My folks have invited the last batch of relatives over for dinner tomorrow, so we'll be 8 people - and my dad took out three whole frozen salmon out of the fridge...

So I've been rifling through my recipes, and I've got two choices that I could cook that don't involve having to go shopping for a whole lot of ingredients. Trouble is now, however, that I can't make up my mind.

So what do you think I should cook?

The pics from the recipes look like this:

Salmon in Saffron Mussel sauce

And the Salmon with Red Wine Butter looks like that (only that I'll be using filets instead of steaks):

Option B. Is that skin-on? Can't tell.

Funny thing is, I can't make up my mind either between these two dishes.. :lol

I'm pretty sure it's skin on.

Edit: After some further thought, I am voting A because of the mussels.

Ahhh... so I couldn't get any mussels at the market... bought scallops instead. Should be fine.... I've got some frozen fish stock that had mussels in it, so I'm going to use that - IF I end up making the first recipe...

But now you commited to scallops by buying them. You gotta use them while they are fresh! :)

Not really - I could put them in a soup.... :p Or do something with them the day after if I stick them into the freezer until then.

I voted A...my only thing about both of these is I don't think potatoes go well with fish. They're heavy, fish is light (that and I just don't eat starches xD)...so I'm all about fresh veggies.

I love me some leek salad though! nomnom

I made my dad eat bulgur for two days..... so I gotta get back to potatoes or he'll start going through withdrawal :lol

Well, I voted for the latter before you mentioned you couldn't get mussels (they're not my favorite seafood).

But scallops are one of my favorites as is salmon, so now, either one of those dishes sounds amazing :)

What kind of scallops? Big diver scallops, or little soup scallops?

No idea - we only get one variety over here. Take a look at the finished thing over in the other thread, maybe you can tell me what they are.
