What a beautiful service they had for that little guy. There were several dozen people there, a few I actually knew, so I didn't feel completely out of place trying to find some small-talk amongst people I didn't know very well (apart from Jackie, the mother of the young boy). Even with such a healthy showing of support and love, it still felt somewhat intimate, being stretched out under the trees and lush grasses between dappled light and shade.

There was a little stage were people who knew the family spoke fondly of their memories, not lingering on sorrow of what might have been, but on love, hope and of a tomorrow with lives lived without fear. A few told stories, recited poems, and even cracked gentle jokes. Some of us found a voice in song.

I didn't attend the funeral, that was a more intimate affair left to close family. Jackie seemed contented, though. I'm glad she was able to find some comfort within her thoughts. Knowing them, Drew was tucked in one last time and blown kisses to.

I knew it was big, but I was naive as to how big the turn-outs truly are...

There were, I'm guessing, over 10,000 people who showed up for the L.A. Idol auditions, which filled about two and then some sections of Rose Bowl seating...sweet mercy. Sign ups were Sunday and Monday, while the actual audition was Tuesday. We signed up on Monday, putting us well back in the roster (first come, first served) By the time our section was starting to head down, they probably had already come pretty close to their quotas (or were past them, the judges probably starting out more lenient, but realizing they had so many to get through, had toseverely tighten up their scrutiny) and were being rather persnickety as to who they picked. The lady at the table I went to seemed to be at the end of her patience...Now whiners..sing your little bit ..and NEXT!!! I didn't see anyone of about a hundred people or so in front of us get the thumbs up...eek.

Needless to say, I wasn't one of the lucky ones, either. ;)

There were about 20 tables set out to handle the multitudes. There are a couple sifting of applicants over a couple of months, before they ever get the go ahead and sent on to see the Big Three...so, no, our celebrity judges weren't there..whew.

GG, just beginning tax returns for 2008/2009. I got a serious tax problem - as in my tax provisions are WAAAAY too small and I'm up for 25K. But hey, my little business broke into 6 figures after 7 years of struggle so I'm kinda stoked anyway and first real full time employee (use part timers couple of days a week) coming up later this year :)

I'm setting up a budget for three full timers by June 2010, one doing admin and sales so..... yeah. I want to roughly double client base and revenue. And finally draw a proper salary.

Still got about 30K in accounts payable which hurts cash flow a lot. The GFC has hurt a few things but I've picked up business from others leavign the industry so it's balanced. Still a big fuck you to US Republicans but all good.

Geez, seeing 6 figures really bring home how divorce ended up being an opportunity and a big second chance instead of a life crash

Sigh. It's quite busy by the influx of tourists in the Summer (relatively, movement is at a slower pace, so a few may seem like many more compared to other places. A hundred tourists in such a small place will seem like many more, but be hardly noticeable blip, say at a large touristy cafe in Paris, etc.), but I have a love-hate relationship with it that still infests my soul. Many of my best memories/nightmares of my younger life revolve around that area of villes.

Nowadays, for many of it's residents it's more of an artisan center and retreat away from the bustle rather than purely a sleepy farming community, but it still very rustic, old-fashioned looking, with a great deal of charm still, and has it's moments of quiet solitude where you can be whisked away and you can imagine you are in a different time....

Hmm.

I was always aware that I responded to and appreciated both genders, actually the sense of aesthetic beauty of people in general (people are such gorgeous creatures) , but I always thought that what I really found attractive was not the physical so much, but more of an emotional connection that I usually found more easily with females that were secure enough with themselves and mature enough to find their own calling as well as to put up with my own eccentricities. That, coupled with certain sensuous behaviors, being what really attracted me. ;)

I always assumed I was mainly hetero, but willing to forgo the stifling stereotypes and be more playful in my everyday outlook. Play with the concepts of gender, graft my own rules as long as they sit properly within the situation. Not worry about what people thought so much.

But then I saw this hunky athletic guy,today, kind of gray and balding, trying his best to keep himself together.. a passing awareness, but it made me think ... maybe I should be more OUTwardly honest with myself and admit I might have a healthy hankering for the fellas from a purely physical standpoint as much (if not more than?) for females; that technically if I were somehow in the right relationship I might find myself falling for a nice gent... and sexually.. well, I don't know..actually...maybe. :)

I think this weekend I will keep my promise to my father and cast some of his ashes to the sea. He was a fisherman by trade. It was where I think he felt most comfortable and at home, with his comrades, this other life he started apart from us. It will give me a chance to be alone with my memories and thoughts of him. I've been meaning to do it for several months, now, but I think the time has finally come.
