I've never seen Tron; I know the cult references about the light cycles, and that's about it. After having seen that trailer though... :eee

Can't say I'm that interested based on the trailer alone. What I've seen is simply movie-standard graphics, plot, and dialogue. I hope as more is released I see something that gets me interested, because the awesomeness of the original Tron is something to aspire to live up to.

Ummm..... that's all the original Tron was too - it was when you look at it dryily, pretty bad. But it was never supposed to be Shakesphere, it was was a very good idea resonably well done and a lot of tounge in cheek. Which made it awesome.
So if they keep it a bit silly, it'll work. But the trailer does look good, the lightcycles are very good

... if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
But yeah, Tron is just one of those movies that - for myself at least - has it's own spot in the 'happy memories of growing up' pile.

The graphics and special effects that they will be able to bring to the table will make the movie look awesome but i think they will ruin it on a whole. I think most remakes ruin the movie. It will never be the same.

For reference, I haven't seen the original Tron, but...
What a great movie! Not heavy on the plot by any means, but visually thrilling all the way through. If I had one gripe, it would be that the 'Castor' character (played by Michael Sheen) seemed a little out of place, but otherwise this kept me entertained from start to end, no problem. Also, the soundtrack is sweeeeet.
After reading a little about the backstory of Tron, it seems like they are setting up for a second movie with the cameo by Cillian Murphy as Dillinger, who is apparently the son of the villain from the first Tron. Otherwise I can't think of any reason for him to have been in the movie in the first place! Unless Cillian Murphy really just like Tron.

I've heard Tron:Legacy is pretty faithful to the original - ie lots of mind blowing effects, electronic music, a script without not a hint of plot and lightcycles.
And I loooooooove Tron so very keen to finally see this one.

There's a hint of a plot. :p
I loved it - make sure you go see it somewhere with a good sound system, because the soundtrack is AMAZING.

Having Daft Punk do the soundtrack for this is one of the biggest strokes of genius in the history of soundtracks.

Not really. It's mainly flashing lights, special effects (the 3D is extremely good and no gimmicks) and a lot of hellos to the original.
Very good soundtrack, but story? Nah.
As such I'm undecided. VERY much like the original so enjoyable..... but I dunno, I think it's a missed opportunity. It could and probably should have been a lot better. Tron itself was a cop-out

Incredible music. My expectations for the soundtrack were surpassed and shattered. I can see Daft Punk getting more soundtrack work in the future, if they want it.
It's also remarkably similar to the Mass Effect soundtrack in spots.
