Will be back in a few minutes to post my picks, but just thought I'd add this...Chris Henry of the Bengals was seriously injured today in what sounds like a really stupid accident. He hadn't played since he broke his arm during a game last month, but now that's the least of his worries, unfortunately.

Terrible news about Chris Henry. News had been that he was getting his life back together after his string of run-ins with the law a couple seasons ago. He and his fiancee have three young children who are now without a father.

How 'bout dem indeed. I'm sorry I missed that game now. Well, not really, I'm just sorry I didn't Tivo it.

EDIT: Y'know, I was thinking about this when making my picks, but the one game that TB won earlier in the season, was when I missed getting my picks in. All the other times I picked for TB, I loss the picks. So I said, what the heck, watch TB win while I pick SEA to win for this week's game, considering how it's been turning out so far. And, well....on one hand I feel like saying, "WHAT THE HECK!?!", okay maybe that's a yell, but on the other hand, I feel like shaking my head and laughing.

Some wild finishes, SD wins on a last second FG and then Oakland beats Denver with a last second TD. With that win the Chargers win the division and the #2 seed. Pitt-GB are in a wild game right now back and forth, I think last team will win that one. Philly has dominated the Niners and clinched a playoff spot.

I forsee a glue factory opening up in Denver in the very short term...

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 20th, 2009, 06:30:56 PM
LOL yeah that is a bad loss. They play at Philly next weekend and will get slaughtered, so I am not sure if they will make the playoffs.

Edit
Now Steelers win on a last second TD. We have 6 teams with 7 wins.

Holy!!!!! :eek :eek :eek :eek :eek

What a way to break a five-game skid!

Incidentally, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman couldn't figure out why Mike Tomlin decided to try an onside kick after going ahead by two on a FG with just under four minutes left. The try failed, of course, when Ike Taylor touched the ball before it traveled ten yards, setting the Packers up on the Steelers 39, leading to a TD and 2PC to make it 36-30 with two minutes and change.

My brother made a very good point about that, however. The Steelers defense has had a chance to win each of the five previous games and failed to hold onto leads in the fourth quarter. They hadn't demonstrated anything that might suggest they could change that trend in this game. If you kick deep, the Packers are likely to grind out the clock on a long scoring drive, leaving you no time to come back. It's happened to the Steelers on multiple occasions this year.

So you kick on onside kick. Best case is you put your offense back on the field with a chance to kill the clock or even score. If they recover, you can hope your defense finally steps up and forces a long FG try; if they make it, then you still have plenty of time for a FG of your own. Worst-case, they rip off a few first downs and then get it in the endzone... which is exactly what happened.

So the Steelers got the ball back before the two-minute warning, which turned out to be just enough time to mount an epic winning drive (assisted by a panicky Packers secondary who played like they did against Baltimore). The commentators complained that it reflected a lack of faith in the defense - well, of course it did. Tomlin gave the defense a chance, and, failing that, gave his offense, the unit that was playing lights-out, a chance to pull victory out of the fire.

Not a pretty game, but an epic one! The Steelers are still all-but-eliminated from the playoffs, but I'm thrilled to see them kick the streak and earn some pride back for Pittsburgh.

I'm just glad my Chargers won. I felt kinda crummy for rooting against the Bengals after everything they've been through this week (seeing Ochocinco cry more than once over the whole thing was sad :(), but football is football. And my Bolts won! :eee :eee :eee

I love how the officials were flag happy that entire final drive, against both teams, yet missed a completely blatant hold on Cullen Jenkins on the TD pass to Wallace.

I'm not really upset that Green Bay lost... the defense played piss poor and got scorched by Roethlisberger the entire game. I just wish there was some bloody consistency with penalties being called.

That, and the use of the replay system. What ever happened to the need for "conclusive, incontrovertible evidence" to overturn a ruling on the field? Replay was not implemented to make close calls for the officials. It was designed to make sure that obvious and clear cut mistakes were corrected. It seems to me it's being used more and more as a way to avoid having officials make any sort of difficult call without using a slow motion, zoomed in look at it, which is, IMO, completely against the spirit and letter of the rule regarding it's usage.

I was mad as hell that such call wasn't made. Sure, there's a hold in almost every play in every game but that one was shameless, the guy was tackling Jenkins!

What a disappointment by the Vikes. They're getting their asses handed to them by a team with their 2nd string QB and without their best RB.

The D just didn't show up, I don't know what the deal is with tme on Sunday nights. They've played like complete and utter crap.

With the Aint's loss they had a very good shot to be #1 in the NFC. Now they're in jeopardy of going from a very solid 2nd team to a possibly 3rd seeded and without a bye the 1st week of the playoffs.

Jedi Master Carr
Dec 20th, 2009, 10:13:57 PM
I know this is shocking, the Vikings can kiss home field good bye. Now they need to look out for Philadelphia and the second seed. They lose one of their last two and the Eagles win out the Eagles take the second seed.

Lykaios
Dec 20th, 2009, 10:19:38 PM
Yeah, I don't what the deal with this team is. This is the time of year to turn it up a notch, instead they seem to be running out of gas. Last week vs Cincy it wasn't even a good win. The Bengals were the ones who didn't show up and gave the game away.

I find the fact that the Vikes haven't a had a 100+ yd rusher since week 10 concerning. The reason why Favre was so effective early in the season is because the rushing game was solid, it's no coincidence since them that this team has looked shaky.

I had to laugh when I saw this, for the second time this season an NFL player's pants got pulled down. At least he was wearing a jock :lol.

Not going to lie. I busy playing Assassin's Creed 2 and fighting a cold so I didn't pay attention to the games last week at all, I'm surprised I did that well considering I knew that there was a lot of wacky games.
