Having been in production since what seems like forever now, HBO have finally aired a promo for their 2010 mini-series The Pacific. It's loosely based on the novels Helmet for My Pillow by Robert Leckie and With the Old Breed by E.B. Sledge. Also it is to be considered something of a companion piece to Band of Brothers so clearly they have their sights set high for this one and judging by the promo below, it certainly looks like no expense has been spared judging by the production quality...

...but will it be able to match its predecessor? We can only hope!

Band of Brother's is one of my favourites. And IMHO, if Tom Hanks and Stephen Spielberg are putting there name on it I think you can count on it being really well done.

Only thing I hope is that they don't water it down in any way. The war in the pacific was brutal and I hope they show it, or at least represent it. Thankfully it's on HBO where they will pretty much be able to do anything they want.

I'm ready to cough up another $100 for a DVD set and I will smile the whole time doing it. If it's half as good as Band of Brothers, it's worth it.

Boo to the video not being available anymore.

But if it's quality is anything like Band of Brothers was I'll totally watch it/buy it since that miniseries was just amazing.
