I had an idea.

Wait, hold on, before the number of jeers and jibes and other negative words starting with 'j', lemme get to it.

The jist of the idea was to start up a thread based on the title of this here thread, basically: where were your respective characters when they heard the outcome of the Battle of Endor?

Each post would basically cover the circumstances surrounding the character just before and just after they heard the news of the outcome, though this could be stretched to any reasonable amount of time before or after, as long as the main thrust of the post is actually the reaction of each character. I didn't envision much interaction between characters in this, as it's supposed to be a snippet, but now that I think on it a bit more deeply, I suppose that some limited interaction wouldn't hurt (i.e. someone wants to provide a segue for another character's reaction-post).

I didn't want to just set it up, but I thought a bit of feedback would be a good idea. Any comments and/or criticisms would be most welcome.

I for one really like the idea. Not everyone has something significant about it, but Endor is generally a pretty major turning point in the backstories of characters about the place. My only thought is a ponderance: would it be worth factoring Yavin in as well; or rather, the destruction of Alderaan? That seems to be the other particularly defining moment.

I suppose if this one got popular enough, the others would follow: i.e. When Alderaan was destroyed; When you heard the news that the Rebellion won the Battle of Yavin...

But I don't think even that Endor needs to be that big of an event in a certain character's background or life in order for them to have a reaction. Endor was a huge event for the galaxy, and thus the reaction of the respective characters would be enlightening as to how each 'tics' so-to-speak.

Another idea that struck me was the idea of a segue: what if the following post had to use something in the last line of the previous post in its first line? Then it would still be a collection of somewhat loosely connected reactions, but still literarily threaded together by means of more than just a common event.

Only if I'm allowed to post directly before you, and come up with the most awkward last lines possible. :angel

My poor, poor man. Ben is awkwardness define... okay, well not defined, but he's got a lot of experience in it.

I like this idea! :D

Would be fun to post as various characters of mine throughout the thread since I already know Endor would get a rather huge reaction out of one of them while another would be all "...*sips a beer* psh...who effin cares?" lmao.

I'd love to do an Alderaan version too since I think that's bound to get more emotional reactions from just about everyone. :D Including my Imperial who is from there! wheeeee.....

The thread is up: Where Were You When...? (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20025)

The title's the way it is for a reason, that being if it's decided to continue on with this idea to use other events, another thread won't have to be made if we don't want to.
