I'm not sure if all this has been covered already or not, but it looks like Mass Effect will become a trilogy.
Set to be released early of 2010.

Yay! I loved the first one and I still play it from time to time, I even DLed the new content and missions which were not bad by any means.

http://www.geeks.co.uk/2009/07/30/bioware-backtracks-on-mass-effect-2/

One of the most anticipated features of the upcoming space-em-up Mass Effect 2 was developers BioWare’s pledge that players would be able to import their character from a Mass Effect save file.

Rather than starting afresh with Commander Shepard, we were promised that we could start ME2 with the stats and abilities gained from one or more playthroughs of the first game.

Now it seems that BioWare has decided that this is a bad idea.

Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck) as deadly Cerberus operative Miranda Lawson, who has been genetically engineered for superior mental and physical traits.

Seth Green (Austin Powers, Family Guy, Robot Chicken) as Joker.

Keith David (Crash, They Live, Halo 3, Modern Warfare 2) as Admiral David Anderson.

Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica, Canada's Next Top Model, Command and Conquer 3, StarCraft II) as EDI, the voice of the new Normandy.

Carrie-Ann Moss (The Matrix Trilogy, Memento) as Aria T'Loak, the crime lord who rules the planet Omega.

2009 Emmy winner Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Saddam, 24, House of Sand and Fog) as Admiral Shala'Raan vas Tonbay.

Michael Hogan (Battlestar Galactica, The Day the Earth Stood Still) as Captain Bailey.

Adam Baldwin (Chuck, Full Metal Jacket, Halo 3, Half-Life 2: Episode Two) as Kal 'Reegar.

Just finished my first playthrough and Woah what a ride!

I highly recommend to anyone with a character from ME1 to do the port to ME2. Your decisions and actions carry over from the first game. You'll also receive a boost in credits for doing so. And if you're looking for a change in gameplay you can also switch that character's class and skills.

Just finished my first playthrough 100% Renegade and 60% Paragon in the end.
I could not manage to reach level 30 at the end and I chose Thane as the love intrest.

But after 50h I still do not know how Salarians reproduce themselves (I love that running gag...Salarion Bachelor party LMAO).

Anyway it's a great game.

I will move on to something else and once Bioware has released some more intresting DLC I will return to mass effect for the paragon playthrough.

I am still undecided who is going to be the love interest for my male Shepard. I was pretty disapointed over the selection of male love intrests:
-Jacob is a Sissi
-Garrus is a Turian...why not go all the way and date a Krogan in ME3.
-Thane is the assassin with a heart of gold...

I kind of missed the male version of Jack. Since it would have made sense if my Renegade shepard was dating a bad guy.

I haven't beaten the game yet. I got stuck mining resources for finish up all my upgrades before I went through the omega relay. However, it takes forever to mine the planets. All I need is platinum. I have vast amounts of every other resource, including Element Zero, but I cannot find any platinum to save my life. It eludes me, and I need a vast quantity of it. I just kind of gave up at that point.

I was playing a paragon male shepard with Tali as my love interest. The game is good, but the resource gathering is just bogging me down and taking the fun out of it. I do not enjoy sitting in front of my TV for hours searching planets for resources when I could be playing another game and having even more fun :/

Crusader

My suggestion is to only harvest rich planets and you do not need more than:

More doesn't necessarily mean better. Know that it only takes 195,000 Palladium, 275,000 Platinum, 220,000 Iridium, and 31,000 Element Zero (+5000 for every Bonus training and +2500 for every retraining of powers and skills) to purchase EVERY research project in the game.

I am nearing the end (I guess?) of my first place through with a mostly Paragon male Shephard that I imported from ME1. I just selected my teams for the final mission... and I am wondering how much of an impact my choices will have on the success of the mission and who survives! :ohno

For reference, I had managed to charm Miranda, Tali and Jack - but the game forced me into being with only one of them (Tali) :shakefist I also had Yeoman Chambers wrapped around my little finger, feeding my fish for me (:lol), until she was abducted by the Collectors!!

