In a recent interview, Terminator Salvation Executive Producer Dan Lin dropped a bombshell about the new Tomb Raider film.
The new movie will be a prequel to the others – a kind of “Lara Croft, the Formative Years”, and it seems that the lovely Angelina Jolie is to be ousted in favour of Transformers actress Megan Fox, who actually described her own performance as “s**t”.
The Hollywood gossip mags have been rife with tit for tat comments over the past while and though Fox has denied that she’s trying to back flip into the role she reportedly ranted “I’m much hotter than her” when a fan got them mixed up.
Now, call me a traditionalist, but there’s only one Lara for me. I’ve seen footage of Angelina dangling from the rafters on various types of apparatus while performing her own stunts. It’s fairly insulting to dedicated fans of the film to replace the actress without consulting them.
Lara was one of the first female protagonists in a major series of games and we have watched her blossom from a slightly triangular and weirdly rigid existence (if you know what I mean!) into the fully formed and very lifelike incarnation she takes today, bouncing her way happily through her adventures.
Aside from her eye-wateringly tight outfits, the fundamentals of her character are her intelligence and skill. Does Megan Fox beat good old Mrs. Pitt in these stakes? Let’s see…
