:(
She had to be put to sleep. Even though she was 13 years old, it was so difficult. I had Marie, and her brother Jean-Paul, for over 11 years. I basically rescued them from a family who's children were more enamored with the dogs and left the poor bunnies in the garage all the time. Easily forgot to feed, clean them, and with the weather changes ... I said I'll take them!
This was right before I graduated college :lol Damn. The vet said we did something right. She never heard, let alone see, bunnies that old.
I held my little girl until her last breath. I couldn't abandoned her and I still get choked up everytime I think about it, but I don't regret it at all. I'm going to keep her ashes too.
I've had fish and hamsters as pets but unfortunately, as much as I love them ... bunnies are like ferrets, cats and dogs, you get so attached to them and they do have such crazy personalities ... and eleven years is a long time. I consider the two of them my first real pets.

My baby when she was 2!
Jean-Paul hasn't realized yet that his sister is gone, they are litter mates. I worry about him now but tho he is blind in one eye, little guy still hops to the second floor of his massive cage condo.
