Roland Emmerich is planning on making a Foundation (by Isaac Asimov) movie using Avatar's technology. 3D and motion capture CGI.
While I can understand using 3D, I can't wrap my head around why Foundation would need to be mo-cap. And I also can't imagine what Foundation will be like after the director of Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012 gets a hold of it.
But then, maybe it'll be his Lord of the Rings. :ohno

He did the Patriot and the 13th Floor as well so this might be good.

The Patriot was crap so I would say highly unlikely to be even watchable.

The Patriot was well acted, had good scenery, and good costumes, however they played very lose with the facts and would never call it a great movie. Not sure about this Emmerich is not a great directory. He is good making escapist movies although haven't made a great one since ID4.

Ever since Spielberg fucked up War of the Worlds so badly I have decided to consider ID4 a great movie. Plus Emmerich has got good instincts for casting.
I think the Patriot was a great movie because he got the mood and the message right. If you start a war on your own soil it will be fought in your backyard and it will potentially cost you your family.
You are right on the factual errors like hanging puppets of King George at the beginning of the revolution and not mentioning that the war was nearly over during the time frame most of the movie is set or the fact that English soldiers did not commit crimes against humanity like they are depictured in this movie (burning down churches).

The church burning was really a bit much. I know the writer took that from an incident that happened in France during WW 2. I do admit Tarleton (who Issacs's characters is based on) was a nice guy and was probably a bastard of a man. However, they make up out to be true evil. Have to say that Issacs did a great job portraying that character.
