I don't think these have been posted here yet, so...

First look: What a weird 'Wonderland' Burton's made:

Meet the residents of Wonderland (including pics of Depp and Bonham-Carter as the Mad Hatter and Red Queen):

I ...don't want to be giddy about this.

I don't want to be that Tim Burton fangirl.

:( But I totally got all excited when I saw that pic in the first look article with the flowers. It's just so pretty as a still image. Like...the whole scene is just so perfect to me.

Depp as the Hatter kinda scares me (but that might just be the Depp-overload of the last few years coloring my opinion here)... Red Queen kinda does too (aside from instantly reminding me of photo manipulations that I've seen on deviant art - This one in particular... (http://asunder.deviantart.com/art/Mr-and-Ms-Fright-97794877) or pretty much anything else by that artist.)

Now if you don't mind me...I'm gonna go look at the pic with the flowers and Alice again. :D

:) It always sort of annoys me how people mush Through the Looking Glass with Wonderland. Can't we just make two movies?

I agree about the general feel of the imagery - it looks gorgeous, although I am not entirely sold on the character design of the Hatter and Red Queen yet. I'll reserve judgement there until we actually see them in action. Alice looks spot-on, though!

Just glancing over the cast list... Stephen Fry as the Chesire Cat, Christopher Lee as the Jabberwocky, Alan Rickman as the Caterpillar :love All the Burton regulars are present and accounted for :lol

But then people would just accuse them of doing a sequel for more money! :lol

...that pic in the second article with the Queen of Hearts holding the piggie makes me want to spaz too. >: Where the hell is the Dutchess? lmao.

And yes, we don't talk about the fact that when I found out Stephen Fry was going to be the kitty...the movie instantly was sold for me. lol

I don't mind them not doing two movies, completely faithful to the books. Burton has probably picked out the stuff that will translate best into a visual spectacle, without aping on the previous Disney animated version.

There have been worse things done to the source material than this anyway, I'm sure.. the list of adaptions, re-workings, sequels, prequels and so on is never-ending.

Actually this movie takes place after Through the Looking Glass. It is Alice ten years later and she comes back to Wonderland. I like the idea of seeing Wonderland later. I do like Depp as the Mad Hatter.

The concept art / still photos look very appealing, and the cast choices appear good, and Burton / Depp is perfect for this movie. It's all very promising, but too early to say anything until we've seen a teaser I think.

Wtf? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8528820.stm

Tim Burton's new film version of Alice in Wonderland will not be screened at Odeon cinemas in the UK, Ireland and Italy, the cinema chain has confirmed

So now I need to pay even more to see a movie, because only the pricey indie cinema nearby will be screening it.

I saw it today and enjoyed it overall. Depp was great as usual, although Helena Bonham Carter stole the show. Mia Wasikowska was a very good Alice and did a good job for her first major role. Hathaway was the only weak link but the White Queen was never an interesting character, at least Burton didn't do much with her. It was a lot of fun and worth seeing in theaters.

I just got back from seeing it a few minutes ago, and I totally agree with you, Carr...very enjoyable, well worth seeing, a must if you're a fan of Tim Burton's more psychadelic kind of stuff. And yes, although Johnny Depp is great as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter is the life of the party as the Queen of Hearts. Every time she shouted "Off with their heads!" I couldn't help but giggle. :lol

What REALLY blew me away was realizing that that was Crispin Glover playing the Knave of Hearts. Holy crap! He's such a notoriously prickly and somewhat bizarre person who doesn't make that many movies, so it was really fun seeing him on screen again. :)
