View Full Version : 'The Hive'

We currently have three 'factions' under the group heading of The Hive

I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts on those factions were. The forums have been pretty quiet, on the whole, for a while now. Do they all need the forums they have now? Could we do with something different there?

On the whole, what would make those kind of forums more useful and appealing as places to RP? :huh

Come to think of it, the Nar Shaddaa ones could all be distilled down to two - the Market one, and the actual Camp one which the Bountyhunters Guild should be using instead of the pirates.

If you want any tweaking done to those forums, just let me know and I'll do some reshuffling :)

Black Sun is very quiet lately... what could we do to change that?

I has no idea. My inspiration went poof after Sorsha did.

Of course, I do have Kalail around as one of the leaders of Black Nebula.

So, let's look at the EU for inspiration:

"It is a vast criminal syndicate…its influence felt on every planet from the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim. Black Sun has existed for hundreds of years, and embedded itself in the very fiber of the galaxy. The resources at its disposal are almost limitless. The soldiers under its command number in the tens of thousands. The ignorant even call it the most powerful force in the known universe."

Black Sun held a massive amount of reach and influence, extending its tendrils of corruption deep in the various galactic governments of each era. It was infamous for its involvement in piracy and smuggling. But smuggling was just the tip of the iceberg of the galaxy-wide organization.[1] It was involved in every know type of illegal activity; its information networks rivaled the accuracy and scope of Imperial Intelligence.[2] The resources available to Black Sun rivaled those belonging to a large planetary army, including footsoldiers.[3]

Below the leader of Black Sun were nine Vigos (Old Tionese for "nephew"). Each Vigo ruled over his or her own territory and sector.

But in fans history, Sass and Sorsha split Black Sun into two groups, Sun and Nebula with their respective leaders. Perhaps a merge back? Sorsha is out of the picture, I suppose >_>

Kalail is Sorsha's cousin but a business woman as well. Not sure how much it would make sense

Dasquian Belargic
Feb 16th, 2010, 04:14:41 PM
Well, regardless of the fact that the faction split... both parts were still essentially supposed to be wide-spanning crime syndicates, with fingers in every space pie available.

Perhaps a reunification would help? There is no reason why individual Vigo's couldn't vie for power, within a single organisation. Speaking of, we could have more Vigo's, if anyone wants to step forward and play one ;) There is a power vacuum kind of left behind in Sorsha's absence, after all.

We could also introduce more smuggling and piracy related elements to the group(s)?

Miranda Tarkin
Feb 16th, 2010, 04:17:00 PM
Well Sorsha became a Hand and left power over to Kalail and OW so there is no power vacuum in that regards :P However, perhaps some piracy integrating into Sun/Nebula wouldn't be a bad idea at the very least. Combine the factions into one organization. It wouldn't be a happy family anyway. They are criminals after all. :lol

Unless Sun/Nebula go back to one group with shared leadership or something

Hmmm... you know... what you people need is someone to cause trouble for you *nod*

...this has nothing to do with my plans to get my little group of well meaning nogooders to hit one of the Black Sun's casinos... nope. None. :angel *whistles innocently*

*shrug* Maybe I'll see how I can irk the Nebula as well? Give some reason for a remerge of the two groups against a common "who the HELL are these people?!" threat? rofl

Tossing out ideas... don't want to step on any toes since Em et such are kinda new on the whole crime scene.

Dasquian Belargic
Feb 16th, 2010, 04:22:25 PM
So, what if Sun and Nebula reformed and had a series of Vigos, like is mentioned in quote above? Like that Crime Council ruled over by Oren Ishii in Kill Bill? :mneh

Each one has territory, and probably their own agenda, but they also share resources.

Currently Black Sun is led by Sasseeri (like Xizor of old) with Vigos underneath her. Kal Olorin is one, Grim Kandle is another. Of course I play one of them and Grim is MIA at the moment.

I don't have a problem with more people joining in. People have expressed interest in the past but unfortunately nothing came of it.

I don't really know what I think about Black Nebula becoming part of it again. :uhoh Sasseeri wouldn't have anything to do with it, so from an IC point of view its very problematic.

Miranda Tarkin
Feb 16th, 2010, 04:53:30 PM
Even with Sorsha out of the picture? That was the biggest contention to begin with. She is gone so something bringing them together, as Em pointed out, could work :|

Dasquian Belargic
Feb 16th, 2010, 05:00:15 PM
Right... Sorsha is gonna, so Sassy could be the Xizor to the whole faction theoretically.

Miranda Tarkin
Feb 16th, 2010, 05:01:11 PM
Well, Kalail might have a problem with that :p

Dasquian Belargic
Feb 16th, 2010, 05:01:53 PM
Well, you guys could turn that into something that would be interesting/fun to play out IC!

