:( I hate the fact that normally I would have been all over this with some sort of bad/cheesy/inappropriate comment but all I can think of right now is all "let me know when you get the machine so I can make more of myself so someone can actually be at work doing my job so it doesn't pile up while I lay at home dying."

Does this happen to you often?
I mean the not noticing that you got hurt.
I normally notice cuts and bruises hours later when I undress for bed or somebody points out that I am bleeding.
Hehe and when I get fleshwounds or crushing injuries I go straight from a stabbing pain to a feeling of euphoria...
In other words beating me up is not as satisfying as one would expect it to be since I have to giggle most of the time when I get hurt.

3 years ago I had a small skating accident where I fell on my knee. My first thought was "damn my pants have a hole now" and that this is just a small scratch or that I had grazed my knee so I jumped right back on my feet and skated on for another hour. Infact I had a open 2 inch fleshwound and lost most of the "mucus body" infront of the kneecap.
Ever since that happened I double check on the slightest sting that I notice.

Old people crying.. is the saddest thing :(

I had an elderly customer tell me an epic story about how he came to Canada after the war the other day. He went to a fortune teller in Italy, who told him he would move across the ocean, have two years of hardship, have an accident and be in the hospital for three years, marry a non-polish woman and have only one daughter. It all came true - he had to work on a farm for two years in order to stay in Canada, and after that, he was working on building houses and had a tree fall on him. More people should listen to old people, because they can be pretty interesting.

Notes to self:

- You are not at home.
- You do not have any more clothes than the ones you brought with you.
- You should not be proud that you managed to fit everything in the washing machine at once.
- You should feel like a muppet for having nothing dry to sleep in.

(I'm eventually going to have to cover some of the details for this situation, but i'm not sure exactly what to say or whether anything really should be said. A few of you might have seen what I wrote earlier before I chickened out and thought better of it, deleting it. I'm still having difficulty dealing with certain issues revolving around it. I don't wish to cause any more harm or harbor regrets by saying the wrong thing, so my mouth is staying well-pursed. You just need to know that my wife and I and her family ..well, we have had some hurdles in our lives and that family dynamics being what they are tend to influence people views on certain things, sometimes at the cost of objectivity. "Blood is thicker than water" It also allows certain prejudices and preconceptions to take precedent. OK, that's all I'm saying about that for now. ;)

Tonight I orated (droned on?) for 3 hours, spoke freely at last without timidity (you have no idea how difficult it was..pure adrenaline at times ..it is so not like me. Plus this is life, not a film script. 8-O) , from the very depths of my being, trying to find some avenue of compromise, some healing words, to sooth my father in laws spirit and bring some semblance of closure, to smooth over our differences or at least allow us to agree to disagree and let each other be. I spoke of my enduring love for his daughter, my willingness to sacrifice to ensure that she and their grand daughter have a good life. My dreams for our shared life together.

I'm not sure if I got across all that I wanted to or got completely through, my tongue and my heart perhaps a bit childish many times in expressing themselves.

Our daughter really should have her grandparents in her life.....

It's a distinct possibilty.Sheila and I may not be able to care for her (reasons given earlier) until she reaches maturity (I hate the idea of her having to take care of us). If the time comes we would dearly hope that they may take her into their lives. Yet, if that is to work, my daughter needs to know that her father is at least respected...

*bangs head*

There are alternatives, things we can do to arrange for her to ensure she has a good life, full of love and opportunities at happiness. My sister for one would be willing to look after a child. And of course Sheila has other family that might be willing to care for her. I'd rather that not have to be the case, though.

As a side note. My wife and I are separating in a few months for awhile, me trying to make a future home for us overseas, she staying here trying to patch things with her family, saying her good-byes, get some sense of healing, while maintaining her role as the main money-earner (She has a rather good job). Gabriella will probably be living primarily with me in the NL until we can get things settled. It's a lot easier this way...certain socio-political issues come into play, plus getting her accustomed to the change as early as possible is for the better. even if it is difficult being apart.
. ;)
Alrighty, enough from me for awhile

I finally had to get a new display after my old CRT finally shorted and started sending smoke into the air Wonderful Wiz (or Mr Wizard?) style - oh my. Got the lowest power-using LCD I could find, an LG , which is rated at about-ish 20 watts (though it probably draws more at surge, etc). I had wanted to get it replaced earlier because of the amount of power the old tubes consume, but in a way the "greenest" monitor is the one that doesn't get thrown into a land-fill or sent off to China for some small child to have to deal with the toxins... sigh, there is a social cost to our gadgets as well.

