I like to play games on my comp because I'm cheap, and don't have to buy a console too. Sooo, whats some good PC games?

What genre(s) do you like? Strategy? Role-playing? Survival horror? First-person shooters/shooters in general? Adventure?
Also what specs is your computer? Saves me recommending something that your PC won't run.

Also, the specifications of your PC largely factor into what we can recommend.

The best PC game of all time would be, in my opinion, System Shock 2. It's really old though, so beware that your computer might be actually too high of a range to play it.

Hard to argue against any of the Dark Engine games (Thief, Thief 2, System Shock 2).

I'll second that. While the actual movement within the engine is clunky, the look of the games are awesome, and the games themselves, in my opinion, legendary.
I remember I got System Shock 2 and Deus Ex the same Christmas (can't remember the year). I love the settings of both games. I've always made a point to look into other cyberpunk games.

Thief 2 :love
Most of my favorite games are old school point and click / adventure games - like Grim Fandango, Broken Sword, Discworld, Toonstruck, etc. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to get some of these to run on XP / Vista :(

I think Grim Fandango is the best puzzle/adventure game ever! It was the first PC game I ever played. The dialogue is brilliant! Viva la revolucíun!

Sadly it doesn't support Toonstruck, and even though Dosbox will run that game, there is a lot of flickering and some other video problems that make it impossible to play the game.

Don't...eat...the gazpacho!
I'm ejoying Homeworld at the moment. The one thing missing from that game is a more robust economy. Mining asteroids and building ships to attack with is fun, but I'd love to see more, such as non-combat space stations etc, for troop support/homes, food production, weapons construction and research. The Mothership basically does all of that (in idea, not in-game) but it'd be cool to see it and build it and attack it and defend it. Basically I wan't an Eve Offline with control over a fleet rather than just your own ship. :)
The sequel went the right way with the introduction of a Shipyard which was needed to build the mighty Battlecruisers.
Another all-time classic game which I never get bored of playing is Total Annihilation. Such a fast-paced, immense real-time strategy which was extremely simple to pick up. Two resources - energy and metal. I loved the maps set on metallic planets - the entire map was made of metal so you could place the metal extractors everywhere! And those gas vents where you could build power plants for huge energy harvesting. And I thought it was great when you got attacked and your perimeter defenses kicked in, and every time there was a huge volley all at once, you saw your energy amount empty in the blink of an eye, only to shoot back up after a second because you're harvesting it at such a high rate anyway. I was fond of the long-range rocket and artillery units, as well as the submarine tanks. Oh and there were these gunships which just hovered in place while rattling off rapid-fire lasers, and the gunship would just hover side to side, keeping the target in sight.
Awesome game!

Mr.McCoy if you enjoy Homeworld you may also enjoy Sins of a Solar Empire (http://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/), its more in depth and has done quite well. Also the planets have civilian population you can bombard from orbit if you so desire.
And who doesn't like bombarding planets from orbit?:lol

There was a sequel for Homeworld, called Homeworld 2. I haven't played it, but if you do get a chance to play it, then there is a Star Wars mod for it, found here -

Oh LucasArts, why did you abandon your adventuring ways in favour of yanking Star Destroyers out of the sky :(