EDIT: Well, I just clocked it for the first time - what an utterly epic ending!! I loved the whole process of moving through the Collector base, having to select and support the other teams. I was a little bit confused about who exactly had survived the mission since the last cinematic featured only part of the crew. Looking at the ME2 wiki, I seem to have picked perfect candidates for all the support roles and saved all of the crew (except Yeoman Chambers, Gabby and a few of the other minor characters) - I had Garrus leading the secondary team the whole way through, and brought him and Mordin with me up against the Reaper/Human Larva. I also sent Legion to escort the remainder of the crew back to the Normandy, whilst everyone else 'held the line'

Abusing your authority: Mass Effect 2
http://potentialgamer.com/2010/06/13/abusing-your-authority-mass-effect-2/#more-756

An interesting article about the Jack sub-plot, which I hadn't thought of before. One thing I do agree with is that at times the moral choices you make can feel limiting. At least a couple of times I have selected one of the radial conversation options, only to find Shephard saying something that I didn't want him to say.

Crusader

I find it kind of intresting that the writer of this article points out that Jack might be too young for a relationship with her counselor but just ignores the fact that Tali was basicly a teenager in Mass Effect 1 based on the traditions of her society... So guiding her through her pilgrimage just to get her laid 2 years later when she is considered as an adult is a lot better...

This is like waiting for the Olsen twins to get 18 in our society :D

This is actually my reason why I don't want to share Tali's enviroment suit. Next to the fact that this could become an unhealthy experience for a Quarian.

Well, I will hopefully be playing it soon once BioWare credits me with the points I have paid for but have not been creditted with :grumble In the meanwhile, I am just enjoying the awesomeness of FemShep. Oh man, Lair of the Shadow Broker... amazing. The pacing and variety of action/storyline was just perfect. Even the little vehicle chase which felt a lot like swerving through the space lanes on Coruscant :D

Daria Shepard even managed to convince Liara to come aboard the Normandy (;)) for an evening together - I really hope that they include Liara in ME3 now. I feel like I need to see the end of this romance, especially after I had Shepard promise Liara that she would always come back to her (...and then went downstairs and flirted slightly with Yeoman Chambers :uhoh)

Apparently it worked... I just heard him say from his room in an exhausted and fully immersed voice: "What another transmission? Who do I have to save this time?"

Poor little buddy the weight of the galaxy on his young shoulders: Jan Shepard a true paragon of humanity.

Not using the PC so I cannot answer. My guess is that whoever is doing the monetary transaction has an infrastructure set up for all their online properties and it's easier to use points.

Either that or they have a stupid system set up like MSPoints where you have to buy more then you actually need, and almost no purchase is a nice round number of MSPoints causing you to have to buy a whole bunch more when you might only need 10 or something stupid like that.

Finally! Note to self Nukes always make things easier!

A thrilling ride till the end. But battling the enemies without your squadmates leads to tough fights. I still consider the lair of the shadow broker as the perfect epilogue to ME2 but this is the kind of cliffhanger that makes you really excited about ME3.

The Arrival has something that ME2 was lacking: the appearence of a real REAPER. The final DLC really reminded you why you fight and that all the sacrifices you have made so far will be nothing compared to the ones that you will have to make if you want to win this war.

Dasquian Belargic

Once you are all done with the Arrival we should have a spoiler discussion about what we think what is going to happen in ME3. I basicly would love to create some kind of moral compass by collecting all the decisions that we considered important. What did you chose and what outcome do you expect from it to come?

Like is it important that Wrex is leading the Krogans or maybe him leading the Krogans will make things worse because of his temper.

Does Anderson have what it takes to rule the Alliance in this crisis or does he lack Udina's diplomatic skills for uniting the races of the council.

What role will the Rachni and the Geth play?

Oh and is Shepard finally meeting Kailey Sanders?

I have to admit, I felt a bit let down by Arrival. I think I've been spoiled by the Lair of the Shadow Broker, in terms of what I want from DLC. Arrival felt short, confined to essentially a single location, and without any real twists or turns. I did almost want to fail the mission to see what happens when the clock reaches zero :lol

It is basicly just a teaser. I liked the way they tried to add some variety with stealth gameplay and the battles were very well orchestrated and hard in a good way. Certainly the missing audio for team members and well no team members at all sucked. Not to mention the size of this was way too small compared to Overlord(Which I highly recommend) and the Lair of the Shadowbroker.

Dasquian Belargic

The only bit that felt like a teaser (and awesome) was Shepard speaking to the Reaper at the end, telling it how we were going to fight regardless of if we're doomed cause damnit we're human and that's what we do!

Yup. Splitting your crew up into teams, but seeing them all work together to move towards the end goal.. that was what made that ending so fantastic. I love the moments when you have your team has the biotic shield up around them for that long walk while the diversion team keeps the Collectors busy.
