No kidding!

Here, over the last hour we've been getting on the average 3-5 lightening flashes per second along with accompanying soundtrack (should have recorded that...better than stock recordings...geeze) , hail and occasional torrents of rain.

It's like the Midwest sent California the sampler pack. 8-O

It's almost completely calmed down now, down to a wimper.

So my wife has begged and cajoled me into auditioning for American Idol later this month. I keep telling her it's more of an entertainment and personality parade show than a pure talent show and that with the thousands that are going to show up in L.A. chances are rather slim of me getting through. If you have some experience in the biz there are better routes than standing outside for a whole day just to wind up being too nervous from the stress to sing on key or be too tired to be able to give it your all and get dismissed after a minute without there really being a chance to shine at your best. There are just too many bodies they have to get through at these massive cattle-call auditions.

For these types of shows, I tend to think the really green, naive people who haven't had any experience yet who have big dreams, the kookier personalities or people with great egos who think they can sing, but haven't had any training or have the natural talent tend to make for better television of this sort and get the nod from the producers to get through the prelims. This of course means some people with some talent, but not necessarily great stage charisma or 'peculiar' personalities who might with a little practice and training be able to put on a good show will get cut.

Still, as someone who used to dream, I still watch these shows on occasion. ;)

I have had some success with auditions in the past, though. I actually got a part in a local area musical production of 'The Secret Garden' a year or so ago, that went over pretty well, so it does happen. ;) You just have to keep chipping away at it. Eventually you will have something someone might be looking for.

I'll be sure to tell you..when I don't get through with this one. :P

I feel kind of sick and happy at the same time right now:
A friend of mine is having a hard time right now and she is haunted by terrible nightmares. I know that she is a pretty "spiritual" person so I decided to give her one of my dreamcatchers that I kept as a souvenir from my first trip to the USA.
Now her nightmares are gone and she is so happy and since I do not believe in such stuff I feel kind of bad because I manipulated her.
I am not quite sure if I did a good or bad thing...

If its vile and disgusting, why the hell were you stupid enough to go and eat it, then?

Because it was 4am, no food to speak of anywhere after a very long night beating the shit out of servers and was in desperate need of anything to not pass out, not even a bloody kebab shop open. And geez, didnt I pay for that next day.....

If the client says he wants his network up next day, at my rate per hour, I'm happy to oblige, even if it means I have to skip meals and suffer later -_-

Oh like I didn't have enough reason to hate this city and the Lakers. Yeah, I know they don't have much to do with it...but seriously... you are laying off TONS of city workers, forcing the rest who get to keep their jobs to take mandatory unpaid furlough days... the school system could desperately use new teachers, pretty sure the police and fire departments need funds right now too... and you want to blow a million (which I know isn't that much in the grand scheme but still) on a fucking parade that the actual franchise could pay for in whole easily rather than just paying part of it?

Screw this city. Seriously.

Being a little brother to a big sister is exhausting, no matter how much older either of you get.

Psssst, sis is preg.

(how did that happen? 8-O Well, ok, I know...but still, she was my big sis dangit, even when she moved away to university and the grown-up world...even during the drama and trauma within our family, the media frenzy revolving around it (omfg) and the turbulence of my early teen years ...and ah..she didn't seem that interested in relationships...and...and..and...ok..ok... ok.. she deserves all the happiness her heart can stand... IIRC the city is not picking up the tab.

In the days before the event, much was made of its estimated $2 million cost, with critics complaining that a city a half-billion dollars in debt and facing layoffs could not afford the celebration.

But private donors stepped up at the 11th hour and in an unusual move underwrote most of the cost. It was the first of at the four Laker victory parades this decade to be privately funded.

Billionaire developers Eli Broad and Ed Roski were among several donors who kicked in $850,000, and the Lakers and AEG, a unit of the Anshutz Co. that owns Staples Center, paid $1 million in production costs.

So what do you get when you buy the Kisskaloo book? Some more strips than the ones that were released on his blog.

Sleepy-eyed toddlers that are still soft and fuzzy and just want to cuddle.
Freshly laundered sports bras.

Freshly laundered sports bras.

Raspberries.
Yum! Agreed, though today I had a bananananana.

Oh, and on the way home I saw a perfect rainbow. It was really bright and colourful, completely unbroken and stretched in a perfect semi-circle across a gloomy sky. I love walking in the rain, I was listening to To Kiss or Not to Kiss from the BSG Mini Series soundtrack and just as that really beautiful singing begins that was when I looked up and saw it there. No-one else seemed to be paying it any attention and it was like, just me and the rainbow. It gave me a huge grin and perhaps I'm a hippy but I really wish I'd taken a picture now.
