I need to figure out a way to get HBO before this starts!!! Or I'll have to stay away from spoilers and just rent the season when it comes out. :(
Can't wait to see what happens!

That is awesome. Although I disagree with the idea that Bill is the worst maker ever...yeah, Jessica IS a vamper tramp, but I love her. Even though she's doing very, very bad things. :evil
I've read almost all of the books in the series now, and I'm really loving how they've taken the books as a basis and spun new stories and ideas off from them. One of the best changes has been keeping Lafayette alive, since he was killed off at the beginning of the second book. And then really beefing up Godric's role in the series...his final scene in the series made me cry, especially based on Eric's reaction :cry. I'm so happy to know he'll be back in at least one episode featuring Eric flashbacks this coming season.
Have you seen any of the minisodes? They've been airing after the last few season 2 reruns on HBO, but they're also available on HBO.com. The most recent one with Sam was great. :lol

"He speaks in all caps" rofl...
True Blood's been a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine - especially since they put the first two seasons back up on On-Demand so I could watch them on the actual TV instead of trying to find somewhere to stream them online.
Bill and Sookie are just... blahhhhh, though. Sookie improved a bit in season 2, but Bill? Meh.
The other characters of this show really pull it along though and in general their antics, problems, one-liners hold down the main reason I watch this show. VERY glad they decided to keep Lafayette alive as he's probably my favorite character in the entire show. Never read the books, but this alone makes me not want to read them. lol
Gotta agree on Godric too. His "I am older than your Jesus. I wish I could have met him." line had me amused for a good long while. His final scene was beautifully written, I think.
As for the trailer - Hmm... werewolves, huh? Guess it was only a matter of time before they appeared. Jason's... "Santa? o_o" ...rofl. :lol
Looking forward to this starting up again. At least this will keep me entertained until Dexter's next season rolls around.

Oh yes, werewolves end up featuring heavily in the series...watch out for Alcide Herveaux. Yum yum :D. And it doesn't just stop with werewolves, trust me O_o.
The books are light, fun, easy reads. I consider them a good supplement to the series, which is kinda funny to say since the books came first.
I'm just waiting to see if the legendary scene from the fourth book involving Sookie, Eric, and a shower makes it into the show. *swoon*

Bill is referred to as "the worst maker...EVER!" by Jessica.
I think I'll be waiting to netflix this season. :( Makes me sad.

I enjoyed last night's episode.
Operation Werewolf, eh? :)
Loved it when Sookie walked in on Eric being 'busy'. "See something you like!?"

Ah, yes, I loved the fact that it didn't take long to see Eric's naked ass :love. Heavenly!
And how about Sam and Bill? Yeah, it was a dream, but it was pretty hot! :lol
I'm really glad that they're using real wolves for the werewolves. Looked really good. I think CGI would've looked too silly.

CGI werewolves are tough to do. I remember the complaints with Prisoner Azkaban. I agree it is better to use wolves. I really enjoyed the episode, great start to the season.

Loved it! I was a bit O_O at the Bill/Sam bit, but I guess I should have remembered from last season when Eric's blood made Sookie dream about him.
And the guy they cast as Alcide is... is... *swoon* :love

Not sure at this point, although it looks like he's going to be at least one of the villains. Franklin Mott was an extremely peripheral character in a couple of the books, so what they're doing on the show is much different. And I like it, he's pretty darn evil for sure :evil. I just have to adjust to seeing James Frain in this role after seeing him through 3 seasons of The Tudors as Thomas Cromwell. Franklin Mott is a huge change from Cromwell. :lol

Oh God, Franklin Mott is one twisted, hilarious mofo. :lol
And those Post-Mortem shorts are equally hilarious! :lol
I'm curious to get the story behind the whole Tommy/Joe Lee relationship. A co-worker of mine is convinced that Joe Lee is molesting Tommy, and I'm starting to wonder if that's what's happening.

I love Franklin Mott. :love
In regards to Joe Lee and Tommy my speculation is that he is using Tommy in dogfights. "I own you from nose to tail!" + all those scars Tommy has.
Missed the Post-Mortem today, the DVR didn't record long enough to catch it. :(

I hadn't thought of that, and I think you're right. I think it's a much more likely explanation than molestation.

The best part was Tara's face when she realized that Franklin didn't turn into a pile of goo, so... At least, I imagined that was what she was thinking.
Every episode has really been spot on this season, I think. They always leave me wanting moooooore!! :shakefist

Did anybody else feel like they needed a shower, a cigarette, and a stiff drink after this week's episode? Holy cow! :lol
RIP, Talbot. It really was the best way for Eric to start getting revenge on Russell, but I'm gonna miss the guy. His complaining about it being impossible to get Franklin's brains out of the guest linen was priceless.
Best exchange last night:
"Jessica, it's over." "No way!" "Way."
That was definitely LOL funny. :lol :lol :lol
I hope the TV academy remembers Denis O'Hare's performance as Russell at Emmy time next year. He has been awesome.

This season has been great all around. I am glad to see that Sam's story is starting to overlap with Jason's, what with the sniffing and the Hotshot inbreds (I'm just guessing lol) knowing immediately that he was a shifter. Certainly points to these meth cooks being more than they appear.
Book spoiler: This is because they're most likely werepanthers or something like that, like Crystal is in the books.
Can't wait for next week, AGAIN. ^_^;

I love this show. The build up to the last minutes of the show was worth the slow pacing in the beginning :)

Aug 9th, 2010, 07:42:37 PM
They simply MUST follow Jason's storyline from the books, where he is turned into a werepanther. If they don't do it, then I'll be really bummed out. It does seem like they're moving in that direction, though.
They've done such a beautiful job in adapting the books so those of us who've read them are still left with tons of suspense and surprises. I really applaud the job they've done with it. :clap

WARNING! If you're avoiding spoilers for the third season of True Blood, do NOT look at this post. Close your eyes and scroll past as quickly as you can. Because I am about to post two pictures from the final scene of tonight's episode that I helped myself to when I saw them posted by someone at the True Blood Facebook page. One is very benign, the other is anything but benign.
SERIOUSLY. DO NOT LOOK AT THIS POST IF YOU DON'T WANT ANY SPOILAGE.

