View Full Version : Is there anything decent on TV?

Because of the frakkin huge hole BSG's conclusion has left in my TV viewing life, I'm left wondering... is there anything worth watching on TV at the moment? Are there any currently airing series you would recommend? Of any genre, really. Even series' that are over or on hiatus, where there's a season or two to catch up on.

PS. Please do not answer with Heroes or Lost. Not interested.

I wouldn't recommend Heroes right now anyways because its fall from TV grace has been so great, it's really discouraging. :x

The only show I can think of right now is one I'm watching on BBC America, so it's already aired on your side of the pond and you've already watched it if you were interested...Ashes to Ashes, the sequel to Life on Mars. Life on Mars was so good that I couldn't believe that anything could be better, but Ashes to Ashes really is an even better show.

Well I watch 24 season 7 right now and the good thing about this season is that it is really easy to get into this show without watching the last 6 seasons.

Dollhouse really starts to work for me as a decent show.

I started to watch the first season of Veronica Mars again which I can always recommend since it is like the first season of Heroes a complete story that is really enjoyable.

I'm trying "Kings".

Not sure about it yet, but giving it a chance.

Other then that not anything that is new.

I'm horrid...I don't really watch anything anymore.

House is still amusing when I catch it (<3 cynical asshole), but I'm like a season behind now since I don't have cable TV at the place I typically spend my evenings.

Same with Dexter. *sighs and waits for season 3 to come out on DVD*

Uhh...Tudors I still make time for, but you already knew that. (though I'm already behind on this season. I blame the lack of Anne.)

Let's see...

Aside from that I'm a Discovery Channel junky... Planet Earth, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, Time Warp, Recreation Nation so on and so forth...

But yeah, I have a serious lack of shows that I'm religiously watching nowadays. Even Heroes started kinda getting "meh..." they need to stop offing the characters they create that I really enjoy. lol

Kinda been watching Fringe and Dollhouse. Sort of interested in Kings, but 30 Rock is my favorite thing on right now.

I've actually been trying to pare down my DVR scheduler, I've been gorging on the TV and its rotting my brain. I did catch ep. 2 of Kings, its an interesting concept for a show - a modern take on the story of David in the Bible. I'm watching it sort of with morbid curiosity, as it isn't a religious show, persay, yet has its roots in the historical story of King David (David Shepherd in the show) and King Saul (King Silas).

But I love police procedurals, and two I really like right now are Castle and The Mentalist.

Dollhouse is also good.

Dunno if you watched the first season, Jen, but Robin Hood started back up last Sunday; first ep should still be on BBC iPlayer.

Aside from that, I watch House, CSI and 24, but they're already a decent way through the season, and it might be awkward to jump in part-way through.

There's not a huge amount else on TV at the moment though - far too many reality shows, quiz things, celebrity something-or-others, and stuff like that. What happened to having a decent show on at 6pm every night? :(

I really enjoyed Robin Hood. It offers light entertainment and delivers. I only got a couple of episodes into Season 2 though since I find it very difficult to follow TV on a weekly basis and this is why I generally wait until several seasons are available on DVD. I would've bought Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD by now but for some reason the prices are pretty extortionate. I'm not paying £40 for twelve episodes! :shakefist

Also, I just remembered, The Wire is meant to be excellent television. I'll have to check that out sometime.

So season 3 of Robin Hood has started in the UK? Goody! That means we'll be seeing it on BBC America soon :). I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons, and I'm curious to see what direction the show will take after Marian was killed in the season 2 finale.

I like Fringe a lot too, for me the main reasons for watching are John Noble and Joshua Jackson as nutty professor Walter Bishop and his son Peter.

If you haven't tried True Blood, I really recommend that as well. It's definitely for adults only, but it's great cheesy entertaining fun.

I also know a lot of people who love Dexter (including my sister), everyone I know who watches it raves about it. I've never made time for it, though.

Dexter, of course.

The only show I actually plan to, and do watch every tuesday is NCIS. I work tomorrow so I'm going to miss it. :(

My TV's been pretty random lately. I'm not sure what shows are in season now, and what aren't. But, I do usually try and catch House when it's on, but, I'm also partial to Mythbusters, Top Chef, Ninja Warrior, MXC, Unbeatable Banzuke, American Chopper, or whatever cool documentary-of-the-day History Channel or Discovery are running.

Or I flip to Boomerang and watch Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack re-runs.