I wouldn't mind bringing in a Vigo (Michael Corleone comes to mind quite clearly to me). I seem to have no end of ideas or inspiration yet either; I've been working that muscle far more than my more physical ones, to my detriment I suppose. :/

Well in the Mafia when one family goes to war against another. They usually end up absorbing whats left of the defeated family. Good/life long Criminals tend to be a rarity. Especially ones who have connections and know what their doing.

Perhaps Sasseeri, with the backing Tear, begin hitting Nebula held territories until they call a truce and the two powers reluctantly shake hands and merge back together. Since Sorsha was the main cause of the instigation without her Sasseeri might allow most/all of the former Nebula members to rejoin the Black Sun.

There could have plenty of cloak and dagger type play trying to remove Sasseeri from power or cause trouble from within the organization itself, like Dasq pointed out.

Miranda might be a little put out if Tear is involved :p

I wouldn't mind bringing Lorn Kadross back into the criminal fold since that whole Hutt thing was a bust. Don't know exactly which side of the line his assets would be on with the Black Sun split however. There's also the other Black Sun punks, L'Vek and Hijin, I got kickin' around on Coruscant that I'd like to drop into a fight.

I think a name change would make it more appealing.

Yes, its the Hive... of scum and villainy, but I keep thinking bees or the more Star Wars aligned Killiks from the Dark Nest series when I glance over it.

I feel a name like The Underworld would be more fitting as a heading for the independents, bounty hunters, and criminal enterprises who call that part of the boards home. The Underworld also implies a looser affiliation between organizations compared to The Hive.

I've sort of been keen on the idea that Okar the Fabulous is a vigo actually

We can discuss it here and there :)

If you want to be a Black Sun Vigo ya need to, you know, talk to Black Sun.

Which is currently me. So, Okar can be a Vigo. But I expect you to post in our shiny forums then. :shakefist

Okay, so discussion of the future of the Black Sun/Nebula has moved to here: http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20517

That leaves us with Cloud City and Nar Shaddaa.

While I don't have a suggestion, I'd prefer something else...its reminds me of The Underworld faction over on TGC, and I'd prefer to avoid that comparison.

Nar Shaddaa is probably going to see some action soonish as it'll feature the IC capture of the Pirate captain and some of his men/creatures.

Anyway, the Orbital Space Junk forum description needs to be changed: This former pirate lair orbiting around the planet of Nar Shaddaa is now the headquarters of the Bounty Hunter's Guild. Its location is a Guild secret, and its junky exterior look does not invite casual visitors. Non-Guild members beware - admission only by invitation!

Black Market Plaza should become Dead End Plaza. The description being: Need something? A slave girl? Some exotic food products? Illicit weaponry? Bad food? Someone dead? - Dead End Plaza might be a dead end, but it's home to the Office of the Overseer of the Black Market District, Wampo Groba, and Progga's Hut - Bar and Eatery as well as the official address of the Bounty Hunter's Guild at No. 111/8B

The Locker forum can be deleted.

Do we still need Cloud City?

I can appreciate why the individual factions need their own little boards, and all that jazz. But there isn't really a "Cloud City" faction at the moment, and if memory serves the only activity that's been out there recently has been with the Jedi that used to hide there. Since they're off at The Wheel now... *shrug*

Kvettch - I have made all changes except deleting the Locker. Would you like the threads in that forum moved into another forum?

RE: Cloud City - that is true. Does anyone have any suggestions for what could be done with Cloud City? I always liked the idea of it being a kind of Deep Space Nine type location, where characters from a whole host of backgrounds could meet... but perhaps it needs a little re-vamp?

Err... nah, just move them into some convenient archive forum.

Cloud City and its bar were supposed to (and did for a while) take the place of Yog's B&G. The Jedi, while they're all together now, still can't have something like that because no bad guys can find them and hang out. ;) The docks were to be a place for bounty hunters and smugglers to be hired, but I guess that isn't needed anymore. Maybe the smuggler part, but no one actually hires IC smugglers to do anything. :p

Just because it isn't being used now doesn't mean it won't be ever again. There are still active threads there and I think it serves a purpose. Perhaps people just needed to be reminded what that purpose was. :)

Alexander Tur'enne
Feb 17th, 2010, 03:22:40 PM
True... but as you just saying, haven't we more or less made "that purpose" redundant, by incorporating those roles elsewhere? :huh

Lilaena De'Ville
Feb 17th, 2010, 03:28:32 PM
Maybe!

Nat is the man mod of those forums, but they were my idea. If no one wants/you don't want them anymore then clear it with her and then get rid of them I guess.

We still don't have a replacement for Yog's then, but I suppose we don't need one.
