The Chargers looked amazing tonight. I have to say I think they are the best team in the AFC right now. I think they will beat the Colts, if they play them.

The Chargers looked so strong last night, I think they have a really good chance of making it to the Super Bowl this year.

I heard last week, I think, that it's been the Chargers who have knocked the Colts out of the playoffs the last couple of years, and I think that will probably happen again this year :).

TB @ NO is going into overtime, tied up at 17 apiece. Browns are slaughtering the Raiders, other than that, no real big suprises.

EDIT: And thanks to a Connor Barth FG, TB wins in OT, 20-17 over NO!

Whoa, hey, I went to see Sherlock Holmes and came home to find out there'd been some more wacky scores today. I'm actually a little surprised that the Panthers mauled the Giants so badly. But that's nothing compared to TB beating NO. TB????? :eek

The Saints are limping into the playoffs and the same could be said for the Vikings. Only the Eagles have been playing great lately. I think they will take that 2 seed from Minnesota and then meet the Chargers in the SB.

Dragon
Dec 27th, 2009, 06:10:04 PM
The Eagles aren't playing so great now. After leading 27-10, they've given up two touchdowns. They're looking very off-balance both on offense and defense, and they're committing a lot of stupid penalties.

Meanwhile, the Colts are demonstrating that they don't care about the rest of their season. They took Peyton Manning out after building a meager 15-10 lead, and the whole team has taken Jim Caldwell's cue and just given up. The Jets lead 29-15.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 27th, 2009, 06:35:14 PM
Not sure what happened to the Eagles. I must have cursed them when I made that prediction lol. They were looking great when I said that.

Figrin D'an
Dec 27th, 2009, 06:43:46 PM
The Colts loss isn't that concerning. They pulled starters out early. The Saints loss, however, is a red flag. New Orleans has not really played that well in December, and their starting defense giving up 20 straight points to the Bucs is a big problem, especially after they looked anemic on offense last week against Dallas.

At least with the Colts loss, we won't have a playoff run in which we have to listen to that asshat Mercury Morris raping about his overrated '72 Dolphins as a team tries to chase perfection.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 27th, 2009, 06:50:21 PM
The Eagles pull their game out to keep their chances at the 2 seed alive.

Jedi Master Carr

Vikings lose their third game in the row, giving homefield to the Saints. Now the Eagles can clinch the second seed with a win over Dallas.

Liam Jinn
Dec 28th, 2009, 11:11:26 PM
And Dallas can clinch the second seed with a win over Philly, and with Arizona and Vikings losing next week. Otherwise Cowboys just take the division with a win over Philly. I don't get your Eagles hype, I haven't seen anything great about them.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 28th, 2009, 11:15:25 PM
They have won 6 straight games that is impressive. I think they will win as they have the better team, especially their defense. I take Mcnabb over Romo too.

Also, the Vikings aren't losing to the Giants at home. The Giants looked horrible yesterday.

Liam Jinn
Dec 28th, 2009, 11:41:45 PM
Depends on when Favre gets benched. Giants will be looking to end on a good note, Vikings should just be trying to find a rhythm and a couple scores before phoning it in.

I'm still not getting the better team you're talking about. You can forget about the 6 straight wins. Saints had how many?

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 29th, 2009, 01:49:52 PM
The Saints are a bad example because they were playing great until they got banged up. They started playing bad because 4 starters on defense got hurt and haven't played for the last five weeks. They have also got very complacent on offense. A winning streak does show you are a good team, so under your logic you must think the Chargers aren't the best team right now? The Chargers and Eagles are the hottest two teams and that does mean something going into the playoffs. They have confidence and momentum that will help them in the playoffs. I believe the Eagles are better because of several reasons. They have a more dynamic offense with their young wideouts and now Westbrook is back have a very good running game. They also have a better defense than Dallas. The Eagles can beat them and take the two seed.

Dragon
Dec 29th, 2009, 05:28:48 PM
With the Vikings' loss last night, the Saints have clinched the #1 seed, but there are four teams (Eagles, Cowboys, Vikings, Cardinals) who could get the #2 seed next week. There's also still a big glut of AFC teams fighting for the wild card spots, several of whom are a bit hacked that the Colts didn't try to beat the Jets on Sunday...

It didn't matter here, of course, since everybody picked the Colts. Here's the tally going into the final week of the regular season:

Figrin D'an: 12-4
Xavier Synik: 12-4
Dragon: 11-5
Lykaios: 11-5
Miranda Tarkin: 10-6
Nathanial K'cansce: 10-6
Ryan Pode: 10-6
Yog: 10-6
Jedi Master Carr: 9-7
Rutabaga: 9-7
Liam Jinn: 8-8
Shadow Storm: 8-8
Aurelias Kazaar: 7-9
jjwr: 6-10 (did not pick)

It's starting to become a runaway...

1. Xavier Synik: 166-74 (154)

2. Nathanial K'cansce: 159-81 (149)
3. Dragon: 158-72 (147)
3. Liam Jinn: 158-82 (150)
3. Yog: 158-72 (148)
6. Jedi Master Carr: 157-83 (148)
6. Ryan Pode: 157-83 (147)
8. Rutabaga: 153-87 (144)
9. Figrin D'an: 152-89 (140)
10. jjwr: 148-92 (142)
10. Aurelias Kazaar: 148-92 (141)
12. Miranda Tarkin: 141-99 (131)
13. Lykaios: 140-100 (129)
14. Shadow Storm: 130-110 (122)

The Eagles problem, IMO, is that despite their winning streak, they have had trouble putting away teams late in games (bad teams, at that). Wins are wins, yes, but it's not like Philly has been dishing out dominant performances. Westbrook is also another hard hit from concussion #3 and being done for the duration of the season, at minimum.

Every team in the NFC has some warts. There is no dominant, clear cut front runner. However, if we are going to use the old adage of "peaking at the right time", then it would seem to me that Dallas, Philly and Green Bay all got hot at the right time of the year, while New Orleans and Minnesota peaked too early and are now struggle to keep things steady. Arizona is an enigma once again... they could make a run like they did last year, or they could go out in the first round with a whimper.

In the AFC, I think the Colts are going to regret their decision to pull starters out so far before their first playoff game. This might finally be the year for the Chargers to break through.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 29th, 2009, 06:08:32 PM
I agree there about the Eagles. They get up early in the first half and seem to let teams hang around. They get too conservative in the second half. They did that against the Cowboys last time and that is why they lost. Honestly, the NFC is very weak and I can't picture any of them beating the AFC. I really think this is the Chargers year.
