If you were one of the gazillion people who went to see Transformers 2 this weekend, you may have already seen this trailer. If not, take a peek. Roland Emmerich has a really uneven track record as a director (oh dear God, please don't make me see The Day After Tomorrow ever again), but this one looks like it has potential. And John Cusack in the lead. Even my father was like, "Holy crap!" when this trailer was over.

If nothing else, with these movies I always find some morbid entertainment in seeing famous/familiar landmarks being obliterated. Not because of any malicious desire to see them destroyed in the real world, but just as an exercise in "What if?"

If there isn't anything else awesome at the time, I will probably go see this on the big-screen. All the destruction will probably look great in high-def.

It's probably pretty bad in that I'd go see it just for Cusack, right?

Effects look nifty though :D

The only director I'm content to watch destroy the world. I'm in!

We just watched this and... I actually enjoyed it, even though the whole way through I knew exactly what was going to happen. The moments when John Cusack was trying to out-drive/out-run/out-fly an earthquake/volcano/flood were the best.

I saw it on DVD a while back. There are 2 kinds of bad movies...movies that are so bad that they're incredibly entertaining, and then there are movies that are so bad that they're almost offensive in their stupidity. 2012 fell into the latter category for me. The special effects were quite impressive, but the rest of it was just...well...a disaster. :x
