Shadows of the Republic - investigating traitors?

Following in Tionne's footsteps, I've got an RP I want to try doing, where I'd love to get some others joining in. The basis for this is a story from the Holonet News, which can be found here (http://www.holonetnews.com/50/news/1344_3.html).

I've got a character from that area, Sevrin Forlen, who's a member of Republic Intelligence - he becomes one of the members of the Crisis Branch and is tasked with keeping tabs on the various known CIS sympathisers within the government.

In the course of this, he'll figure out a few things (after talking to another SBI agent who claims to have found a super-secure comm channel on Coruscant - story here (http://www.holonetnews.com/52/news/13418_3.html)) and end up starting a private investigation of Palpatine himself - which will eventually lead to his own death.


So....

It's obviously going to be either one very long thread or a series of threads. What I would really like, is to get a news reporter character to befriend him and help him with the investigation. There can also be some friendly Jedi willing (or unfriendly Jedi unwilling) to pass him information about things like what they sense about Palpatine, etc...

And there can be anyone else. Senators, Clones, business men, etc

The thing is - Sevrin can pretty much stumble onto the truth itself, as long as no one else finds out and he gets taken down by someone in the end.... the reporter guy can be with him all the way, or not....


They can figure out stuff like where the clone army came from, who's paying for it all, the Sith reappearing (figure the Jedi might have a lose tongue and tell him about Maul and all that)...

There are a ton of things that could come to light if someone had all the clues. If you've got a character who's got Intel clearances and is fairly neutral, there's bound to be some way to amass a whole wealth of information from all over (like the Sith - I mean, no one remembers them yet a thousand or so years before Maul and Sidious there was a galaxy-wide war against them?!?)...

Atton Kira should be working for Republic Intelligence at this point in history. He's not a reporter yet, though.

And as always, mah Clones and Jedi are at your disposal, if you want 'em.

Maybe they can cross paths then.... but I'd definitely like to have a reporter character in there.

As for Jedi - I figured out that Sevrin would have to be a regional director in order to work inside the crisis branch, so he would have a fairly high clearance. The Crisis branch is liaising with the Jedi council and the loyalist committee, and later with Palpatine himself, so he would have some access to the Jedi.
It would be nice to have at least one very friendly Jedi who would tell him bits and pieces about internal affairs. Stuff like Qui-Gon killed by a Sith, Dooku being a Sith, the rule of two, there being a Darth Sidious who is located on Coruscant itself and is manipulating the Senate....

In the last Clone Wars book, Bail Organa was extremely put out that no one told the loyalist (and later the security) committee that the Sith are a much larger threat than the CIS - indeed that no one outside Palpatine and a few select people outside the Jedi Order know of the existance of the Sith. But even there no one seemed to connect that the whole war and everything was orchestrated by the Sith - Bail sees them as two separate threats, even in the end.

I figure whatever Jedi joins this thread flagged as friendly, would have to be a) high up to have an understanding of current events (cos the whole thing with the darkness clouding events seems to be something only the senior jedi seem to feel), and b) extremely open and willing to take a risk in trusting an outsider with the information.

POSSIBLY it might be interesting to have a totally newly created Jedi who is slated to be killed alongside Sevrin - because the two of them find out stuff together and/or the Jedi acts as Sevrin's security to ensure nothing happens but fails badly...

Come to think of it, this whole story could do with a dark sider, too - someone that Sidious sends out after he figures out events. OR.... an even messier idea adding another layer of nasty to this - and that's where the Clones come into this - Palpy orchestrates some kind of mission for the Clones to take down Sevrin and the Jedi, telling the clone squad that Sevrin is a CIS collaborator planning to assassinate Yoda or something with the help of a Jedi turned dark ....

The clones would have to be watched by someone Sidious sends, to make sure they do the job without finding out the truth.

Now that we're all busy posting and looking for stuff to post more - I thought I'd throw this into the mix again, to see who's willing to come along.

I've got a Jedi Master of the period to throw away, but it's a bit boring to only use my own characters, so.... any takers?