I thought tonight's episode was little on the average side. It was almost like the lull before the major shitstorm that was unleashed in the final moments. It's interesting to see that in Eric's quest for personal vengeance, he may have just doomed all vampires. Russell was already a monster, but now he's an insane monster.
Again, I have to say that if Denis O'Hare isn't nominated for an Emmy, it will be a crime. The final scene of tonight's episode, and particularly the final line, were among the best things that have been on this show so far.
Okiedokie, here come the pictures. If you've ignored the spoiler warnings, you have only yourself to blame.

My one disappointment is that they killed off Franklin a little abruptly.
Since last night's episode ran long, the Post Mortem video was relegated to online only. It's really short, but pretty hilarious. :lol

OMG my mouth fell open at the end of this episode. It was... amazing!
I thought initially that Russell was going to kill Nan in the limo while the news was going on, but what happened was SO much better. And the look on her face was like.... OH SHIT.
This didn't happen and the Authority disavows any knowledge of this? Yeah, well, they're going to have to do something about Russell now, don't you think?
I think that Franklin 's death was great. Yay for Jason!
I can't wait for the Hotshot storyline to explode.

As for Nan yes, I was expecting the same too. And naughty Nan. true blood indeed XD

I totally agree that Franklin's story had come to a logical end, so it wasn't surprising they killed him. It just happened so fast in some ways, that's the only thing that I have a complaint about. And it's a minor complaint, outside of the fact that I'm gonna miss that crazy SOB. :evil I also figure it could very well rekindle Tara's crush on Jason.

About the Rolling Stone issue, my local supermarket said they may not carry the issue because it's "too risque." But my sister said she heard it may be packaged in a brown wrapper, so we'll see.
On a lighter note, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer got married on Saturday. :)
As for the episode, for those of you who haven't read the books, you certainly got lots of the answers you were probably craving last night. :)
The scene with Russell and the male prostitute was super-creepy.

I really enjoyed 99% of last night's season finale. Krispy Kritter Russell just about stole the show for me. And the best single scene was the one where Eric finally blew Bill's cover and revealed that it was no accident and no coincidence that Bill walked into Merlotte's that night in the first episode.
What I didn't like all that much was the final scene. It was a really, really weak cliffhanger, IMO. No sense of OMG WTF?!?!? like I felt at the end of the first 2 seasons. :grumble
Oh well. And here we are, with season 4 not arriving until June. It's going to be a long 9 months. :cry

Finally caught up to season finale!
I wonder if Russel ever gets out of that concrete pit somehow, and what kind of hell breaks loose if he does. What a creepy monster. It's also interesting how Godric advocates mercy towards him, maybe Russel had a greater role that we don't know about yet. It seemed to me like he was completely beyond redemption though.
I think Bill really overdoes the protection thing, instead of simply taking Sookie to some place where they can't be found and starting a new life from scratch. Instead, they are constantly found by supernatural beings who try to kill them or kidnap them. And when they finally escape, Bill takes on more than he can chew by trying to kill anyone who knows about Sookie. Eric and the Queen were just the latest examples.
And it looks like sookie was beamed into Fairy Land to learn more about fairies and their powers..
Overall though, it was another great season, and looking forward to the next one. :)
Oh well. And here we are, with season 4 not arriving until June. It's going to be a long 9 months. :cry
Not only that, but it seems that each season is only 12 episodes long.

I will be severely put out if the Queen dies in some form. She has a lot of potential to make a great antagonist next season. I sincerely doubt Bill can take her out, but who knows who else might show up to help. If there was more to the fight then Bill lunging, it would have been a better cliffhanger

Sep 14th, 2010, 12:03:23 PM
Finally got to see the episode - I really enjoyed it. Eric dipped in concrete telling Sookie about Bill's not-good-intentions was awesome.
It seemed like this season peaked a few episodes ago and they spent the finale setting us up for next season. Jason is king idiot of Hotshot, no doubt heading into his Big Change that book readers know is coming, Tara cuts her hair dramatically (it IS cute) and then leaves town? She'll be back. Tommy and Sam - there's no way Sam shot him, Tommy is back next season and hopefully they work out their issues because Sam being an asshole to poor illiterate TOmmy breaks my heart. Lafayette and Jesus are setting up the big antagonist/plot points for next season - witches. Same with Holly the new waitress and probably Arlene's serial killer demon baby.
I love Terry. He's the best character. Such a good guy! I just want to hug him.
Sookie is in Fae-land. Duh. Or she died. Nah, she's in Fae. Gran is still dead. just making sure you're paying attention! And Hoyt and Jessica are probably going to be attacked by creepy doll collector Summer and Hoyt's crazy momma in the first few episodes.
I know that next season Alcide is going to be a regular, so I hope that he and Sookie get together. I need more Brawny Man werewofl.
Still liked this season a lot. And I know that Russell next season will be back, just not sure how.

I have trouble whipping up any sympathy for Tommy because he's been such annoying brat, although I do have to admit that I had a moment of feeling a little sorry for him when he finally admitted that he can't read. I don't believe that Sam shot him, I don't know if Sam might have intentionally missed or if Tommy might have shifted in time or what might have happened. What I do know is that I want the old Sam back. I don't like this newfangled Sam. :cry
