:(

She had to be put to sleep. Even though she was 13 years old, it was so difficult. I had Marie, and her brother Jean-Paul, for over 11 years. I basically rescued them from a family who's children were more enamored with the dogs and left the poor bunnies in the garage all the time. Easily forgot to feed, clean them, and with the weather changes ... I said I'll take them!

This was right before I graduated college :lol Damn. The vet said we did something right. She never heard, let alone see, bunnies that old.

I held my little girl until her last breath. I couldn't abandoned her and I still get choked up everytime I think about it, but I don't regret it at all. I'm going to keep her ashes too.

I've had fish and hamsters as pets but unfortunately, as much as I love them ... bunnies are like ferrets, cats and dogs, you get so attached to them and they do have such crazy personalities ... and eleven years is a long time. I consider the two of them my first real pets.

My baby when she was 2!

Jean-Paul hasn't realized yet that his sister is gone, they are litter mates. I worry about him now but tho he is blind in one eye, little guy still hops to the second floor of his massive cage condo.

I'm so sorry to hear :ohno It always sucks beyond belief to lose a pet :(

But you gave them the best home ever, and you're right; 13 years old is an amazingly long time for a rabbit to live. It's a testament to how well you treated and loved them both.

Aww :( I'm sorry to hear that. :hug

Losing ANY pet is a sad occasion, but even more so when they have been a part of your life for so long.

I'd just be repeating what everyone else has said, cos it's all true. That you rescued them and have had her for so long shows how well loved she was and what a great person you are. :hug

So sorry to hear about this Dani - you gave her such a wonderful home and the fact that you made her last moments as peaceful as possible are just another testament to the love and care you showed her throughout her long and happy life.

:hug for everyone :)

Jean-Paul, her brother, had some matted icky fur, so Drin took him to the vet and he's ok, but it turned into a spa day. After the matted fur was clipped off, he got a bath and a manicure :lol Little guy deserved it