*guilt*

The display isn't that bad, actually. For one thing, I'm no longer stuck at 1080x768 or less on a rather small screen 15", but can view the web and other apps at up to 1920 x 1080 in a glorious 22" (diagonal 16:9, but still more screen real-estate overall) glory.

Golly was I missing out. This internet thingy is pretty neat after all. ;)

I'm thinking of getting a new PC next year (when things have settled) with either a nettop, to better match the power-saving theme. Sigh, just realized I'll have to send this monitor over somehow or sell it/ give it away, getting a replacement - quite a waste in effort, uggh. Had to have something to use, though *grumble* Those ION equipped ones seem fairly capable, even if the main processor is a bit slow , perhaps maybe a refurbed core duo might serve better, or going to the other end in power, in case I manage to resecure a job in some CG-related field or want to do something on my own. I'll probably get both come to think of it, actually; the power savings and carbon negation on one paying for itself and in more than economic cost.

Need to find someplace to safely render this old relic I'm on relatively harmless, soon...

Hundreds of sellers attend, giving it a junky bizarre kind of fell.) and hawk off some of my books, DVD's, CDs, collectibles , antiques, knick-knacks, etc. The weather looks a bit bleary, but we art stalwart stock and are willing to brave it out.

How do people not understand the proper way to address a female? Age 0-12 is Little Girl, 13-20 is Girl, 21-40 is Lady, 41-59 is Woman, 60-79 is Old Woman, and 80+ is Miss. So simple, but people do not grasp it. :\

Got home about an hour ago from a mommy-and-me yogaerobics class. I couldn't do a lot of it with my hand, so my dad came to spot Rhys. It was still exhausting.

Ok.

I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, skinny. Never have been, never will be. I have come to terms with being fluffy.

So...on the commuter train tonight, I sit down next to a woman who shoots me a glare that would have decapitated someone less confrontational. Alas, I am Greek, and Spartan to boot. I smiled sweetly and didn't budge an inch no matter how hard she nudged me with her elbow. What can I say? My padding came in handy.

I sat there reading a couple of soccer articles in Greek when she got on her cellphone and started bitching to her husband about the moron making her commute miserable and taking up ALL of her space, etc.

She was ranting in Greek about how I wouldn't move and what a bitch I was, and so on...so, being an ignorant, confrontational American (as she called me at one point) I leaned in and crowded her more before quietly saying in Greek what roughly translates into "madam, at least I'm not a skinny whore who married the first man blind enough to confuse me for a goat".

She was speechless.

I could hear her husband laughing his ass off through the phone.

Moral of the story? Don't piss me off and try insulting me in my native tongue.

That amuses me xD Are there a lot of Greeks there? ((I'm very not familiar with Eastern states :P))

I've been cranky all day today... Decided not to subject poor AIM friends to my crankiness xD I'm stressing about school in the long run and my financial situation...there's literally no part time jobs out here -- I've been searching online for days. Hoping if I go into some stores around the area there will be "Hiring" signs, but I'm not really expecting it with the Holidays about to be over...they'll likely be cutting back again. :(

Oh, Dee. Your little rant there reminds me of something.

Some years ago, I was just out in my neighbourhood just walking around and this girl who had quite a few more pounds to her frame than was healthy for her age, walks up to me (with what I suppose were her hench... girls?) and called me FAT. Just like that. 'You're fat'.

TO MY FACE.

Now, for anyone that knows me well or long enough, I have had trouble gaining weight my whole life (I think I still do. :uhoh). I could eat an entire large pizza to myself at age ten and it would go nowhere. Getting poked at by doctors about my being underweight and the fact that there was zilch I seemed to be able to do about it was a bit frustrating, but honestly...this didn't trouble me until I hit puberty and my own family started harassing me about my breasts being 'two aspirin on an ironing board'. Who needs enemies, right? :rolleyes

Anyways, back to this girl and the accusation of extra poundage on my frame (awful hypocritical, if you ask me!). So, what did I do? I stared at her for a good minute in something between confusion and utter disbelief and then started laughing hysterically and walked away, apparently far too amused to bother being insulted.

Hey, I knew the truth and this girl tried insulting someone who was (and still is) virtually un-insultable. :p
