... my daughter's reaction to the news: YESSSSSSS!!!!

Apparently she's been wanting to get it, too, because half her class have had it and they all told her about the fun things she gets to do.... like lying in a darkened room, dabbing ointment on the hundreds of spots every few moments (this is a particular highlight!) and going through the endless possibilities of whom she might have infected within the last three weeks of the incubation period....

... unfortunately the only one she has infected so far could very well be me. I never had it as a child, and I have some of the symptoms (not the spots - yet). Which would soooo totally suck. Tomorrow I'm going to my doctor and getting checked out, just in case.... but even if I don't have it yet, there's a 100 % chance that I will get it, after being around her all the time.

Bah...

Eep. :( All I've heard about is how kinda dangerous it can be for an adult to get it. Hopefully it be too problematic...or maybe you'll luck and somehow not get it at all.

Oh yes, do go to the doctor!!! It is so weird that chicken pox is mostly harmless (if not fun) as a child but dangerous as a teenager/adult! Sometimes moms have 'pox parties' and invite people who want their kids exposed to it over when their kids have it. Which is funny. :lol

Hope Nya doesn't itch too much, and that you're okay. :hug

Oh I found an interesting cure for the itchies and wiped her down with black tea, now she's in bed and asleep without even as much as a twitch. That was so much better as the damn ointment the doctor gave her - where's the point in dabbing it on every spot if there are apparently hundreds of new ones springing up every second...? The black tea works wonders, and can be used on the face, too....

As for me... I think I'm rather paranoid now.... every now and then, whenever I think of it, I itch somewhere, and then I always wonder if that's the beginning. But apparently I don't have anything yet, at least not visible to the naked eye....

Haha, I love that she is excited about lying in the dark, applying ointment. What an eccentric :D

I had this when I was younger luckily... though like ^, I am finding myself getting itchy just thinking about it now :uhoh

Apparently someone told her the wrong story, too - she confused it with tonsilitis. According to my mom, her first exclamation was: "YAY! I get to eat ice cream all day!" :lol

:lol Your daughter is a riot. Poor little thing.

Ugh, here's hoping you avoid the mom-curse this time and don't catch it from your little one! I've never had them but one of my older brothers got it when he was sixteen and it was miserable, he got all infected and disgusting. :(

Poor dears. :(

The Mom's Curse is unavoidable. Snuggling your kid whilst in a hazmat suit just doesn't have the same tactile grace or nurturing spirit to it, even if it is the brightly-colored jumper kind.

People blessed with the 'pox have something else to look forward to when they get older, though...shingles!

Never had that thank goodnes. Don't want any either! :P

Wish I hadn't heard about Herpes Simplex possibly being connected with acquiring some forms of Alzheimers later in life, though. Have had that. :/

Apparently Herpes is Herpes no matter the strain.

Uggh.

I got ice cream when I had chicken pox. =)

My poor sister though - the soles of her feet broke out the worst and she couldn't walk.

I remember having to stay home while everyone else got to go on a fun excursion with friends of the family to a fantastic park. But the joke was on them because there was a huge thunderstorm and they all got soaked. >D

Day #2 has begun....

... already the cries of joy have turned to whining and complaining about having nothing to do. Her body is now covered in spots and there's no point in dabbing the ointment on one by one, I'm just rubbing it all over here... it's no longer so much fun for her, too.

Yes, but the package of gummibears I brought her from the pharmacy seems to make it bearable again. Now I gotta think of fun things to do for her.... might be a good time to go shopping for a new book....

Went to the doctor myself and had them take a sample of my blood - the lab results won't be in before Friday, however! I swear I have it, I itch just thinking about it, even tho I still don't have any spots anywhere... might just be paranoia, tho... :lol

I remember I had it in the summer and went fishing a lot. Probably to keep me out of the house and away from my siblings >_>

Oh all is well and wasn't that much of a problem after I found that black tea cure...

I didn't get it. It could have been that I got infected by the same person who infected my daughter (since we don't know where she picked it up), but then I would've had it already. So if my daughter gave it to me, we'll find out next week when the three weeks incubation period is over.
