Well, you'd need to decide what kind of character you want to be, first.

There's quite a selection of active RPs at the moment:
we got a new Empress and she just got married;
the Rebels just took a major blow because one of their spooks was caught and semi-executed (okay so he's missing);
there are a couple of battles between Imps and Rebels to take part in, too;
the Inquisitoriate is having troubles because it has two Grand Inquisitors, one who supports and one who doesn't support the new Empress - and the ensuing trouble stemming from that;
the Bounty Hunters Guild is being reformed;
the Jedi are.... I dunno what the Jedi are doing currently, but I assume they're still all hiding out somewhere;
the Dark Jedi and Sith on Onderon are trying to get rid of the Hapan queen;

etc.... I'm probably missing a few things.
