what, three people playing folks outside of House Meorrrei? I'd love to have more, but it would make more sense to have a Confederacy forum in general, since the felinoids are looking to be aligning with Tear's faction.

At this point, I'd be reluctant to create any new forums. What I think would be of most benefit, for now, is to concentrate on condensing and merging. We have an excess of forums that see very little action, and a perfectly good main RPing forum that can be used for the majority of stuff.

If new forums are necessarily, I would think that the need for them would be obvious because one particular 'faction' was taking over the main RPing forums. As it is, that isn't happening. If Tear wants to make an Independents board, that's his call, of course, but he would have to approach that in the same way that any new faction would have to.

I think we'd need to talk to Mara before we delete or move any of the Bounty Hunter forum. Its her baby. I don't mind it though - there's nothing therre we can't do in other forums.

I'm sort of partial to having a Lion's Den forum for Sass, but people never go visit her office anymore, so there's no real need other than tradition. :(

Cat's Paw should either be set on Coruscant (where sass main offices is I believe) or Tatooine (where BN main operations where). If we choose Tatooine we could also go with Jabba's Palace if people object to O.W. taking that as his new home (He already lives there IC being one of BN's hubs).

I think Jenny's point re: Coruscant is "Why won't the Black Sun threads happen in there?"

Rather than making it specifically a forum for roleplays in Sass's personal lair on Coruscant, what if we adapted it to encompass all of the casinos / Black Sun operations that didn't have somewhere specific? Cloud City, Tatooine, and Nar Shaddaa stuff could transpire in their respective forums, but the Lions Den could be used for everywhere else?

Means we can make it feel like we're RPing a galaxy-spanning organization, and we'd be able to keep those threads in one place rather than loosing them all in the general forums.

Except that traditionally Sasseeri's Lion's Den is her office and main building which is on Coruscant. I mean, I guess if no one wants that forum around we can get rid of it, but I wouldn't want a forum called The Lion's Den to be a forum for roleplays in all the casinos and other various black sun holdings.

I hope that makes sense.

If you want that kind of a forum it would just need a different name.

I guess what we need to think about is realistically what kind of RPing we are expecting the Black Sun forums to be used for. How often will we have roleplays that are just people visiting Sassy's office, unless you want to make her office into the official Black Sun 'recruitment forum'?

In Theory there are many RPs waiting in the wings of my imagination that would take place there, but Realistically? Not many. That's why I said it was my preference to keep it but I'd understand if ya'll want it gone to keep things streamlined.

Nar Shaddaa seems like it would be a good place for up and coming criminals to start out, or at least get their foot on the ladder. Plus, it's a dramatic contrast to Tatooine. I know that the BHG has their orbital facility above Nar Shaddaa too, but that could provide some interesting overlap in the two factions roleplaying together.

If we're effectively merging The Hive / Black Sun / the Bounty Hunters' Guild into a single forum of almighty awesome, then Tatooine and Nar Shaddaa certainly seem appropriate as our wretched hives. Like Jenny points out too, it's a good jumping-on point for new criminals.

In terms of "sexy parties" -

I don't mean to undermine the status quo and tradition, but Coruscant - particularly for marked men like Sanis Prent, or other "known criminals" - would be quite difficult to get to, because of all the security surrounding the Capital. As a location for the headquarters of Black Sun then, it might be difficult to guarentee that people can actually attend meetings and so forth.

Would it be worth Sassy having a "second home" on a less strongly Imperial planet - Tatooine? Nar Shaddaa? - where the Vigo/etc meetings can take place: somewhere more accessible to everyone? Sorta like the "Lion's Holiday Den"; some swanky time-share in Mos Eisley or something? :mischief

Really the office thing is a holdover from before the reset, when we often had personal forums where people could get a hold of us and Sasseeri was not the only character to have one. I'm fine with not having one now. :mneh

I have spoken to Mara and she has given me the go-ahead to effectively dismantle the Nar Shaddaa forums.

This means that once the Black Sun layout has been finalised, 'The Hive' will be removed and the Black Sun will become part of 'Dark Mosaic'.

If we're merging in all of the Nar Shaddaa stuff effectively, would it be worth using something like "Scum & Villainy" or "The Underworld" as the section title, rather than making it an exclusive "Black Sun" thing?

I know the Bounty Hunters and pirates and other scummy criminal types aren't particularly active at the moment, but it might be worth a slightly less specific title, just so they don't feel they can't come hang out IC on those boards?
