21 Days to a Novel

If anyone is interested in doing this/sharing this with me and or others, let me know. Its a 21 day writing exercise by Michael Stackpole that should leave you with enough information in hand and written down to get you on your way to completing a novel.

I've compiled the steps (well, most of them, I need to get the last few written down) onto a web space, and I'm hand writing and then transcribing my efforts there too. I think it would be inspirational if others joined me. So, if you're interested, PM me with your email and I'll send you a link to the site.

I just got through day 7, personally, and I'll be tackling day 8 tomorrow.

I've wanted to be an author since I was 6, so its time I did something about it. ^_^; I'm not sure where RPing fits into that dream. Well, I do, but it doesn't bode well for my participation here. No worries, I'm not going anywhere yet.

I'm not sure now is the right time for me to try this, since I have a new job to settle into and a variety of other things to worry about... but I will just say that I think Stackpole's advice is great. It definitely gets you thinking and, I found, opens up story avenues you might not have thought of otherwise.

Day 10 under my belt! So technically only 10 more days before the 21st day where I start writing it!

I dont' want to be that person who says "I'll write a book someday." I'm going to write one, dammit.

I may check this out but either way I am starting a brand new writing project tomorrow. Nothing I've started before, it's from scratch and there'll be a lot of subcreation involved. Once I've got some locations and rules established I'll start with short stories - I know a few science fiction magazines I can try to get them published in. And I'll soon start working on a larger, quite epic story. But I'm more interested in the world-building first. I'll quite happily do that for a few months before putting pen to paper - unless I get an idea that I simply have to run with.
