Are there any Rebel pilot types - Rogues or otherwise - who are around at the moment, in a position to post regularly(ish), and looking for something to do?
Jenny and I have been scheming and what not... it'd be helpful to know who is about. :angel

Alrighty - that looks like we've got about half a dozen Rogue pilots to play with. Groovy. :cool
Long story short... while Rogue Squadron has been protecting the Wheel, we haven't been out in the galaxy doing awesome stuff. That's bound to make Imperial Intelligence a little suspicious, and the last thing we want is them looking for us, because that makes us a target painted on the side of the Wheel.
The plan is to do a few snappy little missions, where some of the Rogues & friends fly off to go kick some ass, get noticed, and draw attention away from the Wheel; the rest of the Rogues will stay behind to protect the convoy.
Jenny has a thread on the go that she thought we might be able to provide air support for - wanna give us the lowdown, Jenmeister? :smokin

Are we still doing the Rogue part on a separate thread, or are you wanting to lump it in with the main mission? 'cause if we're waiting until later in the thread to show up, we might as well find something else to blow up in the mean time. :mischief

Appologies for the delay - I was ambushed by robot ninjas, and was briefly held captive until I could MacGuyver together a crude EMP device from my phone, three paper clips, and a length of nylon string.
Here's the thread (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20878). I can give details on "the plan", and the disposition of the Imperial forces in the system if people ask for them; anything else, I'll have to make up on the spot. :uhoh
Hopefully we'll get through this briefing relatively quick, so we can get on with the actual ass-whooping. :smokin

Okay, just adding up the numbers, and we've got seven Rogues, four Valkyries, and the Layla with us on this shindig.
With Oisin Ocasta flying as Rogue Twelve on this, that gives us Three Flight as per normal, a flight of Valkyries as per normal... and then three X-Wings left over: Rogue Five, Rogue Seven, and then Jaden, who is nominally Rogue One.
Razor, Archer - which would you prefer: flying together as a wing-pair for this one, or as a threesome with Jaden? :mischief

I've spoken to Holly - we're gonna save facing off against the Hellfires until we've managed to get a finished mission under our belts. :uhoh
Does anyone else have any questions regarding the mission, or shall I move stuff along? Does anyone want to do anything "before we leave", or are we good jumping ahead to the "dropping out of hyperspace" bit? Anyone want a "private word" with the Captain? Carré - do you want a few minutes to get acquainted with your new wingman, etc?
If no one says otherwise, I'll have us proceed with the mission some time on Tuesday, probably.

Right! We're good to go.
The A-Wings are gonna swoop in and bust up the TIE formations, scatter them all over the place, and then our Rogues can go nutty and vape 'em. There's no other plan, scheme, or organisation... so just get together with your wingman, and go crazy. :)

Post #12 posted by Rogue 12? Huzzah. The irony. :lol
Yes, folks, something is up. But thus far, we have no idea what. On the upside, it means that there are only a dozen squints for us to contend with right now, and about a dozen fighters going up against 'em. That gives us one each / two TIEs per wingpair, to do with as you please: I'll leave it to you guys to wrestle out between you who gets to blow up what. ;)
That includes one for the Layla as well, if someone over there wants to get trigger happy... :mischief

We're fast approaching the end of this thread; and I think we can be proud of ourselves for the job we've done so far. Nice work, guys and gals! :D
We could, hypothetically, end the thread (or the mission part, at least) in three posts time: one to reveal what happens to Razor (:ohno); one to reveal what happens to Tannis (he's stationary, and has no warning of those incoming missiles: so even unguided he may not notice them until it's too late :ohno); and then one last one to blitz through the attack on the Interdictor, setting us up to end on a cliffhanger.
That obviously doesn't tie off everything, but we can always explain what happened next in an Epilogue post at the end, or in a follow-on intermission thread, etc... that may just be the opportune dramatic point to draw things to a close.
Does that sound reasonable to people, or would anyone in particular like to throw in extra posts on top of those three - Charley; do you want one more to close off what the Layla does? - or are we happy to go with that? I'm just eager to work out these last few steps, so we can end the thread on a definate bang, rather than dribbling away towards an end where we just run out of anything else to do. :uhoh
The next step is of course to introduce the Challenger and the Thunderbolts: but that warrants a new discussion thread unto itself, I think, so we'll worry about that later. :)

I'm not stationary, by the way. I was pursuing Layla at high speed and flipped my fighter around during the light burst without altering my trajectory. That does mean I need to turn again before thrusting, or I'll just be killing my own momentum until I accelerate past zero velocity.
Of course, that also means that Spoon blasting away at my front, not my rear. And that my response time against the torpedoes is actually going to be worse than if I were still facing away, though I may be able to take them at an angle rather than head-on, which is probably my only chance of not losing my ship outright.

Motion in space is relative, what with orbits, galactic rotation, spatial expansion, and what-not. You are moving with constant, unchanging velocity, as per Newton's first law of motion. That's close enough. :colbert

Anyhow - in the intrests of zomg-y awesomeness and drama: I think one more post from Tannis (insert clip of Darth Vader's TIE tumbling off into space), and then one from me to leave us at a spectacular cliffhanger? We can then re-tell the remainder of the mission as part of the introduction for a follow-up / aftermath thread?
Or would people prefer to keep posting the mission a little longer? :huh
