Columbia Pictures horror comedy Zombieland focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) is a big wuss — but when you’re afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive. Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) is an AK-toting, zombie-slaying’ bad ass whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. As they join forces with Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin), who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem, they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombies.
Hollywood does Shaun of the Dead?

I hope this one is better than the last zombie movie... I somehow felt the urge to watch deadgirl last weekend. My first impression from the trailer was right...it was a disturbing movie and I kind of regret having watched it.
But this one looks like fun!

I haven't seen Deadgirl yet but based on the two trailers I'd say Zombieland has a verrrry different tone to Deadgirl... so hopefully you will be safe from being disturbed :mneh

well Zombieland looks goofball zombie flick (which I love) and Deadgirl... urhm... seems to be one of those "how far over the line can we go?" type movies. ...Still...not sure I want to see Deadgirl after reading a few reviews on it since the trailer had me going "is...is this about...what I think it's about...?" :\ I love me a zombie movie (both actually scary and silly) but...that one...I dunno.
THIS however... :D made me giggle at the trailer so I think it's a safe bet. lol

It is about that and nothing more!
... plus you must be in a very self-destructiv mood to enjoy this movie. The ending had a well executed twist but I kind of felt like an idiot for watching this movie to the end because it was a bad idea to watch it in the first place.
I still haven't regreted to switch off hostel after a few minutes into the torture scenes and I should have done the same here.

This looks like a lot of fun! :eee
I'll even put up with Woody Harrelson if it ends up being as good as it looks.

Woody was great in No Country for Old Men, so I'll give this a shot too.
I still think he's a bit of an idiot though.

This movie looks great! I don't mind my zombies served up with humor - I dislike traditional horror/zombie movies though. :ohno

No love for Woody? I thought he was really entertaining in A Scanner Darkly and Natural Born Killers (though he wasn't the main attraction in either, I guess)

Nope, outside of Cheers, I've just never been able to warm up to him. Although I do agree he was quite good in No Country For Old Men.

I just have to say.....my son was up for the role of "Little Buck" as woody's son in flash backs(pre Zombie's) . Samson was in the final 4, so too speak. It went to another kid who's mom was doing stunt work and (other work ;) ) but, hey that's the name of the business. Had I not turned down the stand in work I was offered, than maybe I would have had some pull :( But I was really proud at how Samson handled himself on his first audition, well it was actually a call back, but anywho..he got his first paycheck from the acting world!!! although it did cost me my bit on Halloween 2, i was scheduled the same day as his audition and I had to decline, although they were filming no more than 20 minutes away (had to throw that in ;) ) :( :( but thats what we do for our kids :)
Oh, woodys was as nice as he could be(not a fan though), but He was high as a KITE!!!!!!!

I admit most of my rancor towards Woody is because he's a big raw foodie advocate and I think that movement by and large is silly as hell.

Saw it today and liked it A LOT. Not as good as Shaun of the Dead, but still a great 2nd movie on a comedy-zombie double feature. Really funny and bloody, and Woody Harrelson was great. And the Bill Murray cameo was awesome...I'd heard about it ahead of time but forgot about it until it happened. And boy, is Abigail Breslin growing up fast or what?

Forgot to post that I saw this - I loved it. Its the only zombie movie I've ever seen in theater. Because they usually terrify me. :p But I really liked this!

I did let myself go last week and watched two movies in the theater, this being one. It was awesome :D I went in expecting less and all opinions were changed within the first fifteen or so minutes. Good, bloody, gun slinging entertainment from start to finish; minus the one cameo which I didn't quite get but still found oddly funny.
It'll definitely be finding a nice little nook on my dvd wall :)

We rented this over the weekend, and it was much more entertaining than the other horror-comedy we had (Doghouse).
Some highlights for me were the rules to stay alive by, Bill Murray's cameo and pretty much everything about Woody's character. If you haven't seen this already, I'd certainly recommend it. It's not quite on par with Shaun of the Dead, but it is very good.
Also... I don't know about anyone else, but I couldn't help but feel a bit of Left 4 Dead in the various locations the characters visited - especially on the freeway and in the themepark.

I actually liked it better than Shaun of the Dead because I loved the characters so much and those rules. The story overall was also more appealing to me.

I completely agree with the L4D2 feeling. I even called the clown. I went to my friend, "You don't know scary zombie until you see a clown zombie. And if this is following L4D2 like it has been, you'll see one." And I'll be damned if my friend didn't scream when she saw it. So called it.
But yea, saw this movie a few weeks back, and loved it. It was a fun movie.

I saw it a few months ago and really liked it. I would put it slightly below Shaun of the Dead though but they are very close.

I finally watched this movie thanks to a friend of mine who knows that I have got a soft spot for zombies and so he got me this as a birthday present.

First I have to admit that this is indeed THE L4D movie. Well they don't have the Midnight Riders on the Soundtrack but listening to the Raconteurs once the credits start to roll was just as good as that.
I think these guys understand what the zombie apocalypse is all about: Rediscovering yourself in a world without codes and rules and the only way that you can do that is in a comedy.
Having these rules flying around everywhere was really a nice way to understand how living in Zombieland works.
What makes me kind of sad is the fact that the script for this movie was originaly meant as a pilot for a TV show. I would love to have a zombie TV show.

Oh my friend, ask and ye shall recieve!
Frank Darabont, the guy behind all the good Stephen King adaptations, is bringing to our television screens Walking Dead, based on a comic book series of the same name. From what I've heard, the source material is first class, and apparently the scripts are excellent too, plus Frank Darabont knows how to send chills down your spine: The Mist, anyone? Anyway, the first production still was released a few days ago, I've attatched it to this post and think it looks pretty awesome.
Also, here's a link to the trailer for a great zombie mini-series which aired over Halloween a couple of years ago in the UK. The premise is basically this: it's Big Brother eviction night and the zombie apocalypse begins.

Dead Set was surprisingly good! I'm not sure it would have the same impact on anyone who isn't familiar with Big Brother in general, and the UK version of the show in particular, as a lot of the actors involved are UK TV personalities... but it's still worth a look if you can rent the DVD :)
