Naadia Demici

The central library of Saffia withheld many secrets hidden in dusty tomes stashed on endless lines of shelves; it had become Naadia's second home from the very day she learnt to read. Love for knowledge and cognition, thirst for understanding - those propelled her towards the monumental stone edifice almost every day, where she sought entertainment amidst books and scrolls, instead of indulging in more earthly pleasures like the youngest child of the Demici flock.
Giovanni had, unlike Naadia or Renato, inherited the character flaw of arrogance from his great uncle, although to a much lesser extent. The boy was nothing short of a bon vivant and truant; adored by the ladies of the court, he spent most of his days sleeping late and enjoying the perks of the immense wealth which he inadvertently spent.
For this very reason, Naadia had grown much closer to Renato than to her younger sibling - the two shared interests and passions, often engaging in discussions that surpassed the common court thematics of rumours. It was already high noon when the ebony haired woman traversed to the library, clad in an ivory coloured sleeveless dress and a cape of the same hue, large hood hiding her face from the sizzling sun. The shade and coolness within the thick walls of the depository were a welcome change that made the cape redundant.
Having rid herself of the excess over-garment, Naadia strolled down the corridor that connected many separate chambers stashed with books. It was only when she saw a familiar face on one of the repulsor-lifts that she stopped and looked up at where it was positioned, some fifteen feet of the ground, just under the highest shelf.
''I thought I'd find you here...'' Naadia voiced meekly, flashing a small, honest smile.
