I am SICK TO DEATH of remakes. Especially in cases like this, when the original is basically a classic. But I have to admit that the idea of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger intrigues me. He was one of the highlights of Watchmen, just so wonderful as Rorschach. It will take a lot to succeed Robert Englund in the role...can he pull it off?

It remains to be seen....

I heard about this awhile back because some of this was filmed in Chicago. A friend of mine, a fellow nurse, has a bit speaking part at the hospital. :)

However... >_> I LOVE this series of movies and I am still perturbed that they did a remake.

The simple fact that Robert Englund is still around as an actor (mostly in silly low-budget/small time horror movies) and he wasn't a part of this makes me ....over annoyed. Like to an obscene degree to the point where I want to find the people who made this remake and smack them silly.

In Short...I don't approve. At all. Won't see it unless I hear it's the best thing since sliced bread and even then I will wait until I can somehow see it for free so the folks who did this get nooootthhhhinnnggg from me. NOTHING. :twak

...lol sorry, been a bad day. And the fact the originals aren't really that old/outdated, not to mention their status as basically "cult classics" at this point just irks the hell out of me that they feel the need to do this.

...for the record I was none too thrilled over the new Friday movie either. But at least there's been several Jasons. There's only ever been one Freddy >: *fist shake!!!* [/outrage]

Seeing Jackie Earle Haley in Little Children totally made me think he'd be a great choice. Very creepy(yet sympathetic) as a paroled sex offender in that film.

I've never been a freddy fan. Never got into the movies but I may end up seeing this purely because of Jackie Earle Haley. Superb actor.
