That should about cover it. I feel like such a shill, but this will probably be the one that I will settle on, for now, and replace the PS3 that sits on my desk and gathers dust because it doesn't fit into my component rack and is too inconvenient to use, unless I shell out for that Harmony remote adapter coming out. (I'm just not that into gaming right now);)

(Sorry about the silly ICANHAZCHEEZZBURGER? dealy, but even I have been influenced.) :)

Ok I looked at most of the links, but I can't find the price anywhere, except something that said $599? I'm not sure what this thread is about - we can get a good Blu-Ray for about $200 now (have a rain check for one for $150 that just needs to get in stock again).

So...

Does this mean DVD prices are going to get even cheaper? >_>

I wouldn't think so - if companies want to encourage consumers to switch to Blu Ray at least. On the flip side, reducing prices will help them clear existing stock.

I got a blue ray for Christmas I think my parents paid 150 for it.

Just buy a PS3. You can get one for $300 now, and it's far and away the best blu-ray player.

Yes, it does not make a lot of sense to buy a $500 Blue Ray player, when you can get one of the best ones for $300 and a console to boot.

If you're trying to save money, it makes more sense to add a blueray drive to your desktop and hook it to your TV with HDMI / DVI + optical or RCA, or a big LCD (you can get a 27.5 incher for $350 shipped (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824254026). If you're more dedicated, build a media jukebox computer from cheap parts (which you can also use for h.264, xvids etc) and use it with Media Portal (http://www.team-mediaportal.com/) and one of those MCE remotes. I personally use my laptop as media portal jukebox, but no blueray drive yet, because the discs are so expensive.
