Little while to go before the season kicks off... but lately with the draft and free agency, there has been a fair bit going on. How's everyone liking all the trades?

We had a good time watching the draft - 8 players were drafted from our current WHL team, which ties a team record. The 4th and 5th picks were from our team! And then we had three more current Portland Winterhawks invited to pro-team camps this summer, so more awesomeness.

And the Avalanche drafted two of them, which is :cool:thumbup

Puck Daddy has a decent round-up of the free agency period (so far): http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Best-worst-and-surprising-for-2010-Free-Agent-F?urn=nhl,253007

Also, something mostly exciting for UK people - Boston Bruins are coming to Belfast in October, to play against the Belfast Giants (who will, undoubtedly, get absolutely thrashed) Tickets are £40 and go on sale this Monday 5th July at 10am http://www.britishicehockey.co.uk/news/bruins-tickets-on-sale-monday-10am-3373.html

Leafs didn't really do anything with free agents. Colby Armstrong is a good signing for sure. Most of the changes going forward are going to come from trade for sure. So I reserve judgment on the status of the Leafs this year until later in the summer or into training camp even...

On the other hand... Any Calgary Flames fans out there? Boy are the brass out there seriously messing up your team.

I'm sad to see Boogaard leave the Wild, seeing him fight at the Xcel was always a treat (if you look real close below, you'll see me enjoying watching him beat the crap out of Em's team :p)

However, I'm happy that he's a Ranger now!

Hey, Xi, what do you think about your team's new jerseys?

lol. you mean our new/old jerseys?

Like them. I always preferred the older jerseys over the new ones. I would have been happy if they had just added the stripe along the bottom part again, but like the patch coming back too. wish they would go totally with the ties at the neck like they have on the "retro" 3rd jersey, but maybe next year when they try and make us all buy new jerseys again. :p

Yeah, I like the old school look of jerseys with strings in the neck.

Not sure if you guys have seen this already, but Third String Goalie (http://thirdstringgoalie.blogspot.com/) is cool site for looking at jerseys old and new. Each day they feature a different jersey. Some cool, some awful.

Pre-season starting soon. Finally. I can't wait for some hockeys.

You know those Kings jerseys were brutal... but I think maybe the old Canucks or possibly those "lovely" Isles jerseys with the fisherman were some of the worst jerseys ever.

And yes... couple weeks for training camps and then games soon after that :D

Wow, some of those are really awful. That kings one was indeed crap. Did you see the Ducks one with the "wild wing"? That one was awful as well (sorry, Em, but it is ugly).

Yes, preseason is almost here. Best time of the year is when there's baseball, football and hockey all in the same month!

Don't apologize to me! The damn thing is HIDEOUS.
...I'm terrified of what the 3rd jerseys are going to look like when they come out this season. :ohno If I am to suffer a "retro" teal and "eggplant" viewing I just may have to kill someone.

I should be buying my tickets to the first game of the season here soonish. Sadly can't do the full season of amazing awesomeness again... but at least this year I actually have cable so I can watch the games I can't go to (which will be a lot).

Damn no-job money issues!

I honestly don't know that I ever knew about the wild wing jerseys. Those are pretty nasty...

There's something to be thankful for timeless classics like the Leafs. Biggest change they've made is the type of leaf or a stripe moved/removed/changed.

Em I think you might be safe, given that I'm not sure how much the current Ducks ownership wants to tie back to being the "Mighty Ducks".

I know it's worth it. I just have absolutely no income at the moment: not even jobseekers, because apparently my earnings (of zero) are too high. :(

As of yesterday, the season is under way - and TSN is already predicting the Red Wings to win the Stanley Cup!

Enh, I don't know about the Wings. at some point their collective age has to catch up to them.
