House. Plants. Almost all planted now, just the new roses need holes dug.

Soooo pretty! :D
I miss my yard now. Apartment life is nice, but there is a lack of yard! :( I do have a nice porch though. I'll replenish my herb garden in pots if I must!
It looks great though, very nice. :)

Thanks guys! :)
We're planning on putting in an herb garden back behind the arbor. After we stand it back up, of course. ;)

Greeeeen! This is such a big change from the last photos I think you posted, which were of the place all covered in snow. Looks very pretty all round... very tidy and orderly, which is strangely exactly what I expected from your garden :lol

Oh good :) Everybody should do this. Fresh herbs are low maintenance and the payoff is enormous.

Got a bunch more pansies and gerbera daisies today at Costco. Planted them and the roses... ^_^; I'm tired. No new pictures. :p

Do you do any kind of editting on those photos, or do they just naturally come out that way? i.e. bright colours, and a slight shadow around the edges

Just a Nikon D60 SLR. I wuv it. All my pics (these ones anyway) are shot on full auto, and I've done a little color tweaking to some of the pics (to warm up the colors if they were too cool, etc) as well.

The blue flowers really look nice with your house in the background :)
Planted your herbs yet?

So purdy! :D
I only have a small patch of something in the front of the condo we're renting. I don't wanna do anything to the small patch (i.e. invest money in it) until I know for sure our offer for the condo goes through.
*keeps praying the offer is accepted*

Thanks guys :) Hope that offer goes through, Rie! *fingers crossed!* (Still waiting on a tummy pic... ;))
Charley my herbs got planted a few days ago - they're already sprouting! But I discovered why starts are so popular. Some of those seeds are literally microscopic. I was trying to get just two or three seeds per, but ended up with a bunch in some because the seeds were just so darn tiny. I'll have to thin them out in a few days.

Yeah, starting from seeds can be a pain in the butt. It's recommended to get an indoor planter and work on them until they're beyond the tiny sprout stage, then plant them in a bigger pot or in soil outside. I went the lazy way and tossed chives and cilantro in the outside pot and they took off okay, but it can be slow going.
The great thing about live herb plantings is that they're actually cheaper than the live trimmings you'd buy in a produce aisle. So if you find that you're a bad gardener, you can yank the plant out, eat it, and keep the free dirt for later!

I'll have to take a pic of my set up. They're in one of these suckers (http://www.hardwareandtools.com/invt/8434128), and have been in the garage. We have a little greenhouse that Ty just set up, so he put them outside in that, but I'll probably move them back in so they don't get extra crispy.

Thats a really clever idea, and it's got a top! I wonder if I could get away with that, since the cats can't kill it.
Lilaena De'Ville
May 28th, 2009, 07:43:34 PM
The top doesn't snap on, it just sits on top. So I'd say the cats would probably get into it, if they were determined. :) If you have a spot outside that's out of the sun you could just stick it there... unless the cats are outside too...

I wish the cats were outside.
Very, very outside.

Mah leetle sproutlings...

Oregano seeds are the teeniest things you've ever seen. Seriously. Hence so many sprouts in one container. Eventually these should be thinned to one per. Not yet though!

Thyme seeds rival oregano for smallness. Oregano still wins though. The only sprouts yet to appear are cilantro/coriander, parsley (Italian flat leaf of course), and rosemary.

Haha, parsley and coriander grow with retard strength. Seriously good luck trying to eat enough to keep the growth under control :)
